EJ learns of Stefano's betrayal, Melanie and Chad make love again, and Carrie confronts Rafe.
Chad wakes Melanie up with kisses after their night of love-making in his apartment. Chad gives her a dressing gown that she can keep at his place. Mel makes him breakfast out of what little there is in his fridge, but he wants sex. They start kissing and Mel's dressing gown comes off. They make love and Chad professes his love for Melanie.
Daniel meets Rafe with a file at the square. He hopes it helps. Rafe can't believe he's faking a paternity test. "What am I, Sami?" Daniel asks Rafe to ask himself why he wants to do this. Does Rafe have any idea of what EJ will do when he finds out? Rafe admits he didn't even know what he was doing when he got involved. He and Nicole aren't even friends! He's never felt this way before but thinks he's trying to get back at EJ. He's always been so black and white in the past. He can't believe he kissed his wife's sister. Daniel suggests there's more between him and Carrie. Rafe agrees, he has to tell her the truth.
At the pub, Carrie sighs and flashes to kissing Rafe and then remembers overhearing Rafe telling EJ he's Nic's baby daddy. Carrie calls Rafe and they agree to meet. He turns up and surprises Carrie by telling her he missed her and cares about her a lot. She tells him to stop pretending and reminds him she's married. He apologizes and is about to tell her the truth about his feelings for her when Austin shows up. Austin wants to put the tension behind them by severing Carrie and Rafe's professional relationship. Rafe signs the papers and Austin asks for assurance that Rafe's respectful of his marriage with Carrie. They all agree to remain friends. The men leave and Carrie bumps into Rafe on her way out. Carrie confronts him about getting Nicole pregnant. Rafe cringes. She asks why he didn't tell her. He didn't want to hurt her. He tries telling her it's not what she thinks. She tries to leave and he stops her. He wants to tell her the truth.
In the woods, Nicole calls Stefano. She knows he sabotaged the election and is pretty sure he doesn't want to get this out. She orders him to call back so they can settle this.
Billie walks into the DiMera mansion and since nobody's home, she starts snooping. She finds a hidden drawer with documents inside when EJ finds her. He doesn't let her see him. He hollers for Harold to have his car cleaned and makes idle chatter with Billie about why he's working from home. He wants privacy so she reluctantly takes off. EJ opens the secret cupboard and rifles through the documents, incensed by what he learns. Outside, Billie calls Agent Spencer to update him on her findings. Meanwhile, Nicole arrives to get her belongings and finds EJ yelling. He tells her his father betrayed him. Nic already knew. EJ demands to know how she knew he framed John Black. Nicole's confused. She didn't know about that. She says Stefano rigged the election so Abe would win. EJ's perplexed. "Why would my own father want to destroy me?" Nicole reminds him there's no honor between thieves, reminding him of what he did to John Black. EJ takes the full credit. He was trying to prove to Stefano that he was ready to run his company. EJ realizes he's been a fool. Nicole tells him to keep what he did quiet or he'll go to prison. He is sure she's not going to send the father of her baby to prison. She ignores that and he starts throwing things at the thought of his father pulling his strings. EJ tells her the whole point of the class action suit was to give the investors their money back. Nicole's confused. "What happened to the money?" EJ put it in offshore accounts to keep it secure, but the money is gone.
Billie bumps into Austin at the square. His appointment is delayed so they catch up. Billie learns that Abigail lied about having sex with him. Billie's thrilled things will work out between him and Carrie but it's one thing to say it'll work and quite another to make it happen. Austin's determined to be the guy Carrie fell for. Billie checks her phone, hoping for a call from Spencer. She mutters to Austin that a watched cell never rings and they talk about Rafe and Carrie dissolving their partnership.
