Kristina comes home and complains about Sonny to Molly, who wonders why she's so mad at her father. Kristina explains he never has to pay for anything. Molly thinks he feels really bad for what happened, but Kristina points out he always hurts people and no one stands up to him, but she will.
After yelling at Molly for believing a book that involved a passionate couple where the woman slapped the man was romantic, Kristina opens the front door to Skye who wants to see how she's doing. Kristina talks about her feelings regarding Kiefer and Sonny and how she is scared she will never be able to trust another guy again.
Kristina comes home and Molly apologizes for bringing up the book. Kristina tells her she's not upset about that and then describes her visit with Michael. She can't believe Michael would stand up for Sonny and says she doesn’t care if she is the only one in her family, she will stand up to her father.
Kristina has a nightmare about Kiefer, who says she is the reason he's dead and hits her. Molly comes to her room when Kristina wakes up and hears about her sister's dream. Kristina doesn’t know why she let him abuse her. She says her doctor keeps asking about Sonny and thinks she was with Kiefer because of her dad. Molly wonders if she thinks Sonny is an abuser, but Kristina doesn’t know. She asks Molly to help her find evidence of Sonny's abusive past, but Molly can't find anything online. Molly thinks there is one person who can give her the answers she's looking for. Kristina invites Johnny over to ask if Sonny really did beat Claudia.
Jason comes home to find Sam and Molly celebrating Sam's birthday. Jason apologizes for forgetting, but Sam understands. Molly suggests Jason go out and buy her something now, but Sam tells her sister, it's not a big deal and they will celebrate when things calm down. Molly asks if Jason made Michael safer in prison. He tells her he handled everything wrong and Michael is in prison because of him. Molly responds that even when you do the best you can, stuff still falls apart. It doesn't mean you're a bad person, it's just fate and you can't change what's already happened. After Sam takes Molly home, Jason apologizes for forgetting her birthday, but she forgives him. She reminds him he's not the only one who should carry the weight of what went down, but Jason feels like it was on him to protect Michael and he failed, but now he has to make sure he's safe no matter what it takes.
After Michael's sentencing, Jason tells a hysterical Carly he will make sure Michael will be safe, but she has to get him through the next few hours at the police station. Carly pulls it together and then leaves to see Michael. Inside the courtroom, Johnny goes off on Dante for protecting Sonny and sending Michael to prison in the process. As Dante starts to leave, Morgan lashes out at him for lying about Michael. He says he hates Dante and wishes he would have died when Sonny shot him. Sonny tries to diffuse the situation, but Kristina and Molly join in and accuse Dante of hurting Michael. Sonny asks Kristina to take the kids home, but she says they are going to see Michael first. Everyone leaves the courtroom and Sonny asks Diane how they can stop this from happening. She agrees to try for an appeal, but reminds him Michael confessed and the evidence supports that. He will do whatever it takes, whatever it costs – he just wants his son free. Claire chimes in and suggests they work the brain damage angle during the appeal. Sonny wonders why she is trying to help and she says the plan was for him to go to prison not his son. She thinks the judge is punishing her and Diane for playing fast and loose with this case and she won't let Michael suffer for what she did. After Lulu expresses her support to Dante and leaves, he sees Sonny and tells him they are both to blame. Dante cops to his mistakes, including not admitting Sonny shot him, which Michael is now paying for. Sonny declares nothing anyone else has done can compare to the harm he has caused his family.
At the police department, Mac asks Lucky to personally see to Michael's transfer to Pentonville. Carly walks in the station and Lucky tells her Michael is getting processed, but she can see him before he leaves. Lucky apologizes for not looking the other way when Jason asked him too. Carly tells him the only blame in this belongs to Dante. Carly visits with Michael in the interrogation room and tells him he will survive this. She says he deserves better parents, but he thinks they deserve a better son. She declares there is no one better than him and she will do whatever it takes to get him out of prison. She assures him Jason is making arrangements to make his life better in Pentonville. Michael says it was worth his punishment to kill Claudia and keep her and Josslyn safe. Lucky interrupts them so Kristina, Molly and Morgan can see Michael. Michael is happy to see his family and tries to assure them everything will be okay. Morgan declares he won't go to a single Yankees game until Michael comes home. Michael says he will listen to them on the radio and it will be like they are watching together. Outside the room, Lulu comes to see Carly, but Lucky thinks it's a bad idea. Lulu says she needs to make sure Carly will call Jason off Dante, but Lucky doesn’t think now is the time. Mac walks up and hands Lucky the chains for Michael and after Lulu walks away, Lucky goes in the interrogation room to prepare Michael for transfer. The kids say tearful goodbyes to Michael and then Carly tells her son to be brave and strong. Lucky then leads Michael away.
Jax comes home to find the kids and a cold Morgan, who hates him almost as much as he hates Dante. Molly and Kristina remind him Dante was the one to turn Michael in, not Jax. Kristina says Sonny is really the only one to blame.
Molly helps Morgan with his homework outside of Kelly's and Kristina walks up to tell them the judge is ready to sentence Michael. Mike rushes out and tells them he's off to the courthouse. Molly and Morgan want to go as well, but Kristina doesn’t think that's a good idea. Kristina eventually agrees but only if they hide and they keep quiet. They take off, as Johnny and Olivia come to the restaurant. Johnny gets a call saying the judge will let him speak about Claudia before sentencing.
At the courthouse, Carly and Jason see Dante and Sonny walk in. Dante walks over to Carly and asks her to hear him out about Michael, but it just ends in an argument. The kids secretly come to the courthouse as Sonny argues with Dante about turning Michael in. Sonny says he might not deserve a better son than Dante, but Michael deserves a better brother. Morgan tells Kristina and Molly that after today everyone including Sonny will see Dante isn't the bad guy they all think he is. Lulu approaches Dante who loves her support, but worries it will alienate her from her family further. She's not worried and won't apologize for falling in love with him. Jax, Mike, Diane, Claire, Mayor Floyd, Johnny and Olivia enter the court as the kids observe and comment from their hiding place in the hallway. Court gets underway as Michael is brought in and the judge asks if any of the victim's family would like to speak. Johnny gets up and tries to paint Claudia in a sympathetic light, but says Michael had no choice but to kill her. He says Michael should be the hero in this whole thing because he saved his mother and sister. He adds Claudia would not want to see Michael punished for this and she would forgive him for stopping her. He also says Michael is not responsible for his sister's death – Sonny is. Johnny hopes the judge will be lenient because Michael never meant to hurt his sister. The judge thanks him and Johnny steps down. The judge addresses Michael and sentences him to five years in prison with the possibility of parole in two years. The courtroom erupts and after the judge restores order, Dante pleads with him to let Michael turn his life around with community service and counseling. The judge won't hear of it, but Dante begs him to reconsider out of fear of Sonny's enemies coming after Michael in jail. The judge orders Dante to sit down and sticks by his ruling saying it is a light sentence for taking a life. He hopes Michael uses his time in prison wisely. Sonny takes a turn at trying to change the judge's mind, but to no avail. The judge admonishes the courtroom for the crimes everyone has committed while trying to cover up Michael's guilt, but he has too many other cases to try so watching Michael go to prison will have to be punishment enough. The judge says everyone there is partially responsible for Michael's fate and when he is finally released from prison, he hopes Michael never goes home. Before Michael is led away, a devastated Carly tearfully embraces her son. Outside the courtroom, Michael sees his siblings and cousin who are shocked to learn he's going to prison.
