One Big Gooey Mess.

Sami and Austin accept a homemade card from Johnny, Allie and Syd before moving out of the loft. Rafe, Sami and the kids head to the pub for a party.

Carrie and Austin move into a hotel and discuss how tense things were at the loft. Austin turns on a French accent and offers a massage or a drive up to the lake. They have sex and afterward, Austin groans, "Now that's what I call quality relaxation time." Carrie wonders about how certain couples find each other like Sami and Rafe. She doesn't get why they're together. They seem to fight a lot. Austin insists they're on solid ground. Carrie can't see it.

Austin and Carrie turn up at the pub, wanting to be with family. Rafe and Carrie quietly discuss the new person they're interviewing. EJ heads to the pub and sadly watches Rafe taking photos of the family.

Good Days And Bad Days.

At the loft, Carrie is trying to help Sami clean up her kitchen but they keep bumping into each other while Austin annoys Rafe. This prompts Carrie to sit down with Austin to talk about finding a new place to stay but definitely not Stefano’s. Sami wants to talk about why they are so anxious to get out of there. This launches Carrie into a brief speech about the past just being the past, that for now they are all getting along, and it would be nice to stay that way. Sami and Rafe agree. They say good-bye as Carrie and Austin leave for work and both Austin and Sami question why Rafe and Carrie will be seeing each other later. After they leave, Rafe tells Sami about his new job working with Carrie as the lead investigator on John’s case.

Austin and Carrie arrive at the SPD. She fills Austin in on the details about hiring Rafe and he thinks she should of ran it by him first. She explains that it’s a win-win for John and Rafe. Austin counters with the fact that Rafe would still have a job if he followed the chain of command. He wonders about Sami’s feelings while Carrie praises Rafe. Soon Roman comes in to chat. Carrie leaves while Roman states he believes John is innocent while Austin admits the evidence in John’s case tells him he's guilty. Roman tells him to rely more on his heart.

A Disaster In The Making

At the pub, Kate and Austin sit chatting over lunch while Marlena stands at the bar behind them. She turns and coldly walks past their table, barely glancing at Austin which prompts Kate to ask why she snubbed him. He tells her that it’s because of his involvement in John’s case and admits the problems he’s having with Carrie are due to the same thing. They continue to discuss the case further and Austin claims there is an iron clad case against John. As Kate praises John's character, Austin tells her he questions the possibility that his previous trauma could cause problems like memory loss. They finish up by chatting about Austin’s living arrangements. Kate sneers at the mention of him living with Sami, reminding him that she'll never change. He confesses she's not the problem. Rafe is.

In Horton’s Square, the Salem teenagers are busy decorating for Halloween. Will saunters up to Gabi, who flirts with him and they kiss. Marlena wanders in to help, laughing and chatting with them. As Will goes to get drinks, Marlena confesses how special Will is to her, how she can see why Gabi loves him and then invites her to a celebration dinner when John is exonerated. Later, Marlena whisks Will off for one on one time. She wonders about a message he wrote her. He confesses to feeling confused but that's all he'll say. As Abby and Melanie hang Halloween lights, Mel gushes to her about how Chad is the perfect guy. Abby fights her feelings of jealousy as Melanie rambles on great he is. Soon Abby and Mel meet up with Gabi who admits to them that she and Will haven’t had sex since their first time. They comfort her and Gabi states that she’s happy that at least he’s showing more interest in her. Sonny and Chad check out their website concerned about the illegal gaming going on. They show Will and he blows it off claiming they don’t have any proof. Later, Sonny and Chad find evidence. Chad talks to Abigail about a Scorsese movie retrospective he wants to attend and although she says she doesn’t like those movies, she agrees to go with him after witnessing Melanie get all giddy while chatting to Chad about them. Austin finds Marlena nearby and swears he’s not turning against John but only doing his job with the SEC. A smiling Marlena believes him.

Freaking Joke.

Austin rants to Sami and Rafe at the pub about his inability to find vacancy at any of the hotels in town. The press is taking over for John's trial. He refuses to stay with Kate at the mansion and Caroline's renovating her rooms upstairs. Sami goes to great pains to convince Rafe to let Austin stay. Sami jumps up and plants a few kisses on Rafe's face when he comes around.

Sami, Rafe and Austin arrive at the loft. Austin takes a shower and Rafe sneers. Sami hopes this will help them get past the tension between them. Rafe is upset about losing his job and feels he has let her and the kids down. She suggests he start a Detective Agency but he has no cash to do so. They agree things will work out. They start making out but Austin interrupts. Rafe drags Sami to bed and Austin leaves a sweet message for Carrie on her cell before getting a drink, which he promptly spills over his jockey shorts. He removes them as Sami walks out of her room with extra towels. She jumps in surprise at seeing him naked and tosses a towel at him. He tells her what happened as he covers up and she offers to clean it up. She slips and falls on the sofa and takes him down with her. They start laughing and Rafe walks in. “What the hell is this?” he demands.

Strawberries And Whipped Cream Anyone?

In Sami’s loft, Rafe slugs Austin while accusing him of getting him fired. He angrily tells Sami about her father firing him from the force then becomes sarcastic with Austin. Sami wonders why this happened and Rafe admits to going off the record talking to Carrie about John’s case. Austin claims not to know anything about him getting fired and admits Carrie didn’t share anything with him about the case. Austin and Rafe continue to sling accusations back and forth before Austin finally asks why Rafe has all this concern with Carrie, having private confabs with her. Austin thinks Rafe should take responsibility for his actions. Sami sides with him, blurting out that at least Austin has a job causing an offended Rafe to leave the loft.
