John and Marlena's plans go awry, the search for Melanie begins, and Andrew shows a darker side.
Gabi runs after Chad through the square, grasping at straws, trying to get Chad not to start a search for Melanie. Can he trust Daniel, she wonders. He arrives after hanging up with Carly, who is frantic with worry. Abby and Cameron turn up. Abby hasn't heard from Melanie. She's filled in on what is going on. Everyone starts making calls, searching for Melanie. Abigail worries something has happened.
Melanie cringes when Andrew comes at her in the cell, yelling about her recent escape attempt. When Gabi texts that she's coming over, Andrew ties a crying Melanie up and leaves the room. Gabi is there and begs him to let Melanie go. If the police find out what they've done, her brother will never speak to her again. Andrew doesn't care. He's in control now. Gabi threatens to go to Rafe. Andrew has recorded an incriminating discussion between him and Gabi about kidnapping Melanie and again reminds her he's in control. Andrew's tired of Gabi pushing him around. Gabi tries another tactic. She asks Andrew to take Melanie far away from there. Andrew gushes about how much in common he has with Mel. He doesn't seem to grasp that the police are already likely searching for her. Inside the cell, Melanie scrapes her bracelet on the wall.
At the townhouse, John says technically, he's a DiMera, so he plans on taking over DiMera Enterprises. Marlena thinks it'll make Salem a safer place to live. Lucas is in. John thinks Elvis John is vulnerable right now. Lucas is giddy and wants to start now. They call all of the board members, hoping they'll get help pushing EJ out of the company. Later, none of the members of the board want to help. They're scared so John says they'll come up with something else. Lucas leaves and Marlena tells John, "It stinks." John agrees. "Yeah. It stinks."
Sami shoves EJ at home. She hopes they lock him away for life. Her kids are better off without him. He lashes out at her parenting skills and she tries hitting him. He grabs her arm and she pants on him and tells him she hates him. They are lip-to-lip about to kiss when she pulls away, yelling, "Why does this keep happening?" They're both flustered and thankful nothing happened. Sami does laundry while they rehash the same argument of EJ's possible guilt and her inability to be there for him. He tries leaving and she asks him to stay. She apologizes and recants her earlier statements against him but she still can't believe him. EJ asks her to protect the kids no matter what happens. Sami gushes about how the children use some of EJ's British sayings and they bond over this. EJ finds Sami sounding more supportive. "You're not giving me much choice," she replies. He assumes deep down she knows he's innocent. They hug just as Lucas walks in. "You've got to be kidding me," he spits out.
Bo and Hope call Ciara from SPD, set a dinner date and are interrupted by Chad and Daniel with news of Melanie's disappearance. Bo and Hope will check Melanie's email account, credit cards and Chad's apartment. Daniel calls the hospital for news and tries to get Chad to relax. Bo learns something but wants to wait for Hope to arrive to tell them. Bo asks Chad to discuss his fight with Melanie. Chad tells him everything and wonders if he's a suspect. Bo says there's been no activity on her credit cards and the last text she sent Chad was the last time she used her cell. Hope returns with Melanie's passport and everyone goes pale.
Cameron and Abigail head to the pub. Abby calls Maggie who is out of town with Victor and worried because Mel didn't ask for time off. Abby calls Philip who hasn't seen Melanie. Abby and Cam discuss him growing up without Celeste. He confesses he prayed she'd come home to him. Abby calls Dario, who hasn't heard from Melanie in months. Cam asks Abby not to tell anyone that he prayed. "A real man doesn't need to rely on a higher power." Abby finds it sexy. She shows him how much with a passionate kiss and he agrees to contact a psychiatrist Melanie visited to discuss her parents.
