Melanie tries to escape, Rafe and Carrie say goodbye, and Will makes demands of EJ.
At the mansion Will tells EJ, "I know Stefano is not your father, you are not a DiMera." EJ suggests he get his facts straight. He doesn't know what William is thinking but suggests he stop it. Will tells him he's going to use this to his advantage. EJ thinks he's making a foolish mistake. Will cockily brings up the letter and kicks open the drawer to show EJ it's empty. EJ supposes he should be impressed and wonders what he intends on doing. Will laughs. EJ declares nothing has changed but Will suggests that information like this is dangerous - if it got out people would think it was a motive for murder. Will says he has leverage and you don't give that up. EJ doesn't want to play his game. He asks Will what he wants. Will wants his car and apartment… an official job with the company and a nice salary. He also wants power. The power of knowing you have the fate of another person in your hands. EJ says power like that can't just be handed over. Will wants to be his right-hand man. EJ says he can't be, he's not a DiMera. Will mentions the irony of the DiMera empire being run by two people without a drop of DiMera blood in them. EJ advises Will to be careful. He threatens that he could make one call and the situation would cease to exist. Will thought he might threaten him but he has a back-up plan. He's given the letter to someone else with instructions to take it to the police if something happens to him. EJ announces he'll find the letter. Will laughs and tells him he gave it to a random lawyer. EJ reminds him of the last time he tried to blackmail him and the statute of limitations on attempted murder hasn't expired. Will suggests EJ call the police - they know what will happen if he does. He reminds EJ that he will lose his inheritance and identity but it's his call. Will heads out while saying to himself, "Happy Independence Day to me," then comes back to declare he owns EJ now.
Chad and Gabi sit down in the square. Chad shares that he was supposed to have a picnic and watch fireworks with Melanie. He can't believe she didn't call him back after he told her about Lexi - it's so not her. What if something happened to her? He tells Gabi he can't lose Mel too. Gabi tells him Melanie should be there for him. She gets a text. Chad wonders if it's her stalker. Gabi says it’s someone else and wonders if her stalker has given up. Chad suggests she can move back into her own apartment.
In his basement Andrew tells Melanie she's not going anywhere. He brings her the newspaper and pours her a mug of steaming herbal tea to keep her calm. She just wants to go home. She reads that it's July 4th then sees the news of Lexi's death. She begs him to let her go. She wonders what he plans on doing with her. Melanie takes the tea and throws it at Andrew. He grabs her and throws her to the bed. Later, Melanie dreams of Chad bursting into the room to save her. Meanwhile, Andrew paces outside the room. Gabi shows up. Andrew tells her he's figured out what her stalker would do next. She wants him to do something simple - and do it today. Gabi admits Chad didn't react how she thought he would and Andrew laughs that Gabi can't get Chad to make a move on her. Gabi thinks Melanie might be a problem but Andrew assures her that she won't be. Gabi wonders why he keeps looking at the door. She peeks in and demands to know what he did to Melanie.
Rafe runs into Carrie at the park and tells her that Sami thinks the baby is his. Carrie recounts the confrontation she had with Sami and mentions Nicole's baby, but Rafe doesn't care what Sami thinks. Carrie knows the truth about Nicole's baby and that's what matters. He wishes he would have told her earlier. Carrie didn't think her life would be like it is, with unresolved issues and questions. Rafe laughs, he thought he had it all figured out but it all changed. Carrie thinks it will take time to move on. Rafe says he's sorry for what Sami did. They hope she won't do it again. Carrie shares that she had an ultrasound. She breaks into tears. It's not fair. She doesn't know how to do this but needs to avoid him. They say goodbye.
