    At Jake's, Michael asks Sam if she was ever victimized. She quietly says yes, referring to her past. He wonders if something happened recently and she says no, the past just creeps up on her sometimes. He knows what that's like and credits Abby for helping him heal. They start talking about Abby's safety and Sam warns no matter what he does to prevent it, the people he loves will still get hurt. Across the way, Johnny shows up and talks to his strippers. He wants to do more for them than just take care of their medical expenses. Floyd takes note of the interaction and suggests Diane figure out what's going on. Diane knows there's a story there, but she'll target the women, not Zacchara. Delores shows up in civilian clothes and talks to Johnny about the strippers, as Coleman informs Sam Jason is outside trying to decipher Franco's message. She runs out past Floyd. Diane cozies up to the strippers at the bar to dig for gossip. Meanwhile, Dante shows up and pulls Delores away from Johnny.

    Diane and the former Mayor Garrett Floyd enter Jake's. They inform Coleman that Floyd is no longer the mayor and is now a media mogul. He's also going by his middle name Prescott in order to distance himself from the scandals of his past. Diane toasts her new employer, who hired her to write her gossip column. Sam enters and sits with a couple of Johnny's strippers. She talks to them about the attacks, which Floyd takes note of. Michael flies in and harshly questions the strippers. Sam pulls him aside to calm him down, but she ends up on a rant about how the women weren't asking for the abuse. Sam apologizes for going off on him. Michael is also sorry for his behavior and brings up his conversation with Shawn about Franco. As he talks about his own attack, Sam gets upset and throws things around.

    Coleman shows Jason a new graffiti tag on the wall outside Jake's.

    Steve saddles up to the bar at Jake's and downs a beer. Coleman wonders what's got him shaking like a leaf. Steve responds that you make decisions and choices never expecting them to follow you around. Coleman understands, lamenting his failed relationship with Kate. He compares her to Lisa, minus the crazy. Coleman wonders if he's spooked since he fired her. Matt walks up and sits with Steve. He blames himself for what happened to Liz because the party was for him after he acted like a spoiled brat. They both get paged and leave.

    At Jake's, Kate and Sonny rehash the past. They end up dancing, as Coleman scowls. Kate wonders what happens next. Sonny moves in and kisses her. He then says he has to call it a night. She wonders if it's an invitation. He thinks they should take it slow and not rush anything. She stays behind to finish her drink, as Sonny says he hopes to see her soon. Once Sonny is gone, Coleman says he doesn’t appreciate her using him to get at Sonny. He tells her to play her games at another bar. She feels at home there, so she's sorry if he's jealous. Coleman can't believe what an ice queen she is. He tells her to finish her drink and get out of there. Kate leaves, as Johnny follows her.

    Sonny interrupts Johnny and Carly at Jake's. Shawn intervenes and Kate walks in when things get heated between Johnny and Sonny. Kate and Carly promptly get into it as Sonny invites Johnny to step outside. Shawn tries to diffuse the situation, as Carly walks over and announces she's leaving. She asks Johnny if he'd like to go somewhere and he says, "Lead the way." After they leave, Sonny rails at Shawn for not looking after Carly. Shawn reminds him he has a life of his own. Shawn's date tells him to go after Carly because he's obviously more interested in her than he's letting her know. She leaves, as Sonny tries to divert Kate's attention from Coleman. When she doesn’t bite, he explains he came to see her. She wants him to play their favorite song on the jukebox to prove how much it means to him. When he wonders why she all of a sudden wants to remember their past, she says she wants to go back to a time when things weren't so complicated and when she held him and never wanted to let go.

    Upon seeing Shawn with a woman at Jake's, Carly orders a tequila from Coleman, who thinks she's looking for trouble. Carly retorts she's already found it. Shawn sees Carly, who pretends she didn't know he was there. Carly tries to rile up his date and banters with Shawn. She plays the song they danced to at Kelly's. She wants to dance with him now, but he reminds her he's with someone. Shawn plays a new song and dances with his date. Carly quizzes Coleman about Shawn and the woman. Coleman says he can be her guilty pleasure. She tells him he's not the party she's looking for. Coleman offers to help her make Shawn jealous, as Johnny enters. Carly joins him at the pool table. She was hoping he could buy her a drink for her birthday. Johnny doesn't think he's safe company for anybody, but Carly thinks he's just the company she's looking for. Shawn watches as Carly dances with Johnny, who knows what she's up to. Johnny tells Carly the woman Shawn is with is one of his dancers. He wonders if that matters. She says it could and kisses him, as Sonny walks in.

    Sonny interrupts Kate and Coleman's kiss at Jake's. He tells Kate she doesn't get to have a bad day and then hit on "the help." Coleman and Sonny do some posturing and then Sonny orders Kate to sit at a table with him. Coleman brings them some drinks, as Sonny asks about her latest trip. Kate elusively tells him it was informative. She then asks about Kristina getting into Yale, assuming he pulled some strings for his daughter. Kate sees Sonny holding on to the key to his childhood home. She wonders why he went back there. He explains he didn't want to be afraid someone would throw him in a closet. He did a lot of thinking and bought the house. The key he's holding is attached to a piece of the door from the closet Deke threw him in. She thinks it's a symbol of his pain and declares it's owning him. She thinks his hold on the past isn't healthy, but he points out turning your back on it like she did isn't either. After more banter, Sonny smugly says Kate is looking at him like she wants him. Kate responds, "Not if you were the last man on earth." She brings up Brenda and Sonny tells her he loved Brenda, but she left and he has to learn from that. He can't hold on to people anymore because it only hurts everyone involved. Sonny touches her hand, but Kate pulls away. She cares about him, but this is not an invitation. Sonny passionately kisses her, throws money on the bar at Coleman and then leaves.

    Kate saunters into Jake's and receives a chilly reception from Coleman. She doesn’t buy his wounded puppy routine, but he thought they really had something. She can't believe he thinks she would really be with him. He retorts she almost married a mobster, so why not? Kate can't reciprocate his feelings and can't afford to be with someone who thinks she is different than she is. He brings up Sonny, wondering if she's taken up with him again. She tells him it's none of his business. Coleman flirts with her and she pulls him in for a kiss, as Sonny walks in.

    After Mac crashes the party at Jake's, Diane convinces him to stay and loosen up, as Coleman counsels Alexis at the bar. Diane tells Mac he is too safe and honest to be desired by women, namely Alexis. Mac responds that they are friends and colleagues and he won't compromise her. Diane suggests he appreciate her in a new way. Mac accuses her of thinking he's washed up. Diane just thinks he needs to find the man he lost while parenting and being politically correct. Talk turns to Diane and she admits it's been great with Max, but you have to eventually move on to make new memories with someone or something new. Mac notes she's scared. She admits she is, but there's something to be said for living life without a safety net. She says you have find something that makes you truly happy, but Mac says sometimes you just have to be okay with what you have. Meanwhile, Alexis admits to Coleman there isn't any spark between her and Mac. He thinks she should give it a chance, but Alexis doesn’t think it works that way. She says you just recognize in the moment the thing you've been waiting for, even if you didn't know you wanted it. Alexis turns it on Coleman and they talk about Kate. He admits he tired to fit in her world, but she didn’t want him on her arm in public. She asks if he misses her. He does, but he's not sure if he misses her or just having someone there. He talks about being with other women and running the bar, but wonders if there's more to life than that. Mac approaches and offers to drive Alexis home, but gets a call over the radio to go to the airport. Diane announces she just got a call from Sonny and she has to leave to meet him.
