In a booth, Bo, Abe and Roman figure out that there is a serial number on the glass. They read, "27RL4. It doesn’t give us much."
Shawn Sr. makes a toast. Everyone raises their glasses. "To my boy Johnny, a Brady if there ever was one."
Shawn Sr. barricades himself in Andre's room and puts his finger over the power button to Andre's respirator, ready to turn it off. "This is for Colleen," he says, but he gets an "other worldly" visit from Colleen who interrupts to ask that he not turn to vengeance and remember that the DiMeras do not know any better. When Colleen's apparition is gone, Shawn turns to Andre and says there's a price to be paid. Again he's ready to turn the power off, and asks God for forgiveness for what he is about to do. Unsteadily he says he can't do it. "Colleen taught me to well," he says and turns away. Andre leans over and slowly presses the button while Shawn spins around shocked." What are you doing?!" Andre flat lines and Shawn is stunned. He sits down and sighs while the guard comes pounding on the door!
When the guard and nursing staff enter the room, they find Andre dead. Shawn leaves the room quietly and takes a seat in the lobby while Stefano enters the room and demands to know what happened. The staff is not certain but says they found an elderly man in Andre's room with his dead nephew. Stefano comes to the realization that Shawn was there. He orders the doctor to allow him to talk to him before the authorities arrive, then sits by Andre's side and tells him that he was loyal to the very end - "My best soldier." After he has said his goodbyes, he recites a phrase from an old opera. "What restrains me now? Why don't I just draw my sword?" Stefano goes to Shawn tortured and cannot believe that after he has bared his soul to his old friend, this is how he's repaid. He lets on that the vendetta could have been over but Shawn has now given it life and blood to avenge!! Shawn stares seething at Stefano.
Shawn Sr. arrives at Andre DiMera's room and talks the guard into letting him visit Andre.
Inside the hospital room, Stefano talks to an unconscious Andre, asking him what he was thinking, killing Benjy and attempting to take EJ's life? He says he can't punish him because he blames himself for turning Andre into a twisted person. Stefano starts to cry and promises to fix everything.
Shawn Sr. enters the room and tells Stefano he has business with them both. Shawn tells Stefano that his son almost died because of the vendetta and Andre and tells him this vendetta goes back to Colleen. Stefano agrees but they disagree on who seduced whom - Colleen or Santo. Stefano reminds Shawn that his father Peter was forcing Colleen into the nunnery, and he thinks she saw Santo as an out. He asks, "What about my mother?" Shawn blames himself for Colleen and tells Stefano that they never found Colleen's body. "Of course you didn't you fool," yells Stefano. Shawn is shocked and asks what he means by this. Stefano pauses and says that would make it too easy on his mother. While Santo and his mother's marriage was arranged, she actually loved Santo but since his mother was plain, Santo didn't look inside to see what a beautiful woman was beneath. He admits he purposely told Shawn his mother was not dead. "You used me? Damn you! Damn you!" Shawn spits out before he leaves. "If you only knew…" Stefano says.
Shawn sits outside of Andre's room crying about how Stefano used him to kill his own sister. He spies EJ walking into Andre's room.
EJ goes into Andre's room, where Stefano is reading Dante's Divine Comedy to unconscious Andre. EJ is surprised Stefano's there, but Stefano says that they all make mistakes. EJ agrees and says that's why he's there. He asks for help and Stefano says his feelings for Samantha are making him soft. He says young Will is back in town and he made a little threat to Samantha but he needs help in driving the point home. Stefano is disgusted and doesn't want to hurt an innocent child. Stefano thinks that EJ ought to find another woman, but EJ says he loves her. Stefano says he's done all he can, so EJ says he'll do it on his own. "You'll make an enemy of her for life. Want my advice, leave her children alone. God knows there are enough Bradys to use."
Stefano leaves Andre's room to apologize to Shawn for what he did as a child. He tells him he was just a young boy. He shouldn't be so hard on himself. Stefano goes to make a phone call and Shawn goes into Andre's room. Andre's starting to wake up and Shawn asks if he's in pain. Andre nods he is and Shawn tells him that's good. He uses his cane to barricade the door and slowly walks toward Andre!
At the TV station, Andre slowly creeps out the door while holding Hope at gunpoint. After he vanishes, Bo runs after them, gun drawn. 'Well done Steve! You just saved Roman and got Hope killed!' Stefano sarcastically congratulates his recent captor. They begin to worry about what's happened to Sami at the pub. Roman is sure that it's too late for her. He tells the police officers to take Steve away and lock him up. Stefano vows to Steve that he will be spending the rest of his life in the mental hospital. 'For trying to kill you, I must be the sanest man in Salem, ' Steve taunts. As Roman is wheeled away by paramedics, he thanks Steve for saving him. Staring each other down, Stefano taunts Steve, telling him that it will be fun destroying him. Steve shoots a threat back. 'No one talks to Stefano DiMera like that for very long,' the old man threatens. When EJ arrives, Stefano is relieved to see his son. They sit down and he anxiously asks him what happened and if Sami is alright. EJ assures him that everything is okay and they just need to get him home now. Stefano is distraught though; he can't stop thinking about what Andre did to Benjy. He never wanted a life like this for his children. He failed his father, now he's failing his children, he sadly admits, taking a drink to calm his nerves. EJ reminds him that he taught him about family honor and how important it is to protect it. Stefano is skeptical, but EJ insists that a new DiMera dynasty is set to begin and their way of life will go on. He promises his father that Lucas will only be a part time influence on the children and won't be able to compete. Stefano doesn't think this is the best time to be making plans, but EJ disagrees. He only needs his father to help him separate Lucas from Sami for good. Stefano reminds him that the vendetta is ending and so is the violence. EJ already has a plan though, well, actually it's his grandfather's plan. As soon as he can marry Sami, he will convince her to give up everything she holds dead, just as Santo did with Colleen. Kayla runs in and embraces Steve. He tells her about Hope being taken captive and apologizes for upsetting her. 'What you did here was so brave, but it was so sad for all of us,' she tells him before he is led out, glaring at Stefano as he goes.
Bo and his men follow Andre up to the roof with their guns out. He tells them to stand down and sends them inside to cover the exists. 'It's just us,' he tells Andre, reminding him that they've hit a dead end. 'I can always jump...I've done it before,' Andre grins. Now that EJ is the single heir, he doesn't have anything to live for; he's been jumping through hoops for Stefano, now he can jump for himself. Bo and Hope remind him that Stefano just wants peace and if he can give that to him, the old man would be grateful. Bo promises him that he can walk away as long as he frees Hope. Instead, Andre creeps closer to the edge. Desperate, Bo offers him a deal: If he can help them build a case against Stefano and they'll let him go free. 'You're a liar just like Stefano!' Although Bo continues to make promises, Andre remains unconvinced. As Bo takes out his gun again and points it, Andre warns him that he better make the shot count because he'll only get one. As he's about to pull the trigger, Hope breaks lose. Bo shoots at Andre as he falls from the roof and Hope falls after. He manages to grab her hand before she can fall and pulls her up. Two cops run up and tell them that Andre is still alive, even if he's in bad shape. Although that's hard to believe, he's just relieved that his wife is safe. 'Some days you get lucky,' he says, kissing Hope. When she thinks of everything that's happened and what will come, she admits that this doesn't feel like the end. 'No Fancy Face... this is far from the end...'
