Days Of Our Lives Poll: Character Returns.

    Friday, September 07 2012

    Nick's return. (Soaps.com)
    Hot or not?

Fans are debating in our forums on whether or not Nick Fallon's return to "DOOL" has been something worth watching or if it has fallen flat. The character has been gone four years, due to being incarcerated for stalking and murder. Four measly years for murder is something to scoff at but four years missing from a soap can be the kiss of death for a character. Do you think there's a limit to how long a character can be gone before the show should forget about them? Vote!

I don't believe this It depends on how popular the character is they brought back all popular characters and they did nothing for the show and some have been fired already! You can't live in the past everything has to move forward with new characters, story lines etc.

    BRILLIANT POST DOOL1965

I feel the same way that we can't live in the past and if we bring back characters there has to be a reason other than they were popular at one time. sometimes that whatever they had can't be rekindled or the writers don't have the knack of how to write for them and it is just sad that the money spent and time wasted could have been spent on who is on the canvass now. Even when writers change in midstride they need to build up to the changes and not just drop things and go out in left field so that we all feel like WTF and the viewers are getting whiplash. I want to know if writers have no imagination left in them that couples have to get involved in triangles. There is enough angst on the show for couples that they don't need interlopers.

I am taking a wait and see on Eric Brady and Kristen DiMera. I will be a newbie to those characters. I watched a bit of those videos of Kristen and I get campy but some of it was just too out there and I doubt in this day and age they will use Eileen for the hookey possession baloney.

I think a lot depends on the story line that writers give them. So far this new crop of story writers isn't cutting it. I like having Marlena and John back but they gave them a stupid s/l. The same with Celeste, it was good to have her back but her s/l was silly and we didn't get a chance to get used to her when now she is gone. So I think the writers need to do a better job then what they have so far.

I'm not trying to be confrontational, but I disagree with DOOL1965's point of view.

Some/many characters shouldn't be brought back - that's true. Others would make the ratings soar.

One glaring example is Tony DiMera. He hasn't been on the show in forever. But if he were to come back, I (and many others) would do the happy Snoopy dance.
