Chelsea and Melanie get into a catfight in the pub, while outside the pub, Philip takes a business call. A patron tells a barmaid that this is better than pay–per-view, while Melanie and Chelsea continue to go at it. Philip notices banging inside the pub and rushes inside, breaking up the fight. Melanie goes after Chelsea again, but Chelsea runs off. Outside, Stephanie sees her running away and calls her name, but Chelsea doesn’t turn around. Inside, Melanie tells Philip, "Somebody needed to put that dumb girl in her place." Philip tells her to watch her mouth but Melanie tells him to save his CEO crap for somebody that cares!"
Chelsea arrives at Cheatin’ Heart and cries to Max that Melanie’s right. She’s the reason Nick snapped and killed Max’s father. Max doesn’t buy any of this, but Chelsea reminds him of her past mistakes. Max tells her not to let Melanie ruin her confidence and reminds her of all the good work she does at the hospital. Chelsea needs to make amends with Nick, but Max says Nick is responsible for his own actions, not her. The guy has been out of control for months. He knows that while not everything is inherited, Nick’s mother was also out of control. “You are not responsible, so accept it and move on,” he tells her. Chelsea starts to feel better and has to leave. Before she does, Max says he’s happy to hear she’s recovering, and reminds her he’s always there for her.
Chelsea goes to Bo’s office to see Nick. “I’m sorry,” she says. She doesn’t think he’s the type to have done any of this but he is. He knows he scared Melanie but wanted to make him need her so he could take care of her. She didn’t know this and thinks it’s a good idea for him to go away so he can’t hurt anyone. Chelsea says he hasn’t hurt anyone and accuses him of giving up. He tells her that Melanie never wants to talk to him again, after what he did. “And I’m in love with her.” A crying Maggie interrupts and Chelsea leaves. He asks her to offer Melanie a place to stay. Nick wishes Melanie knew he didn’t mean to scare her. He just wanted to make her happy. Chelsea thinks if Melanie has time to think about it… Nick shakes his head. He saw himself in her eyes, as an animal. Chelsea says, “Nick, we all know you. That’s why we know it had to be the pills. That wasn’t you in the room.” Nick denies it. Melanie’s the only one who knows the truth. Nick asks her to take care of her grandmother, who isn’t a total lost cause, instead of him. The guard throws Chelsea out when Nick gets worked up. Chelsea is confused when Nick can’t stand up to hug her. They’ve taken his belt, he says.
Melanie arrives at the Brady pub to apply for the position and meets Philip. "Don’t you own Titan Enterprises? Why do you still work?” Philip tells her to take a seat and looks at her resume. He pokes fun at her resume and she gets up to leave. He stops her and knows she’s been through a terrible time. He hopes things get better, but he can’t give her a job. She brings up the night he lead her on in her room and angrily stomps off. Maggie bumps into her and offers her a place to stay until she finds whatever she’s looking for. Melanie is shocked. Maggie says there’s a condition. It’s temporary. Melanie knows she’s being nice, but it feels like she’s blaming her. Maggie thinks if they leave Nick’s name out of conversation, they can make it work. Melanie takes a key from Maggie. Chelsea bumps into Maggie on her way into the pub. She brings up Nick and thinks Melanie has no compassion. Melanie doesn’t give a damn about how Nick feels and reminds Chelsea of what he did to her. Melanie thinks Nick’s crazy and says Chelsea’s the training wheels to Nick’s first murder. Melanie doesn’t know where Chelsea has the right to be judgmental, and brings up Zach’s death. She’s tired of Chelsea’s accusations and grabs her and throws her against a table. Catfight!
At the pub, Maggie tells Hope that it was devastating to tell Jessica and Joshua Fallon that their son Nick was arrested for murder. She cries and blames herself for not taking better care of their son. Chelsea asks Bo if Nick can get off easy, but Bo says his behavior after the murder makes things worse. Chelsea wants to visit Nick, but he needs psychiatric help, so she has to wait. Bo says Nick was once obsessed with her, but Chelsea denies it. She says they had a relationship. Talk turns to Kate and Bo asks Chelsea to join in the celebration of Kate’s release from University Hospital. Maggie goes off to stop by Mickey’s office to check on Nick’s defense.
Brady shows up at the pub to Chloe and Lucas’ table. Chloe asks Brady to join them, much to Lucas’ chagrin and Lucas brings up Brady being clean for a year. In a jealous display, Lucas brings up buying the house for him and Chloe. Chloe tells Brady that Kate’s going to arrive for a celebration because she’s being released from the hospital today. “She has cancer.” Brady’s shocked and apologetic toward Lucas. He gets up and takes a call from Nicole, and she tells him that EJ’s on a plane to Argentina and there’s something wrong with the baby. He agrees to go get her and after he leaves, Chloe accuses Lucas of being jealous. They laugh as he admits it, but Chloe calls Brady her past and Lucas her future. They kiss.
Daniel and Kate arrive at the pub to welcoming hugs from Chelsea and Lucas. Chloe welcomes her home. Kate wishes she could have seen Allie, but Daniel says she had a cold, and glares at her. Kate wants to see her tomorrow, on her way to work, but Lucas raises an eyebrow. “Work?” Kate’s kidding. Daniel goes to get more drinks and Lucas ushers Chloe after him, so he can urge Kate not to go back to work so soon.
At the bar, Daniel apologizes to Chelsea for what happened to Nick. Chelsea says it’s ironic. She broke Nick’s heart to be with Daniel and Daniel did the same thing to her! Daniel thought they were past this but Chelsea spits out, “Apparently not!” She storms off.
Later, Daniel and Chloe wind up outside. Chloe calls Chelsea a drama queen, saying she has a history of that herself. Daniel had no idea, but Chloe points out that he doesn’t know her well, though they’re practically family. She goes back inside.
Kate is happy that Chelsea came to her celebration and Chelsea apologizes to her grandmother. She thinks she’s a great person and respects her. Kate feels the same. She knows Chelsea has difficulty forgiving people but Kate says she doesn’t want her to continue with her anger, and blames others because life is too short.
Outside the office, Stephanie can’t believe they could have been so wrong. They hug, and Max shows up. Nick hasn’t been the same since Willow died,” he says, and Chelsea comes in behind him. She faults herself. Crying, she blames herself, but Max tells her something pushed him over the edge. Melanie walks in and everyone becomes quiet. Stephanie tells Max she’s fine and she thanks Philip. He hugs her and apologizes for what she went through. Stephanie and Chelsea blame Melanie for Nick having to go to jail for the rest of his life. Max yells at them while Melanie tells them that Nick tortured her. Chelsea says she has lied to the police and obstructed justice, while Stephanie tells Melanie that she lied to him and ruined his whole life.
Maggie rushes into the police station and into Bo’s office, taking Nick in a big hug. Hope realizes that Nick used his one call to call Maggie and not his lawyer.
Nick apologizes to Maggie, at the station, and Maggie knew he was drinking and taking the pain pills. She should have been there for him. Maggie asks Hope if Nick will be convicted. Maggie sobs as Bo tells her Nick will definitely go to prison. “No, no, no,” she repeats, horrified. Nick’s mug shots are taken and Maggie says for him to hang in there. Uncle Mickey’s on his way. Nick walks by Melanie and tells her he loves her. He apologizes to Max for hurting her and leaves, as Melanie cries. Chelsea calls Melanie pathetic, because she can’t tell him she’s sorry, too. Melanie asks Max if he’s mad at her as well. “Please say you’re not," she cries, and Max hugs her close. Chelsea and Stephanie cry as Nick is led away by Hope and Maggie.
At Maggie’s place, Hope tells Maggie and Bo that Melanie has left town and taken Nick with her. Bo calls for Max and Chelsea to come over and once they do, Bo explains what happened. Max assumes that Melanie is to blame, but asks if they’re certain that the two are going together. He recalls a discussion with Mel at the park. He told her that Nick was in love with her and it 'weirded her out'. “Why would she go away with him?” Bo makes a call and tells everyone that Nick got his prescription filled recently. In tears, Maggie shows Bo a note. “I saw you at the cemetery, I know what happened.” Chelsea wonders if Melanie wrote the note to herself and Maggie agrees. Hope says though the stationary is Maggie’s, the handwriting is what counts. Chelsea recognizes the handwriting as Nick’s!
Max starts his shift at Cheatin’ Heart and Chelsea visits the bar. They discuss Melanie and how guilty Max feels about their last conversation. He knows Melanie had means and a motive to kill. Trent ruined the first 18 years of her life and if she’s guilty, it’ll screw up the rest of her life, too. Chelsea says if Nick is in love with Melanie, why would he send her a threatening note? Max wonders if running away was Nick’s idea. Chelsea makes a quick call to Bo. After Chelsea’s call, she and Max continue to discuss what may be.
