Biography

James Franco grew up in Palo Alto, California and became involved in acting when he attended UCLA. After leaving college after one year, Franco studied his craft at Robert Carnegie's Playhouse West. After his time there, he landed a role on the short-lived TV series "Freaks and Geeks" and followed that up with the miniseries "To Serve and Protect" and "Whatever it Takes."

Franco made a splash in the made for TV movie "James Dean" in 2001 for which he won a Golden Globe and then took on the role of Harry Osborne in the "Spider-Man" trilogy. He has steadily worked in films throughout his career including 2008's "Milk" for which he won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actor opposite Sean Penn.

In 2009, he shocked the Hollywood community when he took a role on General Hospital as the mysterious Franco.
