Jordan Ashford put the care of her son TJ Ashford in the hands of Shawn Butler, the man who accidentally killed her husband Thomas "Tommy" Ashford Sr. while in combat in the Marines.
Jordan arrived in Port Charles after she received a call from Shawn a few years later. He wanted her to watch TJ after he was witness to a mob shootout.
Jordan accused Shawn of putting TJ in danger by working for Sonny Corinthos. Shawn told Jordan he only had TJ because she had put her son in jeopardy herself. Jordan insisted that she had changed and opted to stay in town instead of fighting to leave with TJ.
Jordan was hired to work in the art gallery of Ava Jerome. Ava was part of the Jerome mob family, the enemy of Sonny.

At the PCPD, Jordan and Valerie discuss the charges against TJ being dropped, which Jordan believes is thanks to Sonny. She hates that she’s grateful to Sonny for what he did, and that she and her son are in debt to him.
At the Metro Court, TJ joins Sonny for lunch to discuss his legal expenses, which he feels the need to pay back. Sonny won’t hear of it, and he also wants to help cover TJ’s education expenses as well as have TJ move in with him. TJ agrees when Sonny tells him that it’s what Shawn would want. Jordan arrives and finds out what is going on. She begs TJ to come live with her and that she’ll pay for his expenses, but he wants nothing from her. TJ walks out, and Jordan tells Sonny that he doesn’t get to take her son just because he lost his.
Molly brings TJ a tie in the PCPD holding room. She worried about him all night. The hardest part with him was the blowout with his mom. He informs her about all the stuff with Duke. She wonders if Sonny was involved. Meanwhile, Jordan stands in the office. Ric pops up to taunt her about letting her son stay in jail. She's frustrated but her hands are tied. "Help my son," she begs and threatens. Ric goes in to see his client. Later, Dante arrives and chats with Valerie until a journalist runs in and starts accusing him of being a racist. Valerie tells him he's out of line and a 'shameless hack'. She boots him out. The cop appreciates her having his back. She says that family support each other.
Sonny strolls into the court room. Scott taunts him about putting TJ away. The lawyer is prosecuting him for aggravated battery since the guard's shoulder was injured. Sonny makes a call to Max. Ric, TJ. Molly and Jordan arrive. Ric asks Sonny to help by staying out of the arraignment for the sake of perception. Sonny agrees to stay outside. Scott gets a call. The guard has backed out of pressing charges. Scott could go on but it would be an uphill battle. He frees TJ to go. Jordan exits and finds Sonny. She asks him about the victim doing a 180. "Justice is served. That's all that matters," he says.
