Stefano has a proposition for John, Hope comes up with an idea to get Stefano to exonerate John, and Brady and Madison spend the day together.

Brady wakes up to an empty bed and calls for Madison at the hotel. She turns up with breakfast and he admits he thought she took off. She thought he was about to leave. They realize neither was interested in going anywhere but Madison did have a moment where she wanted to avoid the morning after. "You know, mascara running down my face..." She blushes and says the night was perfect. They have sex and he suggests she delegate her work to Sami and take the day off.

At the pub, Hope obsesses to Bo over the IOU note from Stefano found in the ornament.

At the loft, Carrie yells at an officer at SPD on the phone when she can't get in touch with John. Rafe assumes he's in the yard getting exercise. He's impressed at her prowess. They agree they're a good team and Rafe brings up wanting to renew his vows at the square. Carrie thinks Sami's lucky. He's a romantic. Hope and Bo arrive and learn the time stamp has been falsified in the photo of John. They assume it's Stefano's doing. Hope fills Carrie and Rafe in on the IOU. They hope Stefano will allow them to collect on it in Alice's name. Stefano could exonerate John. They debate whether or not it'll work. Rafe asks if they're ready to let the DiMera's walk again. All Carrie is interested in doing is clearing John's name.

Marlena and John are pulled into a meeting in a room at the jail. They're surprised to see Stefano and EJ. John thinks Stefano should take a hike and take his errand boy with him. EJ says Basic Black could go under because of the scandal and Stefano wants to buy the company. If John sells, EJ will drop the civil suit. John knows this generous offer is a cover up. It'll also buy EJ the mayoral seat. John would rather see them in hell. If John accepts, he loses his company and still goes to jail. If he refuses, EJ makes it look like he doesn't want to help the people of Salem. John doesn't negotiate with terrorists and tells Stefano to shove his offer. EJ and Stefano assume when the people learn John refuses to sell, they'll lash out. John freaks out and Marlena suggests they pay back the money to the 'little people' who they stole from and leave them alone. John just realizes Stefano had an insider planted at BB. EJ denies it and thinks John's cracking under the pressure. They leave, and Marlena reassures John he did the right thing.

Brady and Madison wander the square, putting up Christmas bulbs on the tree, holding hands and kissing. They have their photo taken with Santa and head back to the hotel with a Christmas tree.

Back at the hotel, Madison tells Brady she hasn't had a tree since she was a child. Brady's disturbed and sorry to hear. Madison felt bad for her siblings. Brady'd like to go all out this year and make Christmas special for her. Brady remembers horrible Christmases with Kristen but was thankful their relationship didn't last. He talks about staying in school for the holidays and how it hurt his sister Belle. This year it'll be a strange Christmas. They light up the tree, and fawn over their handiwork. Madison finds a present that Brady refuses to let her open until Christmas. Instead, he shoves her on the bed and kisses her.
