Born Mauricio Morales, Actor Maurice Benard brings spice and seduction to his character Sonny. His first appearance on General Hospital was August 13, 1993.

Born in San Francisco, his parents were from Nicaragua and San Salvador. A naturally stunning dark look, Maurice landed several modeling jobs in his early 20's and decided to join in the variety of theatrical productions around the Bay area.

Maurice starred in his first soap "All My Children" in 1987 playing Nico Kelly, a role that fit him perfectly. Maurice relocated to Los Angeles in 1988 and soon cast in the much loved TV movie "Lucy & Desi: Before the Laughter" as Desi himself. Enjoying other television spots he successfully landed his role as Sonny in General Hospital in 1993.

Today, Maurice enjoys his life living in the Hollywood Hills with wife Paula and beautiful daughter Caelie, born September 1994. Martial arts and working out are just some of the pastimes he enjoys.
