The World According to Maximus.

At GH, Carly waltzes into Kate's room and finds her arguing with Olivia. They tell her that she should've knocked, but Carly reminds Kate that she talked to Sonny at her request. Then she reports that Sonny wouldn't budge and that he's intent on getting his revenge. Olivia pipes up and says that Sonny won't stop until he gets what he wants, and Carly says that Kate's cousin knows Sonny better than his fiancée does. Kate says that she'll be the person to get through to Sonny, and she wants to do it in private. Carly asks Olivia to go have a drink with her, and, as they walk out the door together, Kate spits that they have so much in common.

Sonny goes to see Kate. She begs him to promise her that he won't go back to the mob. She says that she can ride out whatever comes with him as long as he stays free of the business. He asks if he's supposed to forget that she almost died? She says that if he loves her like he says he does, he won't make her give up on him. He says that he loves her deeply, but even if he loses her, he has to do what's right.

Giambettis Versus the Russians.

Olivia and Kate are arguing over at GH. Kate says that after losing his boys, finding out about another son would do Sonny a world of good. Olivia admits that she fantasized about telling Sonny on her way to meet him in Bensonhurst before the wedding. She says that once she saw his designer suit, his thirst for power came screaming back at her and she changed her mind. She contends that Sonny will never leave the mob and that's the end of the topic. Kate doesn't see how she can keep a father and son apart. She urges Olivia to admit that Sonny's a good man, and reminds Olivia that she was the one who convinced her. Olivia says that she always knew Sonny was trouble and that's what she liked about him, but they've all grown up now. Kate asks if she's worried that she might tell him about Dante? Olivia says that she won't tell Sonny because he would hate her for not telling him sooner. As they debate the matter further, Carly steps into the room and says how much she loves hearing about family secrets.

Sonny Won't Listen to Anyone.

Kate has asked Carly to come to her hospital room. When she arrives, Kate tries to apologize to her for focusing on all the wrong things in the past. Carly isn't in the accepting mood and taunts Kate with her 'Connie Falconeri' background. Kate changes the subject and says that she really wanted to believe that Sonny was out of the mob. Then she asks Carly to do something for Sonny that she hasn't been able to accomplish. She asks Carly to talk Sonny out of going back into the mob. Carly tells Kate that she can't stand her, but she will talk to Sonny because he matters to her.

Olivia brings Kate some soup and Kate immediately can see that she's all worked up. Olivia tells her about meeting a skank called Claudia Zacchara, but she won't get in her face ever again. Kate says that she is a dangerous woman! Then she reminds Olivia that she kept Dante from Sonny to avoid danger, but now she's pushing Claudia Zacchara's buttons.

And the Lie Just Keeps Getting Bigger.

Over at GH, Robin has popped into Kate's to talk. They don't know each other well, but Robin wants to remedy that. She gives a tender description of how she, Sonny and Stone all came together years ago. Then she expresses her worry that Sonny's natural instinct is to go back to the mob now, and wonders if Kate can stop him. Kate says that she might have been wrong to try to change him. Then asks Robin permission to ask something personal. "If that baby you're carrying was Sonny's, would you take that secret to your grave?" Patrick has stepped into the doorway and overheard.

Mac Did What No One Else Could.

At GH, Sonny is sitting with Kate as she complains about the hospital's lack of latte on the breakfast tray. Sonny is more in the mood to confess his sins, but Kate doesn't blame him for Karpov's methods of retaliation over a broken business deal. Sonny asks if Karpov sent any signals, and Kate recalls the flowers that came to the church before the ceremony. Sonny can guess the rest, "Blood red roses?" He tells Kate that he can't lie anymore and that he has to get revenge to make sure this never happens again. "The only way I know how to do that is to go back to the mob." Kate pulls her hand away from his and says that more violence isn't the answer. She asks him to come with her to Manhattan or Paris, but he won't run away. He wants to be with her, but he has to defend what's his.

Jason Stands by his Decision.

Down the hall, Kate asks Olivia if Sonny used the exact words that he's going into a mob war. Olivia tries to resist talking about it for fear of upsetting her, but Kate urges her to go on. She says that Sonny broke a business deal with a man named Karpov, so her shooting was a message from him. She says that Carly told her as much. That's all Kate needs to hear to believe it's a lie. "You trying to turn me against Sonny and I know why. It's because you have his son," Kate tells a stunned Olivia. She goes on to say that the promise she made to keep quiet was years ago and that Sonny would be a wonderful father to Dante. Olivia says that she'd rather rip out her tongue than let that happen because Sonny is the reason Kate got shot!

Sonny shows up in Kate's room behind Olivia and agrees that this is all his fault. Kate assures him that she would never have died just as they were about to get what they've always wanted. He tells her to get some sleep, but she asks him to stay with her. He looks as if he has somewhere else to be, but slips into the chair next to her bed for a while. After she's asleep and Sonny's gone, Olivia sits next to the bed. She says that Kate should've kept running, but if she insists on wrecking her life over Sonny Corinthos she can, but she'd better leave her son out of it.

A little later, Diane shows up to visit with Kate. She tells Olivia how revolutionary her cousin's layouts are in the fashion world. Kate gives a little smile and then asks if Karpov shot her because Sonny's still in the mob? Diane tries to change the conversation by saying that Sonny's biggest hope is that she recovers fully. Kate asks if Carly was lying when she told Olivia that Sonny was in bed with Karpov. Realizing that she is against a wall, Diane says that Sonny may have changed who he does business with, but the business itself hasn't really changed.
