WILL HORTON (CURRENT)'S HISTORY
Originally, Will was thought to be the son of Lucas' half-brother Austin Reed and Sami. The confusion over his paternity led to custody battles that lasted over a decade. Through all of this, he was often used as a pawn for Kate and Sami in their battles over control, a situation that often put Will in an uncomfortable position.
As he grew up, he became aggressive at school, even hurting his cousin Abby on numerous occasions. He also became disrespectful and off-handed with his parents. Things got worse for him when both of his parents became suspects in the Salem Stalker case. While the stress of this seemed to bring his parents closer together and offered him hope of their reunion, it also made him suspect that his father had returned to his drinking habit. Amidst the chaos of Sami's love life, an embarrassed Will ran away from home when she jilted Austin at the altar. She and Lucas went on television pleading for his return, all the while believing that he has been abducted. He had only gone away for some time alone. He returned safely when he ran out of money to buy food.
He moved in with his father and grandmother when Lucas was on one of his many breaks from Sami. Lucas came to befriend Sami again, for the sake of their son, before their relationship once again escalated.
Will resided with his mother and father, who married, but when circumstances forced them apart, he moved to Switzerland to be with Uncle Austin and Aunt Carrie. He returned, February 2009, wanting his parents to get back together. By the time spring rolled around, Will understood it was not going to happen and was not happy when Lucas married Chloe. They butted heads and when Sami returned home from a stint in a safe house after finding Mayor Marino dead at the DiMera mansion, she had 'adopted' a baby - Grace. The child, unbeknownst to Sami, was switched at birth with Will's girlfriend, Mia's child, (who privately had a baby with Chad Peterson Woods before Will met her) and Sami brought her home. Mia came around to help Will babysit and bond with Grace. Soon, Grace contracted Meningitis and died and months later, Sami learned that Sydney was her child and Will's sister. Nicole, who had switched babies, kidnapped Sydney. This came as quite the shock and Will and Sami and the family bonded with Sydney once they got her back but that was short lived once EJ with Anna DiMera's help kidnapped Sydney and faked her death. This crushed Will and Rafe eventually learned the truth and EJ attempted to play the hero by bringing Sydney back to the family. Will moved into the DiMera mansion with Kate when he and Sami weren't getting along, when Sami and EJ started to bond over Sydney. Eventually Sami and Will mended fences and when Sami learned the truth about EJ kidnapping Sydney, she took the kids and left the mansion. Will witnessed Sami leaving the DiMera mansion soon after. She had shot EJ. Will kept her secret even as EJ badgered Will for the truth. Will never did reveal the truth. Since then, Will has been hanging out with Gabi Hernandez. They've started dating and have had sex, but Gabi can tell that something is going on in Will's head because he doesn't appear to want intimacy with her. Will has started helping Sonny with his idea for a new school website, while trying to defend Sonny's homosexuality to his friend Tad. Eventually, Will started to deal with his own homosexuality. EJ blackmailed him into working for him. EJ would keep his homosexuality from everyone along with the knowledge that it was him, not Lucas who shot him from the public. Will did this for a time and seemed to enjoy the power and perks that came along with it. He eventually came out and quit working for EJ and is focusing on school. He started to date Sonny after finally being comfortable with who he is, though Lucas has issues with it.

Thursday, May 23 2013: Temple Of Doom.
At the hospital, Sonny tells Will that he'll be out in no time. "You're a dad." Sami and Lucas listen as Sonny says Arianna looks just like him. Sonny speaks from the heart about their love. He realizes Sami and Lucas are there. Sami hugs him. They thank Sonny for everything he's done and he goes to check on Adrianna. In the waiting area, John shows up. EJ suggests they take a stroll. In Will's room, Lucas tells him he's a hero. Sami talks to Will about the baby. She and Lucas are so happy for him. They find Sonny in the waiting area. He says Ari's doing great, and goes back in with Will. Lucas snarks about EJ, but Sami tells him not to start. They laugh and toast to becoming grandparents. In the room, Sonny tells Will they'll have a great life together with Arianna Grace. Sonny rejoins Sami and Lucas. Sami goes in to talk to Will, and Lucas tells Sonny he realizes now how much he loves Will; there's no one he'd rather see his son with.
Wednesday, May 22 2013: Nails In Stefano's Coffin.
Sonny delivers Gabi's baby on Smith Island. He spanks the baby to get her breathing and he and Gabi tear up as they meet Arianna Grace. In the shed, Nick sobs and calls Jansen inhuman, for shooting Will. Nick vows Jansen will pay, just as Hope barges in and shoots Jansen dead. She calls EMS and Will opens his eyes. Back-up finds Sonny and Gabi in some shed across the island while the EMS works on Will.
At the hospital, Daniel and Maxine hope Rafe will take a turn for the better before his niece arrives. Suddenly, the EMS arrives with Will and he goes into surgery. Hope and Nick arrive. Sonny wheels Gabi and Ari in and Maxine takes Ari for tests. Sonny and Gabi are horrified to hear of Will's shooting.
Back at the hospital, Will's in surgery when Kate, Sami, and Lucas show up. They're all shocked after hearing the news of the shooting, and Sami blames Nick, thinking he wanted Will out of the way. She beats on him until EJ arrives with Justin and pulls her off him. Dr. Knapp examines Gabi and assures her Will is in good hands - Dr. Jonas is attending. In the waiting room, everyone goes to meet Arianna while Justin, Hope, and Sonny pace. Maxine hands Ari over to Gabi in her room. The room fills with Sami, Kate, and Lucas, who fawn over the newborn. Gabi tells them Arianna weighs in at 7lbs and 20 inches. Sami holds the baby. In the waiting room, Hope tells EJ she knows he wasn't behind Rafe's attack. EJ wasn't surprised. Pointing the finger at the DiMera's is what passes for police work in this town. Nearby, Justin pats Sonny on the back for delivering Arianna. Sonny grins. He saw Will in Ari's face when he delivered her. Sonny breaks down with concern over Will but Justin promises Sonny won't lose Will. Will's love for Sonny will make him "fight like hell to come back to you," Justin says. Vargas arrives and gets an update from Hope. He goes to Nick and rides him about keeping his mouth shut. Daniel interrupts, fresh from surgery to tell the family that Will's okay. Everyone laughs in relief. Sami and Lucas go see Will. Maxine tells Sonny, Justin, EJ, and Nick that Will is doing fine. She allows Sonny to visit him, even though it's against policy. EJ says he'll recommend to the board she gets a raise. Vargas tells Nick to leave what Jansen did to him in the past. "It doesn't make you any... less of a man," Vargas says. He goes to Hope, who is beating herself up over what Ciara did. He gives her a pep talk. Meanwhile, Sonny rushes to Will's side. Later, Hope calls Roman to update him on the situation and Justin calls Adrienne. Marlena holds Arianna in Gabi's room while Kate tries to figure out who she is to the baby. They take photos and Kate sends them to everyone in her address book. A nurse pops her head in to tell Gabi she can't find Nick anywhere while Sami and Lucas walk in on a sweet moment with Sonny vowing to Will, "From now on, we're together."
