    OFF TOPIC

grayrobert and Scrimmage are right. The terrorists aim to disrupt our lives and create fear and chaos, and that is exactly what the overkill news and reaction in Boston achieved. All the long delays at airports, the searches, the paranoia, and the security measures are because of the reaction to the warped minds of killers. Too much coverage helps the terrorists. All the publicity goes to their heads. What we were getting was no longer news after the 6 a.m slot, it was an endless rehash giving the murderers their 15 minutes of fame.

Fortunately the vigilantes did not get their way or the unfortunate Saudi national who was wrongly labeled a suspect and incorrectly reported as having been arrested, and the Morrocan student who happened to be innocently watching the race, would probably have been lynched by now.

The Daily Mail, a muckraking fear mongering tabloid in Britain gave a desciption of how to make a pressure cooker bomb, complete with diagrams yesterday. Now THAT'S what I call irresponsible.

    Stranger Than Fiction:

A man named Joe Berti, from Austin, Tx, who ran in the Marathon to raise money for a for a charitable cause, finished just a few minutes before the bombs went off. Both he and his wife Amy, who was about ten feet from the finish line, escaped unscathed, but a woman next to her had lost a leg and several fingers. Once she had gotten the victim help, she met her husband back at their hotel, and they flew home to Austin.

Two days later, Joe was driving back home after a meeting in Dallas, he was heading home on Interstate 35 and nearing Waco Wednesday night when he saw black smoke up ahead to his left. As he drove closer, he saw — and felt — his second explosion in two days. He got out of his car and took a picture, but then debris started falling on his car, and he got out of there, driving through thick, black smoke. When he called his wife to let her know he was okay, she asked him "Honey, what is with your luck? Why are you in all of these places?" She jokingly told a reporter that just to be safe, Joe should probably just stand alone in an open field for awhile.

    Simply amazing!

I Luv OLTL ~ Best wishes for your kitty's full recovery. I can tell he's getting the best of care. Can't imagine why anyone would think English Bulldogs are vicious, they are so sweet and gentle.
The sad thing about my problem is that none of my neighbors or my landlord have a problem with my dogs. This has to do with one of the local animal rights groups person sneaking around and spying on me. They don't like it that part of the time my dogs are crated. All of my dogs are older, 2 of them I took back when they were dumped in shelters. They both have dry eye and require eye drops daily. The last one I took in about 3 months ago, her dry eye has been untreated for a long time. She is doing well and hopefully won't lose her sight. I am fortunate that I have a very nice landlord who allowed me to move here with my dogs.

I know the theory of broadcasters is to be first, but seriously that went on all day through the evening. I am glad I had stuff on the DVR to watch last night. I was checking the news via the net. It is a very tragic event, but how many lawyers, shrinks, neighbors and relatives can you interview while you are waiting for something to happen.

Ot I luv oltl. Hi friend. I was hoping someone else was up early yesterday to talk to when all in Boston started as hubs was asleep. It was almost like watching a movie and seeing everything live as it happened was hard to describe ....bombs and bullets going off all over. I can't imagine how scary it must have been to be woken up hearing that in your own street

I think it is good to get a second opinion on your kitty. Hubs puts drops in sams eyes as he has allergies but can't imagine giving him a shot every day

Hope everything works out. Will say a prayer for your kitty

    OT -

Lovesdogs - Those people who sneak around your house have too much time on their hands. Obviously you love your dogs and these peopole are just troublemakers.

Thanks for the best wishes for my kitty. I have to run to the vet and get some meds for pain just to make sure he is not in pain this weekend. He seems to be feeling better and I will be feeling much better when he can have his surgery next week if his glucose level is ok for surgery.

Ot lovesdogs so glad your landlord supports you. We are on rural electric they send out a small magazine to customers each month. The president of the rea (rural electric association) had an article in it about an animal rights group pushing for making some type of prarrie chicken that no one has even seen in Kansas endangered. This would cost millions of dollars as all the pipelines and wind mills would have to be moved out of the protected area. Crazy this has not been settled yet

4evergh - I didn't think to get online when I was up Thursday night watching the manhunt for the Boston bombing suspects. I hope there is not a "next time", but if there is I will get online. It helps to talk to people. Boyfriend was asleep.

The outpouring of help was been unbelievable for the residents of West, Texas. West is between Dallas and Austin and all of us who have traveled between the 2 cities on I-35 stop in this small friendly town of West to get kolaches. Unfortunately, one of the first responders who died was a captain in the Dallas Fire Department who lives in West.

I have heard stories of the selfless acts of the residents in West. A nursing home with 140 people was near the plant and all the people in the home were rescued. One man went in and got 16 people out. Another guy went in to help his mother who worked there. They said that the windows and doors blew out and sheetrock from the walls was on top of some of the nursing home residents.

Kitty seems better this morning. He is up here on the computer helping me type. Hopefully, they can do surgery on him tomorrow. We love our animals, don't we?
