Lucas confronts Sami, Chad learns Stefano's alive, and Julie tells Lucas that Nick Fallon's up for parole.
Sami arrives home, much to Will's surprise. He can't get over the fact that Stefano's alive. Sami flashes to kissing EJ and listening to Rafe ask why she threw it all away. She mumbles about being confused. She calls Will a rock. He laughs and thinks about sex with Gabi. Sami's gearing up to talk to Lucas. She flubs and refers to Lucas as Rafe, which makes Will grin. Later, the kids wake up, and Sami tells the kids their daddy's fine and starts a tickle fight. Caroline stops by. They fold laundry and Caroline talks about Sami's drama.
Maggie rushes in to see Victor at the pub. She needs to see Melanie and is shocked to hear Madi's dead. Victor shares details and says Brady knew for two days. They discuss Nick Fallon's parole hearing and Maggie needs to find Melanie.
Melanie bursts into the mansion to console Brady over Madi's death. They discuss Andrew and her past, being abducted by Nick Fallon. She's worried the nightmares will return. Melanie starts to feel guilty, as though it's her fault he wasn't with Madi when she died. Brady assures her that's not the case. She leaves and Victor and Maggie arrive, so sorry to hear about Madison's death. He shouldn't be alone to deal with this. Brady says Melanie just left and is back at work. Maggie nags Brady to take care of himself even though he is grieving. Victor hugs Brady, who calls him Gramps. They blame Ian for all of this. "He deserves to rot in hell," Victor spouts but Maggie wants them to focus on their time with Madison. Maggie leaves and Victor offers to off Ian. "No," Brady says. He may look up Madi's sisters to help plan a memorial.
Julie finds Lucas at the square and beams that Nick could return to Salem. He has a parole hearing. Lucas wonders about how Melanie will feel about this. Julie hopes she'll think of it in the most positive way but Lucas doesn't see how that's possible, considering he abducted her. Julie reminds Lucas that the cause was the prescription drugs. Lucas recalls Nick almost killing Melanie but Julie says he has changed. Lucas tries not to allow Julie to set herself up for a fall. It's the second time Melanie has lived through a nightmare like this.
Kate arrives at Chad's door with good news. "Your father's alive." Chad calls her a liar. He saw Stefano's body. "The phoenix has risen again." She hands him an envelope from Stefano. Chad learns EJ found Stefano and he'll be fine. Chad's pissed that Stefano took off from the hospital. He reads Stefano's note which says Stefano's going away to regroup but he'll return. Chad's reluctant to admit that Stefano warned him to stay away from Kate. She takes off.
Gabi sits on her bed, remembering sex with Will. Rafe arrives. She rushes into his arms. He's glad she's doing fine. "I love you kid." They update each other on their lives but Gabi doesn't reveal that she paid Andrew to stalk her. Gabi wonders if it was hard to arrest Sami. He recalls caressing her hair but shrugs off the arrest. They talk about a pregnant Carrie returning to Switzerland with Austin and how it's for the best. Still, Gabi worries. He's alone. They head downstairs and find Will. Rafe's glad Will's not in jail especially after aiding and abetting. Will scoffs. EJ did nothing wrong! Rafe leaves and the make a show of telling each other last night was a mistake. Each feels they've lead each other on. "I got into a fight with someone and wasn't thinking straight." He pauses. "Well, I was thinking straight!" They laugh and Gabi says she is no longer deluded about being with Chad. Gabi asks if Will's now straight or bisexual. "No. I'm pretty completely gay," he answers. Gabi pretends he has hurt her feelings and when he fumbles for an apology, she yells, "Gotcha."
Melanie walks up to the nurse's station to tell Maxine not to be nice to her. Maxine responds that things seem the same as always, with Melanie already getting up in her face! They banter a bit and Maxine hugs her, glad she's back. Mel's glad to be back - to be anywhere. Julie turns up and says Abigail needs her family right now more than ever, so she hopes Mel won't stand in the way of Nick's parole. Melanie's jaw drops. "Nick's up for parole?"
Kate tells Billie and Lucas that Stefano's still alive. "Why is it never anyone you like that comes back from the dead," Lucas jokes. Billie knew about the news already. Kate was happy about the news but hears Stefano wants nothing to do with her.
Rafe talks to SPD at the square and learns Sami made bail. He calls Sami but hangs up before she answers. Later, Sami bumps into him.
