Vivian shares her engagement news, Nathan dumps Stephanie, and an arrest is made.

Vivian slinks into the hospital and sees Carly, wondering whose life she’ll take next. She puts Carly on edge and taunts her until Justin arrives and kicks her out, reminding her of the restraining order. Vivian had that order revoked months ago and tells Carly she’s putting down roots by marrying Victor. Carly and Justin’s jaws drop. Vivian runs off.

At Java Café, Steph tells Adrienne all about the letter and admits she’s ashamed that she kept it from Nathan and then lied about its contents. Adrienne’s disappointed. Steph knows what she did was selfish and says Nathan can never find out.

On the pier, Melanie cries to Nathan about her father’s condition and moves in for a hug. Philip finds them together and Melanie rushes into his arms. He heard about Daniel and reassures her that her father will be fine. He tells Nathan to run along. He has things covered. Nathan goes off to check on Daniel and Philip wonders if he should feel jealous. Melanie assures him he has no cause and proves it with a deep kiss. They’re lounging on the bench when Vivian pops up to share her engagement news. They’ll finally be family! Philip wonders what Vivian’s smoking. Vivian goes on about how virile Victor is and asks Melanie for her thoughts on the upcoming nuptials. Melanie stammers and Vivian hopes she hasn’t come on too strong. She encourages them to move back into the mansion and takes off. Melanie says that’s not going to happen. Philip agrees. "Not while Mary Poppin' Pills is living there, no."

EJ visits Benny at Salem Inn. They discuss Anna getting Nicole a pardon and Benny worries that Nicole knows he and Anna were working together. EJ needs to ensure Benny’s not going to be trouble for him and reaches for something in his breast pocket, making Benny nervous. EJ takes out an envelope and tells Benny to make himself scarce. Benny’s relieved it’s not a gun and agrees to leave town for good.

Rafe interrogates Nicole at Salem PD. She agrees to tell him everything but lies, saying she and Anna were partners. Rafe doesn’t believe her. Nicole admits she’s only telling him what he wants to hear. She and Anna shared a connection, because they were DiMera wives. Anna probably felt guilty for allowing Nicole to go to jail for the Sydnapping. Rafe walks her through exactly how he thinks things went down. He’s right on target. Nicole doesn’t care who did it, she’s just happy to be free. She says she’s there to get back what’s hers and asks him to say hello to Arianna. Later, Rafe searches through surveillance photos and finds one of Benny buying a newspaper and diapers while packing a gun. Rafe learns he’s known as "Benny the man," and "Benny buttons," and puts out an APB on him.

Nathan wanders by the pub flashing back to Melanie telling him what was in the letter. He can’t get her out of his head. Inside, EJ makes a call to Benny, who is at the airport. Benny promises EJ doesn’t have to worry about him, and after they hang up, Benny takes the memory card from his cell phone, dumps it in a glass of booze and throws away the phone. Rafe arrives and Benny’s feeling generous so pays for Rafe’s beer, as they discuss women and how Rafe wishes he had the cash to find his lady friend, Anna DiMera. Benny’s face loses color and he gets up to leave but Rafe tells him he’s a fed and says he’s got other men watching them. They discuss the Sydnapping but Benny plays innocent. Rafe says they got his DNA on file and matched it to one of Sydney’s stuffed animals. Rafe offers a deal if Benny rats on who Anna was working with and where she went. Benny refuses to talk but asks for a lawyer. He’s cuffed and led away.

Meanwhile, Nicole flounces into the pub, sits down at EJ’s table and asks if he missed her. He cringes and makes an effort to read the Salem Spectator. She tells him her record was expunged and he asks why she’s in Salem. Nicole says it’s home and toys with him. He must be really ticked off at Anna. After all he did for her after Tony’s death, she double crossed him. EJ mutters that he was never close with Anna so she couldn't betray him. Nicole thinks they were friends and was surprised Anna would hurt EJ by taking Sydney. She knows why Anna took her. EJ’s tired of the games and grabs Nicole by the wrist and tells her to get to the point. Nicole pulls away and asks what’s got into him. EJ claims to be paranoid because he’s traumatized from Sydney’s kidnapping.

Back at Java Café, Adrienne wonders if Stephanie has just delayed the inevitable. You can’t stop somebody from caring for another. They say their goodbyes and Nathan arrives to tell Stephanie that it’s not fair that they keep dating considering he still has feelings for Melanie.

Back at the hospital, Justin realizes that marrying Vivian is sending Carly a message. As long as Carly and Bo are together, he’ll keep the deadly snake around ready to strike. Adrienne arrives and greets Carly and Justin. She’s cold with Carly, surprised that she and Bo hooked up. She urges her not to get too comfortable. Not with Hope around.

Nicole tells EJ, "You are scared, and now I just have to figure out why."

Sami tells Rafe, "I want us to be together."
