This week was about speculating and indecision, "Mary's hamster is more entertaining than you two," Stefano complained to Bo and Hope and he’s right. By the end of the week I never again wanted to hear the words ‘safe deposit box’ or see Hope whining or wavering. It was an amazing week otherwise, filled with real drama, shocking confessions, and ironic cheating spouses. Let’s dissect...
Just do it.
Back in the 80s, Nike’s "Just do it." advertising campaign made billions of revenue. I must have shouted those words at the television twenty times this week, begging and pleading with Hope to just open the @%$&* box. Dragging this story on isn’t making me excited for the outcome. It actually annoys me!
Right or wrong?
There’s a lot of debate going on about whether or not EJ should have had the party for Sydney and the answer is an obvious "No." Of course not. EJ gave up his parental rights. I’m not even sure Sami would have allowed it if he asked her to throw Syd a party. He’s lucky she didn’t call the police on him. It seems as though he threw the party partially to get under Samanther’s skin – and not in a good way. While it’s understandable why he shouldn’t have anything to do with the kids, it doesn’t really further the storyline by keeping him completely apart from the kids. Plus, it was so entertaining. Will sure enjoyed himself immensely, after having found yet another way to piss off his mother and use his passive aggressive skills he acquired from being her son. Gotta be proud. Again, some of my favourite scenes of the week are with Welvis.
Um is John still suffering from brain damage from Stefano’s machinations or is he just daft?
John suddenly forgot who he was talking to and his rather strange attempt at bonding was more like a slap in the face to Sami. The only reason I’m referring to it as bonding is because that’s what the spoilers called it. If I had never read the spoilers, I’d have wondered why John was trying to get Sami’s ire up. He came off as condescending and sexist, which blew my mind. I think Sami just wanted some support. She of course overreacted because that’s what she does when she’s backed into a corner and feeling guilty. It was interesting to see Sami tell Madison she doesn’t care if Rafe is disappointed in her or not. More and more I’m left wondering if Safe is over.
Has Abe sunk too low?
I’m a fan of good versus evil and Abe’s shenanigans toward EJ are really diminishing his moral authority for some folks including me. It muddies the waters too much. I don’t want to see Honest Abe pulling a DiMera, just as much as I have no desire to see a DiMera turn into a Brady.

Austin was in the wrong to air his dirty laundry to Abby and Rafe had no business opening up to Carrie, considering she’s Sami’s sister. I’ve seen another trend the past few weeks with Austin and Carrie, Rafe and Sami and Tuesday’s episode didn’t disappoint. In that respect anyway. Carrie and Austin fought and made up by saying, "Are we good?" So in order to what, save time or money, they used the same script for Rafe and Sami? Was it supposed to be intentional? Then, they did it again or at least something similar on Friday’s show with Abe and EJ telling their team that the other doesn’t know what hit them. Is that supposed to be forced irony?
A different kind of indiscretion.
More irony. Cafe celebrated saving a client’s marriage by making out. Sami watched. Whew what a great cliffhanger! Sami’s likely to blow a gasket even though she cheated with EJ, and I’m not sure she’ll be happy that her own sister gave her a taste of her own medicine. Ouch.
"I’d rather you were pregnant."
Fans went snaky over Jennifer saying that to her daughter and suddenly, an otherwise good mother is on everyone’s ‘terrible mother’ list. All mothers get angry and things are said in the heat of the moment. Jennifer’s overprotective nature is heightened likely because of the "loss" of Jack last year. I’m not against modelling but can’t blame Jenn for wanting something better for her daughter than to become a reed-thin model with an excellent chance of having a eating disorder from all the pressure to be a stick. I laughed aloud when Jenn pretty much kicked her out. Alienating Abby’s not going to help. I’m a great advocate of staying in school. Modelling is a short career and doesn’t exactly feed the brain. Just the pocketbook! So actually, Jenn just shot herself in the foot twice, because Abby will be able to pay for her own studies. Oy. Maybe Jenn will come around.
Bradison:
They’re in love, it’s all nickie-nackie all the time, but for how long? I miss bad-boy Brady. I’d rather he was playing her than the other way around.
After-school special.
I’ve read comment threads on Soap Opera Fan and have seen some incoming fan mail from fans who still don’t think Will is gay. Even if they haven’t been reading the spoilers, it’s been written quite obvious. Even in this week with Will asking for Sonny’s coming out details. The scenes reminded me a little of those afternoon specials you’d see in the 90s and as I’ve stated before, I’ve never been a big of platitudes but still, Sonny’s story is quite interesting and I dug how he filled Will in on Tyler’s coming out story being less than perfect, because that’s real life. Sonny’s very fortunate.
That’s one drama filled week. Vote for which drama shocked you most on DOOL.
