Nicole has second thoughts about what she's doing, the search for Sydney continues, and Vivian wants to be a part of Philip's life.
EJ interrupts Roman and Arianna, and Roman comments that he didn’t hear EJ coming in. EJ says he’s sure whatever they were discussing was very important. He assumes it’s about Gabi. Ari says they know nothing new and Gabi feels really bad about helping Nicole. EJ says it’s not her fault and after Ari leaves, EJ tells Roman he has news.
Rafe and Sami use the phone and the internet to look for Sydney. Sami threatens that Nicole will have wished she was never born when she finds her. Sami says her brother Eric called Nicole from Colorado but she hasn’t returned his call, yet. It was worth a shot, at least! Roman calls after speaking with EJ and thinks they’ve got a lead. Sami and Rafe head to the pub.
In Cleveland, Nicole packs up and bumps into the motel manager, who flashes a newspaper photo of Nicole and Sydney. The headlines read, "DiMera Child Kidnapped." Nicole reluctantly admits it’s her but says her husband is controlling and abusive and she finally got strength to leave him. Nicole tries to leave but the uneducated woman says, "I got 911 on speed dial and I ain’t afraid to use it." Nicole thinks if Marge calls the police, they’ll see the shady goings on there. It would be up to Nicole to inform them on everything she has seen and heard. Marge backs off and lets Nicole slip by.
Vivian wants to take a photo of Philip at the mansion to show her friends but he refuses and reminds her that she’s not his mother and never will be. Why is she playing games with him? Vivian says they share a bond but Philip reminds her she stole an embryo and implanted it into herself. She has regrets and tells him she didn’t use him but he doesn’t want to hear it. "Get out of my life and stay out," he tells her. She has never stopped caring for him, she insists and would never manipulate him the way Kate has. Philip thinks if she has his best interest at heart, she’ll leave. Vivian knows he needs her now more than ever and she’s staying!
At Cheatin’ Heart, Melanie spots Brady putting up flyers of Nicole and Sydney. "What a psycho," Melanie says. She’s quick to apologize and thinks he at least has Arianna. Brady admits they broke up and Melanie can see it’s because of Nicole. Brady tells Melanie of Nicole’s terrible upbringing and how he understands her. Melanie gives him a heads up. Nicole doesn’t love him back. Brady says that you can’t choose who you’ll fall in love with and that gives Melanie pause. "You’re right," she says. She just wants to be a good friend. Arianna arrives and Melanie leaves them alone. They discuss Nicole. He hasn’t heard from her and believes he can convince her to return with Sydney. "Because of the great love you have, right," she says, and wishes him luck.
Nearby, Melanie sits with a friend and dishes on dating Nathan. Philip arrives and they make eye contact, making Melanie uncomfortable. She goes to him and can see he is upset. He explains that Vivian, the woman who stole him when he was still an embryo and implanted him into her has returned. "Now that incubator mom has returned she wants to coddle me." Melanie listens and thinks he has had it rough. She too had a tough childhood so can see what he’s going through. She holds his hand and he thanks her for being there.
At the hospital, Nathan forces Stephanie to sit down so he can take a look at her ankle. She gazes at him, lustily and he can see something’s on her mind. Things have been strained between them lately and he wonders why they’re awkward. She plays innocent and Stephanie knows that Melanie thinks she has a thing for him and is planning to make a play for him. Nathan confesses that from the moment they met, he thought she could potentially be somebody he’d want to be involved with. Stephanie asks what would happen if she did have a thing for him? Nathan’s not sure what to say so she admits she really is interested in him. He thinks it’s great that she’s so honest, but… She can see he feels put on the spot. Later, Stephanie fantasizes about making out with Nathan but realizes it’s not going to happen.
Sami and Rafe arrive at the pub and EJ fills them in on the call Nicole made. Sami assures EJ they’ll get their daughter back and they hold hands while Rafe and Roman stare, uncomfortably. Roman gets a call and Sami goes ballistic and twists her ankle when she freaks out after learning that his men aren’t sure they can trace the call from Nicole. EJ holds her and comforts her and she starts to yell and rant that she can’t handle this, so Rafe hugs her and promises they’ll get her daughter back. Arianna arrives and she tells Rafe that Nicole hasn’t returned Brady’s calls. She has to get back to work.
Nicole goes to the man for her passport and he demands more money. She offers a hundred but he takes it all and rushes off. Nicole has no bus money. She sits with a woman who wants to hold Sydney. As she’s talking to Syd, Nicole steals the woman’s cell phone and throws her own into the trash. Later, she feels bad for stealing and tells Sydney they’re heading to Canada. She worries about Brady, who is the best person she knows. She realizes that people must know he posted her bail and worries he’s in trouble because of it. She makes a call to him and lets him know she’s worried he was arrested for helping her. Brady’s surprised and she says she cares about him. Aside from Sydney, he’s the only person she cares for. If that’s true, he says, then she should come home now. She can’t and reminds him of Sami’s misdeeds, too. She doesn’t want to get into it and assumes he doesn’t care about her. He’s with Arianna. He denies it. They split up because of her and how he is in love with her. Nicole is teary eyed, but the phone goes dead before they can finish their call. She wonders what she should do. Maybe she’s doing the wrong thing?
Brady rushes to the pub and tells the gang about Nicole’s call. He thinks he got through to her!
Nathan walks into the Cheatin’ Heart as Melanie and Philip are holding hands and moving in for a kiss. He spots them and stops in his tracks.

Nicole tells somebody on the phone that she has to go. The bus is leaving.
