At the PCPD crime lab, a chemist is hard at work when he's called away. As soon as he leaves the room, Jerry (dressed as a chemist) slips in. He searches around until he finds the box with Mr. Craig's name on it - but it's empty!
Carly confronts Jerry in another area and is surprised to hear him say that he loved Rena. "You have no idea how liberating it is not to give a holy damn about anything," he says. They continue arguing with one another and then Jerry walks away. Crying, Lulu rounds the corner and runs into Carly, who asks if she can help. Lulu doesn't want to talk to Carly, but she makes Lulu sit and talk anyway. "Was I the only one who didn't know that?" she asks when she realizes that everyone in town knew the truth except her. She can't understand how Laura could forgive Luke. Carly tells Lulu not to judge Laura's choices, telling her that what happened between Luke and Laura is between them and no one else can possibly understand it. Lulu starts to leave, telling Carly that she is calling every man in her life to tell them she is never falling in love! Carly tells her not to be afraid of life or love because of what happened to her mother. "Whether you like it or not you're a Spencer and Spencer's never give up," she says.
Carly and Jerry are arguing in the lobby of the Metro Court. Jax tells them to knock it off. Carly badgers Jerry and he reminds them that if he disappears Emily will go to prison for espionage. He tells them that the only two people who aren't dispensable in his book are Jax and Lady Jane - but that could change. He leaves and Carly assures Jax that Jerry won't hurt him. "He will destroy me by hurting you," Jax says. He contends that the best way to handle Jerry is to keep him happy. He warns Carly that if she pushes him, he'll hurt her and then he'd have to kill his own brother.
Lucky goes home to Liz and tells her that Lulu heard everything today in the courtroom. She reminds him how he felt when he first learned about it and then says that Lulu will come around. Lucky says that it's worse this time because Lulu's family didn't have the guts to warn her! Then he makes Liz promise that they'll never blindside their boys with lies.
Alexis goes to Jax and says that she can POSSIBLY prove reasonable doubt that Jerry is not Mr. Craig in court. He says that he's getting ready to just turn his brother in and asks Alexis why she would even consider defending him? He says that she is recovering from chemo and needs to take it easy. Alexis says that she's doing it so that Emily doesn't go to prison and so that he won't go down with his brother. She says that she has horrible judgment, but she has seen something good in Jerry. Alexis asks Jax how he could have ended up so different from his brother. She thinks that maybe, just maybe, Jerry can be saved somehow.
Jerry and Carly cross paths in the park. After they snipe at each other a few times, he tells her that he was happy on a little island with a woman named Rena until everything went horribly wrong. He says that at first they were just playing a part and were supposed to be acting the role of honeymooners, but they got wrapped up in their role and fell in love. Eventually his employers captured him. Carly quietly asks what they did to him. Jerry says that they it was so horrible that he won't repeat it, but they kept him for a long time until his sanity left. Finally they brought Rena to him and made him watch as they killed her.
Jax and Carly are busy assuring their employees that Jerry Jack's resemblance to the Metro Court terrorist will just take some getting used to. Soon Jerry arrives and chastises Jax for not acting thrilled to see his long-lost brother. Jax tells him not to expect him to go out on a limb to protect him. "Because of my loyalty to you, you may never pay for the crimes that you committed," Jax says. He goes on, "You're not the brother I loved. You are a stranger." Jerry says that he has no choice but to play out the bluff and hope that they continue to support him. Carly says that it's too late to back out now, and then goes to talk to Logan and make sure that he doesn't shoot Jerry on sight.
Jax has called Edward and Monica to the Metro Court to "clear up some confusion before it starts." When they arrive, Jax re-introduces his brother Jerry after his recent plastic surgery. They don't understand why this involves them and Jerry politely says that there is some confusion on the part of the police. He explains that he apparently looks like James Craig. Monica's jaw drops open as she thinks about the monster that let Alan die. Edward smartly says that if Jerry looks like James Craig, then he IS James Craig. Jerry apologizes for the stress they've been through, but he is not the man who sent their loved one staggering to his death. Jax adds that a forensics lab is working on proving it. Later on, Jerry is munching grapes as Carly expresses her unhappiness over their newest situation. He tells her that he's risking his freedom so that he can stay with his brother and he's not going anywhere.
At the Metro Court, Mac wants to arrest Jerry for being "Mr. Craig", but Lady Jane says that his name is Jerry Jacks. Mac is livid as he accuses Jerry of shooting his niece and allowing Alan Quartermaine to suffer irreparable heart damage. Jerry continues to deny knowing anything about this James Craig person. He contends that he only came back to Port Charles to surprise his mother and brother. Emily, Nikolas and Alexis are holding their breath waiting to see what unfolds. Mac asks Jax if this is his brother or not and finally Jax says that he's sure his brother had nothing to do with the tragedy at the Metro Court. Alexis speaks up and says that she will represent Jax's brother in this matter. "Do you really want to defend a man who would blow up his own brother's hotel?" Mac asks Alexis. Emily speaks up and says that this man is certainly not James Craig. Mac asks Nikolas and he quietly says that Emily is right. Alexis tells Mac that he can't place a wrongful arrest and should let her client go. Ric arrives and Mac asks if he recognizes Jerry's voice from his negotiations on the phone that night. Ric can't be sure. Ric suggests that they do a DNA testing in order to be sure.
Carly arrives and Jerry acts as if he's never met his new sister-in-law before. Jax tells Carly that his brother has had plastic surgery. With Mac and Ric paying close attention, Alexis asks Carly if the man before them is James Craig. Carly thinks for a minute and says that James Craig should have to pay for what he did. Jerry agrees whole heartedly. Mac poses the question again to Carly. She pauses and finally says, "No." Lady Jane sighs in relief. Mac says that the Jerry Jacks he knew wasn't capable of what happened at the Metro Court, but he always walked a little too close to the line of the law. Ric tells Mac to let Jerry go and that when the DNA results come in, they'll have their answer once and for all. Jax assures Mac that Jerry won't flee.
At the Metro Court, Jane can't believe that Jerry is actually planning to stick around. She tells him that she knows he is James Craig, right? She says that she's glad his father isn't there to see what he's become. She can't believe that Jerry has asked Jax to risk his reputation to defend him. "You have crossed the line from bad behavior to evil and you don't seem to even care!" Jerry is very curt when he says, "When have I cared about anything, mom?"
