Blackie Parrish back in Port Charles.
John Stamos recently posted photos visiting the ABC studios and General Hospital set. Stamos said of his visit, "The Studs of #GH ! Visiting my old stomping grounds." Stamos also hung out with Kin Shriner (Scott Baldwin), Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase). He said of them, "Thanks for the hospitality boys. #Blackieforever." Shriner, who Stamos worked with on the soap opera, added on Twitter, "Long time friend @JohnStamos stopped by @GeneralHospital today reminiscing Scotty Blackie days pic by @justJimWarren!" Benard, Burton and Swickard also retweeted Stamos' photos and noted that they had fun hanging out with him on his surprise visit. The visit has sparked rumors that the actor may return to the show that gave him his break in Hollywood, a return many readers of Soaps.com have long wanted to see happen.
From 1982 to 1984 Stamos played Blackie Parrish on GH, the adopted son of Rick and Lesley Webber. Blackie met and became involved with Lou Swenson, who helped him form his band Blackie and the Riff Raff. Blackie played the drums, and the band's manager Steffi brought in Frisco Jones to be the singer. Blackie was under pressure to write a hit song, but writers block led him to stealing a song from the Port Charles Hotel bellboy Josh Clayton. Lou confronted Blackie, who she was also dating, over the theft. They fought over the tape of the song, when Steffi got involved, and a physical confrontation caused Lou to fall, hitting her head and dying from the injury. For his part in her death Blackie was sentenced to two years in prison for manslaughter.
Recently John Stamos and wife Caitlin McHugh welcomed their son, the first child for both. Season 4 of Stamos' show Fuller House has begun filming for Netflix, and he also plays the role of Dr. Nicky on the television romantic comedy You, which is about a clever bookstore manager who relies on his savvy internet know-how to make the woman of his dreams fall in love with him. The show stars Penn Badgley (Gossip Girl), Elizabeth Lail (Once Upon a Time) and Shay Mitchell (Pretty Little Liars).
In 2013 the actor met with the producers to have him return for GH's 50th anniversary, but passed on the return due to the fact that they only wanted him appear at the GH Nurses' Ball with Rick Springfield, who played Dr. Noah Drake. Since then his character's name often comes up during the annual Nurses' Ball. Blackie is mentioned as someone they failed to get to perform that year, or that plans to finally bring him in fell through due to a scheduling conflict. This indicates the character has long left prison, and is still on the show's radar. With his recent visit to the studio, could fans of GH finally see the return, if only briefly, of Blackie Parrish?
