Reunited. (Soaps.com)
These are the "Days" of my week for February 1-5:

Groundhog Day may have been on Tuesday, but on DOOL, it stuck around for the whole week. With the exception of having interest in the wedding storyline, nothing else is really going on in Salem. Still weary of the Carly show this week, though I prefer it to the alternative - the Sami show. My big questions of the week: Why are Melanie and Carly suddenly BFFs? And why suddenly would Philly allow Vivian and Kate to walk him down the aisle? He has no use for either of them and there has been no real reconciliation. As usual, it feels as though I’ve missed a few weeks of the show, when in fact I’ve been here watching daily. The big news this week is that Adrienne’s returning to Salem. We hope it’s not to jump right into a triangle between Justin and Hope. Let’s get into the column and discuss the week while dispensing some much needed advice to our dear characters.

Running with scissors:

Ciara’s absolutely adorable, but like a few others on the show, I’d love to see her hone her craft. It’s hard to keep in the moment and suspend disbelief as it is, with the direction of the show - which could use work - if we have to watch characters stare vacantly at the screen and never use their facial muscles.

Bope:

As usual, the theme for these two bumbling fools this week was ‘he did this’ and ‘she said that’. They’ve been married ages and yet they still haven’t learned how to communicate.

Carly almost plotzed when Bo suggested she move back in to his bed. I mean, house. He moved her in so he could protect her because you know, this thing with Vivian is getting so ridiculously out of control. Ridiculous. Yeah. Crazy. Out of hand. It’s spinning wildly... Bo’s listening to the wrong head, because the way I see it, nothing has changed. Carly’s not in any less or more danger than she was when she arrived. Why did he let her move out last time if only to move her back in? There’s no reason why Carly needs to live with Bo except that she’ll keep the other side of the bed warm for him. It’s not as though the shrew will be doing that anytime soon.

Advice: Caroline and I think Bo should learn to consider other people’s feelings. Hope needs to stop jumping to conclusions and direct her energy toward herself instead of on Barly. Gus is cute and seemingly single and I’m sure Patrick Lockhart could use a conjugal visit by now.

Blah blah blah:
Hope should stop bringing up the Zach death card with Bo, during arguments. She couldn’t understand why Bo would invite a murderer to live there after all they've been through and after what they went through with Zach? What is she on about? I don't even understand where she's coming from, because one has nothing to do with the other. He is selfish and moving Carly in to get some arse. Period. And while I don’t think Carly will harm Ciara, I still don’t get how Carly has gotten away with murder and how she’s a practicing physician still. She’s so annoying, getting into Chloe’s infertility issues like that. If I were Chloe, and thank goodness I’m not, I’d have told Carly to mind her own damned business about my marriage and look after her own problems. Instead, Chloe said she is over those pesky little infertility issues and then promptly asked Father Matt for a miracle. Looks like she got one because she suddenly checked her calendar and realized that she missed a period and is pregnant! I wouldn't bother painting the nursery.

On to Kate and Vivi, other would-be murderesses. It’s been interesting to have Kate saving her daughter-in-law-to-be from Vivi, instead of trying to off her. It’s been fun to see Vivian switching gears all week trying to be true to herself and to Lawrence’s memory. The poison tip on the pearl wedding comb was a nice touch, and the back alley meetings made me snicker a bit.

Is Kate going to Pirate Island, too? (Soaps.com)
I’ve no advice for Kate or Vivi. It’s more fun to watch them screw up.

EJ made plans to take Johnny and Syd to Pirate Island. Then he asked Sami to go with him. Is this trip going to go anywhere like the Olympics trip or the ski trip or should we forget he ever said anything?

Advice: Maybe EJ needs to get a life. Focus on more productive things instead of trying and failing to keep Safe apart. He fired Anna, not that I blame him. After that chit chat with Samanther, I was sure she’d be dying to hand Syd over to mummy again. EJ got rid of her and told her his guard would do a better job. Why not let Stefano in on this? It’s getting to be a real drag that EJ’s got nobody except for ditsy Anna to bounce schemes off of. I can’t believe the writers went there again with evicting Stefano from his home. Didn’t this happen a few months ago? It’s such a complete bore. Since he has returned to the show, he has been written a wussy, spelled with a capital P. I don’t want to see him crying all the time like a broken man, I don’t want to see him dishing on Kate’s new wedding wardrobe, I want to see him using his powerful connections and deplorable ways to get what he wants. Where’s that secret room?

Maybe there’s room for Stephanie in it. And maybe Nathan, too. After this wedding goes off, what’s the point of these two? Give them something else to do aside from brooding for somebody they can't have! How sad is it that the writers are creating this (sex) ski trip for Nathan and Stephanie, if only to further Nathan’s storyline with Melanie and Philip, instead of simply putting them together and writing something new. I hope this trip happens. They’ve booked it for what seems days and it’s bad enough we won’t be seeing the teens go on the Vancouver trip. I remember the good old days when they used to take trips up to Green Mountain Lodge and get up to no good!

Advice: Maybe Stephanie should consider reading that book, and watching the movie, "He’s just not that into you."

I’m not quite sure why DA Woodsy advised Chad not to see Mia anymore, but then I’m not an overprotective father on a soap, so sometimes these things just can’t be answered. Just like the sudden change from old Will to nu-Will. Is he a better actor? Is he better at acting a certain way? Can’t be answered. Not much to say about him other than he seems to fit in. I’m enjoying Mia’s temperamental behaviour and her scheming and found Kinsey amusing this week. While all the good kids were upset to learn DA Woodsy put the kibosh to their Vancouver trip, Kinsey was especially crushed. I told everyone I hate that I was going!

Considering nothing really happened, I sure had a lot to say. I’ll leave you to your weekend with one last thought. The most popular word in Salem this week was Armageddon. After listening to Rafe and Samanther duke it out in the DiMera great room and wiping the pouring blood from my ears, Anna told EJ it sounded like Armageddon in the great room. When Philly looked at the seating chart for the wedding this week, he said, "If you’re going to use this seating, the wedding will be Armageddon."

Armageddon.

Have a great weekend!

Hey Chrissi! You had alot to say about a less-than-stellar week and I agree with ya! You cracked me up talking about Bope! No one could've said that better! Great blog!

As for carly getting away with murder and still being a physcian, I guess you can thank Vivian for that since somebody else confessed to the crime and Carly was cleared. So actually Hope she is not a murderer, would like to see you play that card at a custody hearing. Yeah Judge she was accused, but she was cleared, someone else has confessed. Also Carly is a problem but Viv and Vic are okay? and living in the house that Stephanie was kidnapped from 8 months ago is fine too?? Sorry Hope is become unstable.

Oh Chrissy, I cannot believe how much we agree on our view of the show sometimes.

If this is supposed to be February Sweeps, I know at least one other soap that has them beat all to heck. I find myself fighting to stay awake during days, but glued to my chair in anticipation of every scene on the other one. I watch it because it reminds me of the way Days USED to be.

Not that I wouldn't rather watch Days anytime, but I sure would like to see this show come to life again.

I just can't be sure about anything that's happening. I don't want to see Melanie marry Philip, but I see no indications that Philip doesn't love her lately, and no clues that he might mistreat her. Maybe I just would like to see Philip be happy, but I haven't really seen him miserable since he wanted Belle and couldn't have her.

Melanie seems to really love him, but she is just so young. I feel like she is throwing her life away. I don't think Nathan deserves her either. I think it is just not time for her to get married yet. That's what I think, and I don't care how either Philip or Nathan feels about it. Neither of them really romanced her the way she should have been romanced.

So what I am hoping about the wedding is that it doesn't really happen at all and turns out to be just some big dream that Melanie was having while she was unconscious or something. That would be kind of cool if they put a "Wizard of Oz" twist on it. Let's see..Carly's the good witch, Vivian is the bad witch, Kate is Aunt Nelly or whoever, Nathan is the Tin Man, Philip is the scarecrow, Brady is the Lion, and Victor is the Wizard! That works. LOL

I'm tired of EJ storming around like he has suffered some great wrong when nobody in reality really did anything to him. Whatever their intentions were, it never happened..thanks to Nicole. He's just mad because he dumped Sami for Nicole and his father while she was fighting for her life; and Sami moved on and fell madly in love with somebody else while he was "living the good life."

Well, gee. He's in charge now, and he's doing worse things than anyone ever intended doing to him. He's such an arse, and he better get that shaking hand checked. Sometimes that a symptom of a serious illness.

The Bo and Hope story is pretty much the same. Nobody really understands why they were mad at each other or why they split up in the first place, so it's hard to get behind whether to root for their reconciliation or not. I'm not even sure I should be mad at Bo for sleeping with Carly. I know I don't want Hope to sleep with Justin, especially now that Adrienne is coming back.

How they all gonna live in the same town together and look each other in the eye when everybody has slept with everybody else?

The bed hopping stories need to stop. That's why nobody in town knows who their real parents are. Too many women being passed from bed to bed.

No wonder Sami feels so hopeless right now. They keep writing so that the bad guys get away with everything, while the good guys just get to stand around with their fingers in their mouths and do nothing except get naked occassionally.

I would have to see more than 2 minutes a week of NuWill before I decide if he's any good or not. Go figure!

The Sydney scenes were the best ones this week, and I liked seeing more interaction between Brady and Sami. Did Brady seem surprised that Sami actually loves him like a brother and that she thought of him as one of her siblings while they were growing up?

Thanks. Ugh yeah I hate that somebody else confessed to the crime. I think it was too easily written in and a pathetic attempt.

I don't think Hope's unstable.

Sweeps... I don't know. It's not a good sweeps. I do think that Mel is too young to marry, and I won't spoil what's to come. I do think Brady and Sami are inching toward a good relationship- at least I hope. They're all each other has, really, in Salem.

EJ's hysterical. He needs to get over it all. The writers need to make all of this right and move on to better, more interesting storylines.

Forgive me if this question has been previously addressed, but ever since the episode where Carly crashes Micky Horton's wake, and Melanie first calls Carly a murderess, when was it when someone told Melanie that Carly killed Lawrence? I try to watch DOOL every day, and I cannot for the life of me remember who or when Melanie was told about Carly killing Lawrence. Please help me, as this question has been bugging me for weeks.
