The son of artist Franco and his dealer Ava Jerome, Kiki was kept apart from her father for almost her entire life. Her mother kept her sheltered, claiming that Franco was long dead, but that didn't stop Kiki from getting into mischief. She got involved with Morgan Corinthos thanks to her ties to internet gaming. He ran away from school and ended up living with her, hiding out from loan sharks. His family was forced to rescue him and bring him back to town. Kiki followed soon after. It wasn't long after that that she learned that her father was alive. Franco wanted a relationship with her.

In the courtroom, Michael reaches out to AJ before the verdict's read and says, "No matter what happens I love you." AJ's shocked when he hears the words "Not guilty." Scott's certain it's a mistake. Michael knew Diane was right about there not being enough evidence to convict. The judge reprimands Scott for his outburst at the jury before announcing that AJ's free to go. Scott tells AJ that he'll have to live with what he's done.
At the Quartermaine's, Luke wants to know what's riled Monica up. Tracy reminds him AJ's on trial and the verdicts in. She gloats it's curtains for AJ after murdering her friend Connie. Luke confirms that Tiffany administered the cure to Sean and he thinks Ava Jerome helped Jerry disappear. Tracy wants him to stay out of it since he almost died recently. Luke quips, "I'm all better." He opens champagne and tells Spanky it's time to savor the good. She would savor getting Monica out of the house. Monica walks in with AJ close behind. Tracy and Luke decide to go celebrate somewhere else. Monica thinks AJ should celebrate. Michael confides to Kiki that Sonny is not going to be happy. Later, AJ drinks alone after watching the news…the jury thought he was guilty but there was no evidence.
At the courthouse, Shawn confirms that Carlos has no connection to Lily's family. Sonny's ready to proceed as planned. Inside the courtroom, Michael advises AJ to listen to his lawyer after Diane warns him not to take the stand. AJ wants the jury to hear the truth. Diane refuses to represent him if he doesn't listen. He thanks her, and then fires her. Diane leaves and the judge asks AJ what he has to say. AJ returned to Port Charles intending to be a better man and father. He was until Connie wrote her article and he spiraled out of control. After blacking out that night, he can't remember anything but taking the gun from Tracy's safe and going to Crimson. He doesn't remember killing Connie and believes someone else could have. On cross examination Scott asks if AJ's intent was to kill Connie. AJ confesses it was, but he doesn't remember pulling the trigger. Later, AJ apologizes to Michael for torpedoing his case but Michael thinks AJ was amazing. Scott announces the jury reached a verdict.
