KATHIE'S DAILY RAMBLE (D&T)

Tonight was a very soapy episode. It is hard for me to call good or bad on it because tonight was the hated kisses so of course, I am biased. But since it is a beat that should propel the story to the next level, I am just gonna look at it as a step on the journey back to Jasam. As for story, it is still moving along nicely and at a decent pace and the show does keep me glued to my seat. There were also two stand out performances tonight.

Luke has been rendered completely Spencerless by Heather. He couldn't make the chair fall while Anna was outside the door? He couldn't get that goofy amateurish gag out of his mouth? He couldn't hop the chair over to the wall and bang on it? These are Spencer moves but instead he helplessly screamed into cloth. Such a shame to see him fall so far.

You would think Anna would have checked that shack for evidence since it was so close to where the body was buried. She still looks good and she actually found a dumped body so she is still in the way ahead column. Her missing her missing lover was just soapy even if stupid.

I am really enjoying Michael and Starr. Their awkward hesitancy is actually endearing. Now if she would just never sing again, I would be thrilled about this pairing.

Todd was his usual funny, stubborn, controlling self. I loved the throwing up thing and how he has a need to challenge everyone but him trying to convince Johnny that he was a badder guy than Johnny is was just so deluded that was enjoyable.

I liked Johnny. I am enjoying his fight for redmeption and how hard he is trying to change his life for love. Carly does make him want to be a better person, as werid as it is saying that about Carly. I really hope that they do somehow manage to redeem him and keep him and Carly together. I love this story for him. It was adorable when he calle dher a magnet for sociopaths and I also loved how he closed the door preactically right on Todd's nose.

I totally loved Carly today. She has chosen to forgive Johnny and stick by him and she is doing that with a vengeance. I am afraid for how she is going to fall apart when/if she finds out what his secrets are but right now she is happy and strong and actually being mature in a realtionship.

Maxie was a total wimp in the intervention. She just kept backing off and tryig to placate Patrick. She was completely useless except when she remembered Noah and threw that in there.

The first standout performance tonight was Lulu. I think JMB did a great job tonight. Lulu is not close to Patrick, she knows she really has no right to be there. Yet she can see that he is crisis and his whole life is about to crash. She is also someone whose life was effect by her father's substance abuse. She went toe to toe with Patrick, first trying to let Maxie do it since it was really her place but stepping up when Maxie failed. She attached every lie and excuse and showed them for what they were and kept pushing until Patrick gave them the pills and agreed to get help. But even then she wasn't fooled. She knows it is not going to be the walk in the Maxie thinks it is.

The other standout tonight was Patrick. He is completely unraveling under both his grief and addiction. JT played him as someone who was totally cornered and trying to fight his way out. He had been lyig to himself but Lulu was tearing apart his lies. He tried attacking and then defending. And in the end, when Maxie threw out his own past with Noah and how that could be his future with Emma, he finally stopped. At first, I think he only pretended to give in but by the end when he actually gave up the pills, he was just beaten. It was exhausting and heartrending to watch him. The only problem with his scenes were his jeans were too damned tight and he practically had to fight them to get teh pills out of the pocket. Someone needs to let wardrobe know that this is GH, not Knightrider.

I was not crazy about John tonight. He admitted that he was a part of the problem in Sam's marriage and he has risked his own relatinship kissing her, yet he still has no regrets about knowing her. Makes no sense since he admitted that they did not do each other a damned bit of good. I did like that even after kissing Sam, he was still supporting her marriage and trying to tell her that hiding behind her anger at Jason was a way for her to avoid dealing with her pain. I think he was right about that. He decided to leave town to go home and get ready for his family which was the right thing to do. So while I was not crazy about him, I couldn't hate him even though I wanted to.

I liked Liz again tonight. She was a little pushy about finding out what was going on but when you find a friend standing on a bridge distraught, maybe you need to be pushy. She was still trying to defend Sam and his marriage both before and after the kiss. She also gave Jason some great advice based on her own experience. She talked about wishing she gave herself time to process things before she reacted. And based on her past, Aiden would have been her only child if she had done so since both Jason and Zander were the very reactions she was talking about wishing she had waited on instead of acting. I hope that he takes her advice.

Sam was giving me whiplash tonight. She was pretty clear that the kiss would not have happened without the booze and the heartbreak but I think she was looking for an excuse. She just wanted to run away from what she had done and forget but John wouldn't let her. I liked that her initial reaction was that she did not want to betray her marriage. That shows that when she is not operating on her pain and anger, she knows deep down she still wants her marriage. But she was also confused by that and asked John how this would effect his relationship, after that her pain and anger did kick in and she didn't want to talk about what the kiss mean to her marriage, just to him and Natalie. I felt let down by her though when she talked John into keeping the kiss from Natalie. It seems that she hasn't learned from her own secret keeping or faced her own part in this mess. I do hope that realization comes upon her soon. In the end, she wanted to write it off as a drunken mistake. She should know by now that in Port Charles no one gets that luxury. I really hated that she was all sad about saying good-bye. John was a complication, she admitted that. Now she just needs to learn to really understand it. I think those moments are coming for her soon. She can not hide from her loss forever.

I was back and forth on Jason tonight too. I didn't like the kiss as for the rest, he was so lost and broken, I wanted to hug him. I felt so bad for him when saw the kiss and when he got the bridge. He was so upset and heartbroken. He really did not want to talk to Liz. He did not want to talk to anyone. Liz pushed him to tell and he was struggling just to say it. She practically had to pull the words out of him. And for once, he did not want to hear anyone telling him why Sam was doing things. He decided to take her at face value, she said they were over and she proved it. Then he kissed Liz, in response to Sam's actions but quickly stopped himself, knowing what he was doing was wrong. He apologized to her. He was using her and he did not want to do that to someone who was a good friend to him. He did seem to listen to Liz's advice when she was telling him to process things before reacting but when he whispered that he didn't know what to hope for anymore, I could feel his pain. I really could have lived without the kiss but everything with him is still all about Sam and his marriage. But right now he is at a loss as to whether he should even want that marriage anymore since he believes that Sam is done.

This was a rough night for us but it was so raw and emotional and we could see that their marriage is still important to the both of them. They just can't seem to find the way to stop screwing things up. I am looking for to the next beats in this story because now they have to deal with what they have done.

I'm back home and looking forward to posting in here on a regular basis again. But unfortunately I am quite a bit behind on the eppys so I might not be on much for a few hours...I haven't even read the updates on the last few eppys (maybe since last Tuesday?), so I am not even going to try to watch live today. It will have record and I will try to watch it later when I get caught up....though from what I have read on the daily recaps it might just be better to go to Y/T and just watch the JaSam scenes since nothing else has sounded tooo interesting...
