Farah gets some unsettling health news, Fary thinks Nadia's style is trashy, Galen goes too far, and Kelly tries to pack on the pounds.

Kelly meets with a Self magazine reporter, who wants to incorporate her "Dancing with the Stars" experience for a story. The energy needed for dance worries Kelly because she knows she is too thin. Her General Hospital co-star, Steve Burton introduces her to his nutritionist, John. She jokes that maybe they will be making out before the day is over. Kelly wants to be healthy, and Steve advises her to eat real food. Kelly hopes she doesn't lose her rack. She decides to take a cooking class to learn how to maintain a healthy weight. Kelly ends up rocking her photo shoot and is proud of herself for setting a healthy example, not to mention make us all jealous of her fabulousness in the making.

Farah and her mom, Lisa, lunch with Nadia and her mom, Fary. Fary tells Farah she looks much thinner and asks about her boyfriend. For once, Farah is rendered speechless, as Fary tells her not to make a mistake buying a house with her boyfriend like Nadia did. Nadia is disgusted by Fary slamming her choice in men.

Galen wants to teach his sons how important sports are, so he enrolls them in karate. He's pumped to live out his sports fantasies through his sons, since he had to take ballet as a child. Ironically, the normally sedate Galen gets scolded by the instructor for being too enthusiastic. His enthusiasm doesn't stop there, and he decides to teach his sons kickboxing and other karate acts when they return home. A nervous Jenna thinks it is a bad idea when Galen has the boys break wooden boards with their bare hands. Their youngest begins to cry after hitting the board. Jenna takes the boys inside to play and the oldest boy kicks over his little brother's toy. Jenna pulls Galen aside and is confusingly the voice of reason, as she sets some ground rules.

Farah's friends, Danny and Nathaniel, joke about wanting to move in with Farah and JP at their apartment. Danny claims he is going to have a child with Farah and have beautiful big-lipped babies. He forgot the natural eye-rolling and speaking fluent sarcasm. Alone with Danny later, Farah wonders if she should ask her doctor about donating an egg for him. Danny wonders why she all of a sudden has one life to give. She wants to move forward with learning more about it because she loves him. He thinks it makes perfect sense since JP doesn't want a baby.

Nadia tells Brandon that In Touch Weekly is doing a photo shoot at their home. She wants to redecorate. He is open to hiring a decorator, but not open to Fary's advice. A glutton for punishment, Nadia calls Fary over for her advice. Fary actually agrees with Brandon and likes the couch, but hates everything else. Nadia wishes she had not asked for her help. They go to meet with their designer, Michelle, and Fary slams her decorating style. Michelle remains her calm as Fary tells her everything she does is ugly. Brandon hides in the shadows, ecstatic that Fary hates someone else other than him for a moment. When leaving, Fary tells Michelle it was nice meeting her, but she would never use her thrift-shop designer ideas.

JP meets Farah at her apartment. She interrupts his gross rat trap story with the bombshell that she has to return to New York for surgery. She informs him that her pap smear was abnormal, and her biopsy revealed pre-cancerous cells on her cervix. JP promises to be there with her through her surgery, but he seems nonresponsive and more into his rat story. At the hospital, he fails to find a place to park and Farah is annoyed when she has to walk several blocks post-surgery. She tells him he failed his mission. Danny stops by to check on her. Farah delivers the unfortunate news that she has to heal before being his donor. He isn't in any rush and thinks what is meant to be is meant to be, and maybe a little bit relieved to have escaped creating a mini-know-it-all with Farah.

Both Fary and Michelle are present for Nadia and Brandon's photo shoot. Fary tells Michelle the house is ugly. Fary blames Brandon for the ugly house. Nadia tries to tell her that people have different tastes and she needs to know when to quit. Fary claims Nadia hurt her feelings for not wanting her help. Nadia and Brandon get all lathered up for their photo shoot, which Fary thinks is trashy. Nadia later shows Fary the pictures, but Fary still hates them. Fary believes Nadia isn't really happy. Instead of hauling off and punching her in the face, Nadia calmly asks Fary to respect her life. Fary does admit she is proud of her.

    Next week on "Dirty Soap:"

Brandon tells JP that Farah is too bossy.

Kelly tries to reconnect with a friend.

Brandon tells Nadia that Fary's negativity is effecting their lives.

Feel free to leave a comment about your take on tonight's "Dirty Soap."

    Ally's Thoughts:

Every week, I'm more impressed with how calm Nadia remains around her over-bearing mother, Fary. Granted, Nadia has had a lot more time to get used to Fary's ways. She handles her quite well. At the same time, why does Nadia invite such drama into her life? Why would she call Fary over for advice, knowing Fary would have nothing but negative things to say? I am sure Nadia wants to respect her mother, but until Fary respects her and Brandon in return, they shouldn't invite her over so much.

While I can appreciate being a stay-at-home mom, being a work-at-home mom myself, I just wish Galen and Jenna were more exciting. I know how tough it can be to make time for one another, but they just seem to be going through the motions. Forget the karate, show us the romance! If I wanted to be bored, I'd just watch Sami and Rafe on "Days of our Lives."

Now, while I find Farah to be totally annoying, I felt bad for her in tonight's episode. JP was not the supportive boyfriend he should have been. She tells him she is having pre-cancerous cells removed, and he just sat there and seemed totally uneffected. While he offered to be there for her, it seemed like it was more of a chore for him. Again, it could just be bad editing, but I was a bit turned off by his lack of support.

Finally, Kelly seems like such a cool chick. She admits her flaws and does her best to do what she can with them. I wish her buddy, Kirsten, was around. I know she's sick, but maybe they could at least work in a phone chat between the two? It was also a treat to see Steve Burton!

To say the least, I was highly entertained throughout this episode

Fary is just too much . . . over the top!!! I find her hysterical (and almost a caricature - lol), but I feel sorry for Nadia that she has to deal with that kind of behavior in her real life! I bet things were different when her father was around. That man probably knew how to tame her (for lack of better word coming to mind at the moment), and perhaps she's compensating for the loss of her husband by trying to control Nadia's life now. I think Nadia's the only girl in the family too, which doesn't help. Fary seems to be living vicariously through Nadia . . poor girl. Next week's show looks even more dramatic with Nadia coming to tears over her mother's behavior and causing problems for her & Brandon. I would have loved to have seen Farah's mom say more to Fary during their lunch date so Fary could realize (maybe just a little bit) how out of line she is!

Jenna & Galen were absolutely boring. Jenna seems to LOVE being a mother . . . even to Galen! Honestly, the way she talks to him is like a little child, and he responds accordingly. He just sits there & listens to her like a child listens to a scolding from a parent. So disturbing to watch. I just want to say to him, "Stand up & be a man!!!!" His behavior at the karate lesson was also ridiculous the way he kept peeking in & disturbing the class. So childish :-(

I love Kelly! If I had time in my life to watch another soap, I'd start watching General Hospital just to see her in action. She seems to have a fantastic sense of humor and is so down to earth. She seems like she'd be a great friend and lots of fun to hang out with. Plus, I love the fact that she's honest about her weight and the fact that she doesn't want to be a stick. She's definitely a petite person, but when her costars are telling her she's the skinniest they've seen her in 12 years, that's something to be concerned about, and I love the steps she took to work on her "self". Great role model!!!!

How ironic that Farah ended up having a surgery just two weeks after finding out about Kirsten's condition. Odd for two young girls and also oddly coincidental. The whole thing Farah and the egg donor thing for her gay friend was also kinda weird. He does seem like quite an amazing friend, but that's a HUGE commitment, and it reminds me of that movie with Jennifer Aniston when she falls in love with the gay guy (can't think of what it's called). Kinda sad all around though. I wonder what her conservative family would think about all that? JP totally failed in supporting her. Honestly, I don't get that relationship! They seem to make a better foursome (JP/Farah & the gay friends) than they do a hetero couple.

I wonder where Kirsten is??? No mention of her at all in the last two episodes :-( I miss her & her family on this show. Hope she's okay and hope to see her back on real soon!!!!

LOL @ Ally!!!! I just read your comments now, and I couldn't agree more about Rafe/Sami & Galen/Jenna!!! The only difference is that Rafe seems to be more of a man than Galen . . . sadly :-( Agree with you on everything else!!!

    great recap Ally!

I agree about Nadja and the way she deals with her mother. I expect it will come to a boil soon. As for Farah, she doesn't annoy me at all as I've always thought that JP was to a certain extent leading her on. Her concerns about her age and having children (and having the energy to be a parent -- a working mother) are valid. If he wants to be Peter Pan then fine but she's going to have to move on and dump him.

    Hi all.

    I just love this show.

Poor Nadia. When Fary was insulting Michelle, I said OMG This woman just doesn't stop. It was good to see Nadia put her in her place.

Galen the two way mirror is there for a reason. OMG he is one of those side line parents who have no boundaries. I think it's good he wants he son to do karate & his son seems to like it. They just need some ground rules. No karate on his brother, on the dog or in the house.

I was a little disappointed in JP. The dr's office had a parking garage so why didn't he park in it? He just left Farah hanging before her surgery then they took a cab home. I would have been so pissed. Hope the surgery was successful & Farah doesn't get sick in the future.

Now my girl Kelly. She rocks. I absolutely love her. Putting out the effort to gain weight is something you don't see a lot of in Hollywood. Good for her. And my man Steve Burton made an appearance. Any extra time I get to see him makes me happy.

I agree, It was a treat to see Steve Burton.
Fary is just out of control! Its time for Nadia to put her in place!

Jenna & Galen are soo boring.

Fary has NO sense of occasion, it's uncomfortable to watch. If I was Nadia, I would have put her in her place much more. She just laughs, which makes Fary think that her actions doesn't have consequences.

Last but not least, and people will probably hate this, but Kelly seemed a little fake to me. I've seen recent photos of her and she has not gained any weight, she still looks way too thin. I think she was just pretending to think she was too skinny to make herself seem like a good role model, but come on... Don't just talk the talk, walk the walk

Posted by levann at Tuesday, November 01 2011 12:18 PM

I honestly think that much of what we see with Kelly is slanted to make her "look good". Her ex didn't really even talk back to her when he was on and that is not at all realistic. Most breakups have more than one side to them. I thought those scenes were a farce.

I dont know what upsets me more.. the obvious character saving tactics producers are jamming down our throats, for Farah.. or the reality tv "acting" of this girl. When she was herself, she was a bitchy, nagging, backstabbing gossip..turned nagging, bitchy gossip, turned nagging sympathetic girl, to vitim??!!?? really?
I hope noone else is buying this.. "health scare" my heinie..
JP didnt take it seriously, cause it wasnt serious... should he have been there for his girl friend.. sure, but shouldnt that tell her he's not as commited as she is? get a clue, he doesnt want to marry you.. other then NOT asking you, he's telling you in every other way...
When you told your gay, that he wanted your eggs cause you were the prettiest, was probably the most honest moment of the episode.. made all the better when he told you no.

Nadias mother is way too much. I give her credit for tring to balance the love of her mother and her boyfriend... congrats for finding a loving man who puts up with the insults from this
    Kelly is AWESOME!!!
    I love her..
she is a great friend, funny, and clearly responsible of her image of being a roll model.

Thanks for the comments, everyone! It's a bummer that there are only two episodes left. I'm hoping to see Kirsten before the show wraps up. What about you?
