    Sami being Sami. (Soaps.com)
These are the “Days” of my week from June 29 – July 3:

This was a three day week, due to Wimbledon finals, which air Thursday and Friday, so my blog is up earlier than the norm. Strangely, I’ve still a lot to say! Maybe after you read you’ll have a lot to say, too.

    Nicole’s guilt:
This week, Nicole brought Johnny to see Sami, out of guilt. The kid can talk, so isn’t Nic concerned that he’ll mention seeing his mummy when he’s home with his dad? EJ could have started to wonder what was up when Nicole reminded Johnny to keep their secret! This doesn’t bode well for Nicole and we won’t see this storyline explode until closer to December. After all, this is the summer of the younger crowd! It’ll be that much worse for Sami when she learns Nicole wasn’t on her side at all but letting her see Johnny out of guilt for the whole baby switch and Grace’s death.

    Mel and Philly:
Melanie is still learning how to keep her yap shut tight. She let on that she was concerned about Stephanie, and when Philip asked what she was concerned about, she clammed up. I don’t think this was done on purpose. I think Melanie is getting used to being a good girl, but she has to learn she won’t make any friends if she keeps blabbing that way. She was really sweet to play matchmaker with Bradianna this week, which I found adorable. Them? Not so adorable. I’ll explain more about that in a bit, after we chat about Philly more. Philip met Daniel, after he spoke with Mel about Stephanie, and asked the doctor why Stephanie was taking the prescription drugs. How presumptuous. Not only is this up to Stephanie to tell him but Daniel’s her doctor and can’t discuss this with Phil. Daniel’s not even the original doctor who prescribed them. Boy, Philly’s got a lot to learn about women. Good luck. As I eluded in the past blogs, Steph dumped Philip and it’s a good thing, all around. Don’t you agree that Melanie – I’ve said this before, I know- makes a better woman for Philly, considering they feel the same about so many things? Sure, Nathan is cute and more her age, but I can’t help but hold out for a Mellip – Phelanie pairing. It didn’t work out last time but things have changed and it’s a possibility.

    Bradianna:
I do want to see them date, and I do like Mel’s matchmaking but I’m really, really tired of the bumping into each other. This week, they bumped into each other …. A G A I N. This is no longer cute. It was cute once, maybe twice but now it’s annoying and redundant. I’d like us to move on from the boy meets girl, boy bumps into girl, girl gets mad, their hands touch while they pick up the contents of her handbag and fall deeply in love while they think they hate each other Hallmark format.

We've got to stop bumping into each other like this.
    Wicked Witch:
Who? Kate, of course. She is even more unstable. It was Gay Pride Week last week here in Toronto and their motto was ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’. I believe they got it from the fact that they’re aiding in the search for a cure for HIV/AIDS and won’t stop until they find one. Their motto was fantastic and I’m going to borrow it for Kate. Her new motto, ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop’ (trying to kill Chloe) still isn’t working for me. Kate needs a life, needs a sexy young man at her side (think pool boy) and to be wheeling and dealing. That’s how I see Kate. It was fun to see her when she and EJ worked and played together. Very sexy. Why can’t they do that again? He could cheat on Nicole with Kate. It’d be fun, no? Not that I’m promoting cheating, but we all know Ejole aren’t going to be together forever. I’m not sure it would work out, but anything’s better than watching Kate inject food with poison.

    Sami and Safe:
Were you surprised that Sami went to Philly for help in taking down EJ? Do these two know each other? It’s cool to see them in scenes together, and I can’t recall them even being in the same room together much less talk! Anyway… Lots of arguing this week over Rafe’s past between Sami and Rafe, after Sami found Rafe at Emily Hudson’s gravesite and he refused to tell her who Emily is. On one hand, he was caught in the act, and could have just spilled the story to her there. Painful or not, when faced with the woman you profess to L O V E, you should be able to trust them and tell them anything. But. Big but. This is a soap opera – thank goodness this is not reality - so he decided to keep his dirty little secret! His discomfort means it must be a very painful subject. Sami probably never should have asked Arianna about Emily, but considering Sami saw Rafe at the grave, and we all know Sami, we know she's not going to rest until she finds out the truth. Instead of waiting for him to spill on his own, she asked around. She can’t help herself, really, but it takes years to get to know somebody and since I don’t think that we need to disclose every little thing in our history or thoughts right away, I grudgingly think Rafe probably does have a right to privacy. If Sami had waited, he may have came clean on his own. Instead, she reacted as she always does - immaturely- and started her own sleuthing. Perhaps if she had a J O B to keep her occupied, she wouldn’t feel the need to act on those pesky impulses of yesteryear. This set her back a few Sami years and made us see how ignorant that she is. She has not learned anything out of her past mistakes. I admit to finding this odd, considering her mother is a Psychiatrist and always open to discussion. This is where Rafe comes in and he’s good for her. I was thankful to Rafe for telling Sami that just because couples fight, doesn’t automatically mean they’re going to break up. Will she listen to him? Doubtful. She could lose him if she doesn’t stop being…well… Sami!

Safe sex. Let’s hope it was! In her townhouse, Safe argued then professed their love for each other and then tore into each other for some hot make-up sex – but… what happened afterwards? Where was the afterglow? There was none. She looked so forlorn after and when they got out of bed and wandered about picking up their clothes, she looked extremely distant and sad. It reminded me of how she looked after she and EJ had sex when they created Grace. Er. Sydney. This struck me as very strange.

    EJ:
EJ and Stefano had a pow wow with Judge Fitzpatrick about the case with Sami being an ‘unfit mother’. The judge is a fair one, so I’m not sure EJ’s attempts at bribery will jive with her. In fact, I’m thinking this whole court case will blow away and EJ will clue in that he’s making a mistake. From his standpoint, what Sami did was wrong, but does that make her a bad mother concerning Johnny? Perhaps he thinks she’ll steal Johnny from him. Who knows?

    Bope:
Bo had another vision of Zack about Ciara losing her bear. This lead Bo to believe that if Ciara loses the bear something will happen to her. Since Carly Manning’s coming to the show, people have wondered if this has anything to do with her. She won’t be seen until October and at the rate this storyline is progressing, that’s a possibility.

Who is this mysterious person circling Hope’s photo in the paper? Do they have anything to do with the Ciara storyline? Do you have any thoughts?

Afterthought: Poor Roman… Recurring more than ever, suddenly poor Roman is a babysitter, babysitting for Allie, and we rarely see him. I miss him. I miss Jarlena this week, too. *mopes*

Enough moping! The weekend is just around the corner and I don't know about you, but I plan to make the most of it. Enjoy!

    Nicole's Guilt:

I can understand Nicole being affected by Grace's death, as she was the one who delivered her; but I'm not so sure she really feels guilty about the baby switch. She still thinks Sydney belongs to her. And it seemed to me that Nicole took Johnny to see Sami more out of defiance of Stephano than anything. Still, it was nice to see her do something nice for Sami instead of taunting her. Is it really possible that these 2 could become friends?

    Mel and Philly:

Strange as it sounds, I think Melanie has "outgrown" Philip. Maggie's parental influence and Brady's friendship have put her in touch with her better side. She deserves real love and affection instead of a life where she plays men and lets them use her.

Philip, on the other hand, is under the parental influence of people like Victor and Kate. Brady is around, but he seems to see Brady more as a rival than an advisor or role model. Now that his and Victor's "shady deals" have scared Stephanie away; I'm not sure there is any hope for him.

I don't think Brady belongs in the Kiriakis business either. I am afraid they will corrupt him. Of course, he is just another example of how badly John and Marlena are needed back on the show. John needs to come back to set Brady up in his own family business; and Marlena needs to come back just to be there for Sami for a change.

After all, John once had his own battle with drugs; and I remember a very tender moment between John and Sami where he promised her that he would never let EJ take Johnny away from her.

They would so fit in to the story right now, at least for a few scenes or on recurring appearances. So too would Steve and Kayla.

I will never give up hope....

    Bradianna:

I adore the Brady character, but I am not so sure about Arianna. They look cute together; but her asking Brady to convince Sami to stop seeing Rafe was just weird. Brady thought so too. Seems like she is almost as judgmental as Bo and Hope.

    Sami and Rafe:

I am also baffled by the thought that Sami does not seem to learn from her mistakes. I put a thread about it in the message boards titled "what is missing" and got all kinds of input from other members. I guess I want Sami to be Sami too, but I don't want her painted as ignorant..just strong and spirited.

The sex scene between Sami and Rafe was different this time because of the depth of the passion. Both parties were reeling from all kinds of emotions when it happened. Grief, anger, pain, fear, etc. I think both parties were surprised at how badly they needed each other, the level of connection; and the release. They really do love each other. But, they have issues to resolve.

Yes, I think Rafe has a right to a little privacy; but the relationship is going to be a little one-sided if he doesn't share something about himself with Sami. Whatever it is, it would be better if he tells her about it himself rather than letting her find out some other way.

Philip was once married to Sami's sister, Belle. Sami was also once married to Philip's brother; Lucas. Philip is an uncle to Will and Ali. Seems like Sami has always had a soft, protective spot for Philip. I think they share some personality traits. So, yes. I think they know and understand each other a lot better than anyone realizes. Also, it seems like Philip's limp suddenly reappeared this week. So, Sami could still feel a little responsibility for him if the writers have decided the Stan story is still part of their history. I guess.

    EJ:

From what I have seen of Judge Fitzpatrick, she has never been one to give in to the DiMera bribery or intimidations. My question is...Will she be different now that it is Stephano she is dealing with rather than EJ or John? It would be a lot of fun if she ruled against the DiMeras and then turned up dead. That is the Stephano way. LOL

I don't mean to give away ***spoilers***but they are posted. The spoilers say that EJ does reconsider the custody suit, but when he goes to talk to Sami about it, he finds out that Rafe is moving in..and he gets furious all over again. If that guy doesn't do something about his blood pressure, he is going to have a heart attack.

All of the characters are a little bit different now, so it's a lot harder to follow the story lines or make predictions about them like I used to. You know, "that was then, and this is now." I used to know these people, but now I don't. I think they have all become a "work in progress"...just like Melanie.

    To Christine,

Sami and Philip--Of course they knew eachother...they were sister/brother in law when Belle was married to Philip..althought Philip was being played by Kyle Brandt...also...Sami turned into Stan and he/she went together with Philip so of course they know each other...:) and I agree with your posts...

I find it strange that the writers expect us to buy that Rafe is comfortable enough with Sami to ask her if he can ADOPT HER DAUGHTER, but he's not willing to tell Sami why he was crying at another woman's grave. It just seems they are past this whole "I have my own private life" stage. They are starting to make my head hurt!

I wouldn’t trust Nicole any farther then I could throw her; she’s not feeling sorry for Sami or Johnny, she wants Rafe to stop digging into her business. EJ told Sami in the hospital what a good mother she was, now she is an unfit mother, tomorrow he will want Sami back into his life. Don't forget a judge in your pocket for the Dimera's, that’s Days for you...

The more I see Mel the more I like her, I love her expressions. Stephanie and Philip do nothing for me; a waste of time is my comment. I do hope Steph helps Sami with the custody battle...

I agree Brady & Arianna bumping into one another is getting annoying. I don’t trust Arianna; she is so against Rafe telling Sami about the secret, she makes it sound like it’s more about her. She doesn’t like Sami, but makes no effort to get to know her...

Kate just get on your broomstick and ride off where people on broomsticks go. Chloe make in your mind Lucas or Daniel, reminds me of last year with Sami, one day she wanted Lucas, the next day EJ. Another trait of Days...

Sami did look forlorn, extremely distant and sad after making love, Rafe didn’t look to happy either, when he told Sami he would never hurt her and he loved her, he looked mad maybe his conscience is getting to him...

Bo’s visions are a bigger waste of time. I think the guy who circled Hope’s picture will kidnap Ciera…

I am so tired of Brady and Arianna "bumping" into each other...maybe next time they bump into each other, Arianna will fall off the pier and disappear into the river...just sayin

*That is exactly what I said on the MB this week. She didn't look satisfied, almost sad, when she and Ej were done and that is exactly what I saw after Safe was done..she did look like she enjoyed it more (from what we saw) with Rafe though.

I loved the Sami/Nicole scene this week. Very touching even though it is guilt that is driving Nicole and not "Ej being wrong"

Brandy and Arianna...don't care...boring and that's too bad because I am so impressed with EM as Brady. He needs a hot woman to spice things up with and not Ari.

I am looking forward to the BOPE storyline and I really hope it does not involve a love triangle...if it does, I will really consider hanging it up because it has so been done and if the writers go this way, that really leaves me to believe that they are out of ideas.

    My comments are simple
    1. Where is Josh Taylor? He needs a story line and a very good good woman!! I miss Josh Taylor!!!!!!!

    2. I hope EJ and Nicole stay together even once he finds out what she did.

    3. I like Rafe and Sami I really hope they stay together.

    4. I hope Kate is found out soon. What she is doing is horrible. I hope Chole does not die.

    5. Don't know where the Bo and Hope is going but I hope their little girl is alright. I hate to see them suffer again.

I hope steph and Philip stay apart I never liked them. I hope Nathan and Mel get together.

As for Ari and Brady the jury is still out.
    ok I am done
Over all very good job writers.
