Taylor helps Brady, EJ's henchmen capture Rafe, and Gabi encourages Chad to embrace his family.
Taylor arrives at Chez Rouge, much to Maggie's delight. She's sorry for Mickey's death and tells her she's in town to see Nicole but will be in Salem a while. Taylor's looking for work so Maggie goes off to get her an application. Taylor thinks she sees EJ and fantasizes that he can't get her out of his mind. She snaps out of it and goes up to the guy but realizes the man's not EJ. She’s mortified. Later, Maggie wonders why Taylor, who has an MBA and spent the summer of '09 with orphans, doesn't take a job with Titan.
At the Kiriakis mansion, Victor tells Brady Henderson packed up Brady's stuff and sent them to the dump. He tells him to get out. Brady reminds Victor he owns the house but Victor calls it temporary. He asks if he's too ruthless to have a twinge of guilt over what he's done. Brady scoffs and Victor tells the story of how he built the company. Brady should have had to learn what hard labor was. Brady doesn't take anything for granted. He learned that nice guys finish last. That's Victor's creed and it's his now too. He has reinvented himself and likes himself. Victor calls it a testament to his idiocy. They argue some more about Victor going soft because of Maggie and Brady tells him to keep the house.
Back at Chez Rouge, Taylor says she refused a job at Titan because Titan is corrupt and Victor's heart's as black as night. Brady wanders in for booze and Maggie purses her lips. Brady plays with the DiMera wedding arrangements and says he'll help ensure Nicole and EJ’s wedding goes off without a hitch. She can see he's been with Victor. Brady drones on about their argument and tells her if she's lucky, she'll never know Victor the way he does. He runs off.
Will and Gabi have cake and coffee at Java and discuss how Rafe has changed. Chad shows up. They hear somebody call him DiMera. Chad goes to them and they question the use of his name. He says it helped him get hired from Cheatin' Heart but doesn't want to be a part of the family. They discuss how EJ’s changed and that he gave Sami custody of the kids. Chad doesn’t think that proves much. They’re her kids! Chad’s sure EJ dislocated his shoulder trying to pat himself on the back for that one. Gabi talks about coming from a big family and how wonderful it all was. She thinks Chad should give his family a chance. Chad pulls out the photo of Allie and shows Will.
Nicole stares at her ring as EJ returns from putting Johnny to bed. He says Johnny's fast asleep. She muses that getting a new eye is scary even when you're not four years old. They make out and EJ gets a text saying Marco doesn't have Rafe. EJ excuses himself and calls RoboRafe, who ignores the call. EJ leaves a message that Rafe's on the way over and returns to Nicole. He has to step out. He goes and Johnny runs downstairs and says he was waiting for his dad. Nicole's surprised he's awake and gets Nigel, his Laughing Penguin and wonders why EJ lied to her.
RoboRafe and Sami go at it on the floor of their loft. Sami keeps wanting to go to the bedroom. Rafe stumbles to the door and sees the display inside through the speakeasy. Sami stops RoboRafe from kissing her but when he asks if something's wrong, she denies it. She notices the speakeasy is open and rushes to close it. RoboRafe ignores a call from EJ and sees somebody trying to get in. EJ's minion has just tasered Rafe and takes him on the elevator as the impostor watches. He returns to Sami and resumes his seduction. Later, Allie arrives home and Sami takes her to bed. RoboRafe checks in with EJ, who orders him to get the hell over there. Sami returns and reminds him of his FBI days and how he was stabbed trying to protect them. She finds the scar and reminisces. He feigns remembering and she wishes he still had the key. He gets a call and says he has to check in at work. He leaves and Allie gets up, insisting she heard a noise. Sami’s neighbor Gladys arrives, saying she saw Sami’s husband being dragged away and thought he was hurt. Sami’s baffled.
Down in the dungeon, EJ's minion tells him Rafe's got a fever and he's not sure how long he's going to last. Later, RoboRafe shows up and EJ abuses him and calls him a simple little moron. EJ says he’ll take care of Allie. They leave as Rafe starts coughing up blood. Upstairs, Nicole reads to Johnny. EJ watches and apologizes, thanking her for not asking questions. She’s happy to be there no matter what and has no demands. They kiss.
Maggie goes to see Victor, saying Brady feels terrible. She tells him money is the least important thing to fight about. It’s all about family. Victor believes this too. She’s speaking as a sponsor and friend. She needs Victor’s help. She leaves.
Taylor finds Brady drunk and passed out on the pier. She takes him home but he denies doesn't live there. Victor intercepts them saying he does too. Later, Victor has left and Taylor covers Brady with a shawl. He asks why she helped him and she stares at her scarf and thinks about EJ. She’s paying it forward.
Sam the bartender gives Maggie sparkling water and fills up one glass for Mickey. He wishes them a happy anniversary. Victor shows up and sees Maggie clinking glasses, so he walks out quietly, unseen.
