Lucas has it out with EJ, a mystery man plants evidence, and the search for Melanie begins.
Daniel paces SPD, frustrated. Hope returns with Melanie's passport. She also notes that Mel's luggage and make-up are in the apartment. They realize someone has kidnapped her. They find an area in which Melanie's last email came from. They'll do a door to door search. Chad flashes to better times with Mel. In the interrogation room, Roman, Rafe and Spencer go over theories in the murder case. Roman thinks EJ held on to the evidence because of his ego and arrogance. A judge calls. They get a warrant and run off.
In the cell, Mel continues to scrape her bracelet against the wall and flashes to every single date she has had with Chad, while just outside, Andrew tells Gabi he likes Melanie's company. She's staying. Gabi tries unsuccessfully to change his mind. He taunts her. What'll Chad say when he finds out what she has done? Gabi's in a panic. She's sure they'll get caught. Gabi grabs his phone and Andrew starts to laugh. If she's thinking of deleting the voice recordings, he has made copies. Chad calls and asks her to meet him at SPD. She's worried it's a trap. Andrew tells her not to jaywalk. "You don't want to get arrested." Andrew puts on his mask and heads in to see Mel. He has decided they're going to be together forever. He brings her food and unties her and leaves. She imagines Chad's there reassuring her. Andrew hears her talking and busts in.
At Sami's, EJ thinks Sami knows deep down that he's innocent. They hug and just as Lucas walks in. He's shocked at what he sees and assumes EJ conned her into believing in him. Sami tries to get a word in edgewise. Lucas yells that EJ no longer exists around here. EJ reminds him Samantha is the mother of his children. Lucas invites him to leave. EJ puts Sami in the middle and she tries to explain that EJ's worried about the children. The bickering continues. EJ says, "I love my family. I love..." Lucas sneers, "Who? Who EJ?" He glances at Sami. There's a long pause. He loved his father and sister a lot. Lucas calls it trouble and focuses the argument on Will. EJ defends Will's right to work for him. Lucas threatens EJ to fire Will. This is EJ's month for empty threats. Lucas thinks he deserves it. "Liars and lowlifes always do. Stay away from Sami, Allie and Will," Lucas warns. Sami gets angry that they're speaking for her. She says who she and her kids can and can't see. "I'm not a prize," she yells. Sami reminds Lucas that this is EJ's apartment and he's her boss. EJ takes off, warning he'll be back to check on the kids. When he's gone, Lucas gives Sami a passionate kiss. He won't apologize for protecting his family.
A mystery man lets himself into EJ's apartment with the black gloves EJ threw in the bin at the pier. He remembers getting them from the bin and plants them behind a painting.
Gabi arrives at SPD and looks stunned as Bo and Hope put together the search party for Melanie. Rafe, Roman and Spencer leave the interrogation room and Rafe tells Daniel to keep the faith. Roman reassures Daniel that all of their manpower is focused on finding Melanie. Daniel and Chad go nuts when Bo and Hope refuse to allow them to help with the police search considering it can hinder the investigation. Gabi stares at the map, which covers Andrew's house. She runs off, saying she'll contact all of Melanie's friends. Chad takes a look at the map and goes off on a search. Daniel curses when he realizes what Chad has done and runs out.
Rafe, Roman and Spencer arrive at EJ's place while the mystery man is still there. Roman records as Rafe notes that the door is unlocked. "That's weird," he whispers. They start the search and find nothing. Rafe spots something off about the painting and removes it from the wall to find EJ's gloves. They bag it as EJ walks in, shocked. He sees the gloves and wonders where they came from.
Gabi races through Andrew's house calling his name. She finds the place empty and a note left behind. It reads, "I've still got Melanie. I'm going to keep her some place where nobody can find her." Gabi gasps. "What have I done?"
At the square, Hope and Bo learn Chad bolted. Chad watches them and runs away. Daniel rushes up to Bo and Hope, hoping Chad doesn't make things worse.
Chad arrives at Andrew's house and Gabi hides. He notices Mel's bracelet on the floor and kicks the door in.
