On a private plane pointed at Port Charles, Michael asks Jax if his dad will be mad to see that they've come home. Instead of answering, Carly tells Jax that Sonny will want them to move in with him and Jax says that he won't hear of it. He asks if she'll consider living at the Metro Court and Carly says that she wants to go home, in spite of what happened there. Jax agrees to step up security.
Carly comes back into the beach house on the island and finds Jax. She runs into his arms and says that they might have time together before the boys return from the beach. Just as they start kissing, she stops and says that she wants to know what's going on in Port Charles first. Jax sighs and says that Zacchara is still a threat, and that Kate Howard crashed her car and is under suspicion for drunk driving -- only they think Trevor set her up. Carly realizes that Trevor is trying to get to Sonny. She explains all the pain that Sonny carries around regarding his mom and Trevor is pushing all the buttons. In short, they are all in danger. Before Jax and Carly can make love, Michael and Morgan come back from the beach and ask when they can go home. Jax tells the boys that he brought skim boards for them all to have fun on and assures them that they'll go home when they are positive that they'll be safe. After they head down to the beach, we can see that someone is lurking in the greenery off the terrace they were just sitting on.
Sonny and Carly call the boys downstairs to tell them about Leticia. Carly is sobbing as they explain that she is in heaven with the angels. After Morgan and Carly leave the room, Michael asks his dad what really happened. Sonny says that it looks like one of his enemies killed her and Michael says, "You have to kill them dad, you can't let them get away with it." Sonny demands that revenge only puts a whole in your heart…and hurts your soul. Michael and Sonny both have tears brimming in their eyes as they talk and finally Michael leans into his dad's chest and cries. Jason arrives as they are explaining that they'll be safe on the island for a while. Sonny apologizes that Carly has to put her life on hold, again, because of him. Carly says that Jax is going to have to understand.
Carly tells the kids to go upstairs and help Leticia pack their bags. She explains they're going somewhere safe. Leticia offers to pack so Jax can drive them all to the hotel now.
Once at the Metro Court, Jerry tells Jax and Carly they need protection and he wants to be the protector! Carly yells that it's ironic that he wants to help when he's the one who almost got him killed. Jerry says it's wise of them to move here and leaves. Carly apologizes that his life keeps getting turned upside down because of Sonny, but he tells her that marriage is give and take. He runs after his brother, saying he thinks he knows more than he's saying!
Jax finds Jerry talking on his cell. "I knew you'd be playing both sides of this." he says, and when Jerry won't let Jax help, he punches him out cold!
Jason and Sonny arrive at Metro Court to take Carly and the kids to Sonny's house. Carly says he can take the boys, but she'll stay behind.
Sonny takes the kids home and when they arrive, he tells them there will be no hiding from Leticia and no funny business while they're there. Kate drops by and asks if she's still invited to dinner. They boys tell her she is, and surprise Kate by admitting they're all moving in with their dad - Carly included! The kids go off and leave Kate alone with Sonny. Kate is uncomfortable with the situation and Sonny accuses her of being jealous. "Should I be?" Kate wonders.
Clarisse, Kate's assistant, finds her with her hair tussled and shoes off. She immediately thinks that Kate has been mugged. Kate calmly explains that Sonny asked her to watch his boys. "Oh my gosh - you hate unscripted children!" Clarisse exclaims. Kate smiles as she reports that she actually had fun. A little later, Michael finds Kate and screams for help. He tells her that Michael fell into her pond and is drowning. Kate grabs his hand and takes off toward the pond. She's able to reach in and grab Michael's hand. Sonny arrives just as Morgan is safe and asks what in the heck is going on? He gives Kate his jacket and then chastises Morgan. Kate tells him that Morgan is scared, he shouldn't be in trouble. Sonny thanks Kate, and then takes his boys home.
As Sonny are Kate are talking on her terrace, Sonny's boys come over. They politely ask Miss Howard if they can retrieve Morgan's ball from her pond. "Koi, Lilly, or Meditation?" Kate inquires. Sonny cuts in and asks them what they are doing there and where is their mother? Michael explains that Carly took off on a trip and Sonny asks Kate to watch the boys for a minute while he goes next door to see what's going on. "How hard can it be?" Kate asks. She proceeds to tell the boys that she can't have them flailing about in her Monet-inspired lily pond. Instead, she promises to buy Morgan another ball. Later, Kate has pulled out some paints and paper and is helping the boys to paint impressionistic water lilies. They laugh and have fun as Sonny looks on.
Carly is tired because she waited up last night for a call from Jax that never came. She asks Michael how they should spend their holiday and he suggests a speed boat ride. Carly says that since his dad is in Puerto Rico, Jason is temporarily in jail, and Jax is gone, they should just settle for a picnic. Michael tells her that Uncle Jerry told him that he'd take them out for a ride.
Carly and Jax sit the boys down and tell them that Jax is going to help Jerry again. He promises to come home as quickly as he can. Michael tells him that he'll miss 4th of July. Jax asks them to light a sparkler for him and then gives them both a big hug. After they run out, he asks Carly if he gets a kiss. He tells her that he loves her and promises to see her soon. She tells him that she's trying really hard not to cry and that he should just go.
As Jax and Carly are gazing into each other's eyes and drinking wine, Michael comes downstairs and wants to watch TV for a little while. They reluctantly make room for him between then and turn on the TV. They hear a news bulletin about Jake's disappearance and Carly quickly snaps off the TV and takes Michael in her arms. After Michael goes to bed she lays into Jax about Jerry. She thinks that he had something to do with the abduction! She tells him that his brother is capable of anything and since she helped him to go free, she is going to freak out every time something goes wrong. Jax sits on the sofa with his head in his hands. Carly calms down and sits with him. Then Jax asks if they can just check on the boys and go to bed. She kisses him and agrees.
