Over at General Hospital, Kate groggily tells Patrick that Sonny has a son named Dante that he doesn't know about. She falls asleep before Olivia walks back into the room. Patrick tells her that Kate did wake up, briefly, and was very disoriented. He advises that Olivia keep Kate calm when she wakes up.
Back at GH, Kate hasn't woken up yet. Olivia talks about the time when she was pregnant and how her bad reputation served a purpose because her family assumed any number of guys could have knocked her up. She thanks Kate for keeping the secret and not putting Dante's life at risk by being a mobster's son. Sonny shows up at the door and Olivia asks how long he's been standing there. Not long, he says. When he hears that Kate hasn't woken up yet, he says he'll be right back.
Kate wakes up and asks Olivia a lot of questions. She slowly remembers what happened, but Olivia tries to calm her down. Finally she says that Sonny lied when he says he was out of the mob.
Dante Angelo Falconeri, I am your mother!
Back at GH, Patrick asks Olivia to step out so he can examine Kate. Soon Kate wakes up and tells Patrick that Sonny needs to know that Olivia had his son. Outside the room, Olivia is talking on the phone. She's telling the person on the other end that Connie needs her family and she needs to stay in Port Charles for a while. Then she says, "Dante Angelo Falconeri, take that tone out of your voice, I am your mother!"
Johnny Plays the Double Jeopardy Card.
Back at GH, Robin is still sitting with Sonny when Patrick comes out of surgery. He tells Sonny that Kate made it and should make a full recovery. When Sonny is sitting with Kate later, still asleep, he tells her that she did her part and now he has to do his. He says that whoever hurt her is going to pay an ugly price.
Kate has Something to Tell Sonny.
Back at GH, Patrick is in with Kate when she starts to stir. Patrick tells her where she is and that Sonny's in the hallway. She murmurs that if she dies, he should tell Sonny something. "I should've told him. Sonny has…" and then she drifts off again.
Anthony's Plan is Twisted.
Back at GH, Olivia is sitting next to Kate's bed having a one-way conversation. She's terribly upset at the thought of losing 'Con'. She compliments her cousin for being able to spend so much time with Sonny without telling him the truth. She recalls how, all those years ago, Sonny dumped her to go out with her cousin. She says that if only she had been honest back then Kate would never be in this hospital bed. Soon Monica, followed by Sonny, comes into the room. Kate's still not stable enough for surgery, but Sonny wants Monica to find Patrick Drake.
The Bride is Shot!
Strains of 'Ave Maria' have never sounded so haunting as when they echo through the chapel as Kate walks down the aisle. Sonny beams at her, only taking his eyes away long enough to throw some smiles his father's way. Suddenly one gunshot rings out and although, everyone is alarmed, nothing seems to happen for a long pause. Kate calmly looks at Sonny, who notices the blood on her gown's bodice. She looks down at it and collapses to the ground.
Sonny yells for Jason and sends, "I'm going to kill you," ringing through the church. Olivia falls to her knees in prayer. Jason draws his gun and takes off, with Cody right behind him. Johnny covers Lulu and Jax rushes over to Carly's pew and covers her.
At the altar, Sonny, Mike and Olivia are at Kate's side. Mike calls 911. Kate struggles for breath, but tells Sonny that she should've told him years ago that she loved him. She tells Olivia that she admires her for following her heart like she should've done.
