Kathleen Gati was born and raised in Canada by Hungarian immigrants who embraced the arts. Her father was a symphony conductor and her mother was an opera singer. Gati began acting at age 3. By age 8, she had written, directed and starred in her first play.
Gati studied ballet until she was 20 when she moved to New York to pursue acting full time. She has performed in multiple plays on and off Broadway, as well as in many TV and film roles. She moved to Hungary for a movie role and stayed for five years before returning in the States, winning awards and gaining a large fan base while she was there.
