"General Hospital" actor Jimmy Deshler (Rafe) has teamed up with actress Riley Beres ("Stupid Sister") to produce and direct the short film, "Hope For Our Own: An L.A. Story." The documentary will examine the epidemic of homelessness in Los Angeles, why it keeps growing and what can be done to change it. "This will be my first time being on the other side of the camera, I will be directing the film with Riley Beres. I'm excited to see things from a director's point of view and hope to learn a lot on this journey," Deshler explained.
Deshler and Beres will provide an inside view of the shelters and organizations that are helping the homeless. Their main goal is to educate the public and look at possibilities for social change. Deshler stated, "I have always enjoyed volunteering at shelters and helping the homeless any way possible. I've noticed the public's image of the homeless isn't always accurate, and I want to change that by showing the different causes and faces of homelessness."
In order to complete production, "Hope For Our Own" is currently seeking the help of businesses and other members of the community. If you would be interested in lending your support to the project, visit Hope For Our Own.
