    Santo/EJ are identical. (Soaps.com)
Deconstructing "DOOL" for the week of April 30 – May 4 :

We’re taking it day by day again this week for a change of pace. Let’s dive right in.

Kate and Sami’s screaming match on Monday’s episode entitled Gobbledygook was anxiety provoking. These two have been going at it for years and neither has grown enough to walk away from the other or get new material. Both can run multi-million dollar companies but neither can come up with better insults other than ‘bitch’ or ‘slut’. Lucas actually thought he could have a drama-free day with Sami, and he believed her when she said she’d try not to do anything underhanded to MadWorld, thus making him the dumbest man in Salem. They’re unfortunately all varying degrees of stupid. Marlena surprised me with her self-defense moves as John and Roman looked on like big dopes while Stefano’s operative ran away... which proves that a Salem Police Officer's gun is as useless as the Brady holding it. I’d rather take my chances outside the safe house. I was distracted by Agent Spencer’s attire (three piece suit?) and the horribly tacky décor that everyone kept complimenting.

Why have I not noticed before that Spencer’s accent sounds exactly like Tony Curtis’ accent from his ‘Junior’ disguise in the movie "Some Like It Hot?" Suddenly Spencer seems more interesting.

Tuesday's episode titled, Boom marked the first half-hour at the safe house and already the inmates were getting restless. I guess the men believed the hype about how much jolly good fun a safe house can be. Bo complained that he hasn’t had time to spend alone with Hope - that’s code for sex - yet instead of complaining he could have had an afternoon delight in one of the bedrooms. John whined about his own self-imposed exile and the wives of these whiners tried in vain to get them to stop being so depressing. Rafe again attempted to tell Carrie the truth but that didn’t go over well with anyone. Marlena stuck her nose into the argument claiming that because Carrie raised her voice, somehow that meant that everyone and their brother could jump in and give their two cents about what a bad boy Rafe has been. I wish I could have ‘unwatched’ this portion of the episode because at the end, I was begging for Carrie to open the door and cheering on Harmon. Yikes.

Matt was more charitable and said, "This stupid plot could make anyone stir crazy." He’s right.

Major blooper: Nobody goes into witness protection with their cell phones which could easily be tracked. This is perhaps the worst safe house story...and we just had two safe house stories a few years ago. Enough already!

Carefully rolling up the carpet. (Soaps.com)
Wednesday's episode: Yes Sir, Mr. DiMera was a really good yet very depressing episode that made me feel empty afterward. It was like an era had just ended. All of Stefano’s death threats lately must be foreshadowing his death. EJ’s not a DiMera, which is absolutely asinine since EJ looks exactly like Santo DiMera. Lexi’s dying and Chad doesn’t want any part of continuing on the villainy. "Days Of Our Lives" without the DiMera family? Not something I want to see. I want Tony brought back, hell I’d like Andre to return, Rolf, Anna, anyone to do with that family interests me. I need to see the divide between good and bad. Agree? Disagree? Take my poll: Salem without the DiMera family. EJ thought perhaps Alice was wrong about his paternity but Stefano told EJ it was true. Does this mean he procured a DNA test? He never said so. Doesn’t make sense to me and frankly I don’t find it the least bit believable. Oh and in the midst of it all, with a major lack of romance, (poor Lumi fans!) pals Lucas and Sami got back together and had sex in the space of five minutes. It was all so fast they left most of their clothes on. The scene was forced and it all happened way too fast. And what was with the door being left for Kate to waltz into? Meanwhile, Roman and Kate shared a moment. This I found interesting. Once Kate realizes what a cretin Ian is, she’ll need a friend to lean on.

Thursday's episode... For Better Or Worse. It took a crisis to get Chad back into the DiMera family fold. It was surprisingly refreshing and touching to see EJ keep his paternity a secret from Chad and Lexi. I know Stefano told him to keep quiet about it but it also seemed as though he actually put his ‘siblings’ ahead of himself. Brady and Kate planting seeds of doubt with each other was out of left field though did the job it was supposed to.

Cliffhanger Friday! You're Not Alone had the safe house crew in a frenzy, knowing they’re about to die. Christie Clark did a great job making Carrie annoy me all week with her hysteria. I’m more apt to look for solutions so I’d have been trying to fit up the chimney just so I wouldn’t have to listen to her. It was really nice seeing Shane once more. Incidentally, couldn’t Roman and Shane have cut a hole in the roof and dropped down a ladder so everyone could climb out safely? Maybe they didn't think of that but Carrie and Rafe sure rolled up the carpet carefully, you know, just before it was blown to pieces. Ian drugged Brady and faked an attack on Titan which is all very interesting. Ian's more like Stefano than I thought. Ejami shared a comfy little moment together which is very odd considering everything that has happened but it didn't make it any less intriguing. Monday we'll see things go a little further, which confuses the whole Lumi thing and makes me wonder where the show is going with Sami's love life.

Each Monday, check out the latest of all the blogs in our Soaps Digest Column.

SOF's Matt's DOOL Musings. A taste: "This only hinted at the other big secret which is yet to be revealed – Colleen wasn't actually a Brady. She was actually Arnold Finnegar's (RoboRafe) grandma (he was raised by a bunch of nuns after all)."

Darn I had a I LOVE YOU CHRISSI message all typed up just for the good laugh I had over the comment regarding Roman & Shane cutting a hole and a ladder to get those in the safe house out.

I am with you in regards to no more DiMera's. I hope with everything in me that the new writers fix this, that somehow Alice Horton's letter was taken out and is in all the accounts somewhere in Africa that Doug & Julie are still searching for the answers/the secret. Instead Ian somehow is part of this evil plot to seperate EJ from his father and planted that hoax.

It is tiring to hear Sami and Kate go at each other. Especially since I think Kate is far worse then Sami. She has done some really bad things but yet she acts like the good one of the two. Not sure what to think about her and Lucas. I like them together as friends but not sure about being lovers.
I have wondered for some time if the Horton Square is outside or inside or covered. They have a very nice couch sitting in the square and the cushions are fabric which would be ruined if they got rained on or snow so why is that sitting there? And do they have a permanent basketball stand or was that just some special thing going on.
I have watched this soap since it started in 1965 and at that time this show centered around the Brady’s and the Horton’s. They didn’t have evil Stefano. This show just handled the family lives of these two families and the hospital. It was magic when Bo met Hope and started the romance. And Alice was a big part of that. I loved the Brady’s and the Horton’s and that is what this was for, so I always wonder why people dislike the Brady’s when they are part of the original story. I will say the writers in the last few years have turned their characters into incompetent police officers, which is wrong. I stopped watching this show for a few years when Stefano came on and had Marlene possessed by the devil; it was such a stupid s/l. Then I started watching again until they did another stupid s/l with her being a killer and the victims were sent to this island. It is just my opinion but it seems like the show started taking a downward turn when all the evil stuff Stefano was doing. To me the show has lost that magic it had and I don’t see that coming back.
I have read other blogs that talk about poor EJ. Sorry I can’t muster up any sympathy for him or Stefano. They have done some awful things to the Brady’s and others and I don’t think they can be punished enough. Stefano has to take full responsibility for Lexie being sick. I want him to pay before they bump him off if he is the one that is going to be killed. Can’t wait to see what all Will has done for him!
Sorry, didn't mean to go on so long.
