Mel gets a second job, Daniel has drinks with Austin, and Jennifer's put out by Jack's behavior.
At Alice's, Jennifer tells Jack she's in a bad mood trying to work on Abe's new slogan. She wants to start thinking like a DiMera so Jack suggests she sleep in a coffin and hang upside down in the basement. Jenn's not in the mood for jokes, but Jack reminds her she's the opposite of a DiMera. They comment on Abby going to therapy and Jack confesses he's making some headway with his own. They consider what would have happened if Jack had a GPS on his phone like Chad did when he was held captive. Jenn doesn't want to dwell. Jack assures her he has fundamentally changed and decides to take Jenn out to eat.
At the square, Mel and Daniel discuss his medical test to determine if he has MG. Her results were fine so she assumes his will be. They talk about her kidnapping ordeal and Mel flashes to kissing Chad and assures Daniel she's fine, physically. She has been doing a lot of thinking and remembers being hurtful in the past. Daniel assures her those days are over but she's not sure. She lets Daniel know she applied for a second job at the day spa to do cosmetic procedures. She wants to move out on her own but worries about Daniel. He assures her he doesn't want to live with his spinster daughter waiting on him for the rest of his life. They discuss Jenn and the break-up and Mel leaves. Jack and Jenn walk up. It's awkward so Daniel offers his table. Jack tells Daniel what a stand-up guy he is but doubts Jenn will choose him. Daniel assumes Jack wasn't told yet and takes off. Jack jumps around with glee until Jenn says Daniel dumped her and she still loves him. She reminds Jack they had serious problems before Afghanistan and their love alone isn't enough to make a marriage work. She can't face seeing it fail once more.
Chad takes Abby to Intensity for self-defense classes. They spot Gabi and are surprised she's working there as a receptionist. Gabi tells them she signed up for the defense class. Gabi pats Chad on the back for being the hero. Abby bumps into Austin nearby and they laugh. She gazes at him as Gabi watches. Abby confides she had nightmares about the kidnapping. Quinn arrives and Austin talks to him about self-defense and takes Abby and Austin on a tour. Chad thinks they should invite Melanie to the self-defense class. They discuss Will and decide something is eating away at him. They agree it's for the best they broke up. Chad doubts she'll have trouble finding someone else. Gabi blushes. "All the good ones are taken." Quinn returns with Abby and Austin and Abby declares she wants to take Austin's class at SU. She frowns when Austin admits he wants Carrie to come in to guest lecture. Gabi strolls up and admits she finds Austin handsome. Abby acts nonchalant. Mel turns up for her interview and she and Chad talk about having nightmares about their time held. Privately, Mel apologizes for "that other thing" just as Abby overhears. Mel says she was apologizing for freaking out. Chad thinks they should all move on. Mel tells them about her interview before they go, and she goes off with Quinn and returns later after Quinn gives her the job. Outside, Chad goes off to get food for him and Abby, while she rubs Austin's toque and flashes to him. Melanie arrives and Abby congratulates her on getting the job and then worries Mel will tell Chad about the guy she's crushing on. Mel promises she'd never do that. Chad returns and congratulates Mel on her job. She runs off stating three is a crowd.
Daniel arrives at the pub for a drink and is surprised to see Kayla. She gives him enough beer to numb things and Austin comes in. The guys meet and Austin and Daniel bond over talk about baseball. Daniel offers Austin to his second season ticket for baseball, and then Austin bumps into Jack on the way out. Kayla greets Jack coolly and Daniel offers Jack a beer and baseball discussion. Jack accepts and thanks Daniel once again for talking him down the other day. Jack admits Jenn hasn't made the decision to be with him. Austin returns and tries to cheer the guys up. Kayla notices that Daniel's handwriting is horrid, after he shakily signs his bill.
Jenn arrives home but her mind isn't on her work.

"So that's been that son-of-a-bitch DiMera's plan all along," John gripes.
Nicole asks EJ pointedly, "Are you responsible for embezzling all that money?"

I think Jack will always be a kid at heart, but there are some days when you just wish Peter Jack Pan would grow up!! However, he is likable... and perhaps he's goofy on the outside at present b'cos he's covering-up the deep seeded horrors that he endured in Afghanistan.
