Mimi shows up to the penthouse to talk to Belle. She apologizes about the baby and tells her Shawn and she is getting a divorce. She tells Belle its best she doesn't know the details and gives her blessing to her to be with Shawn. She shares the news about the surrogate, and asks Belle to admit that there is something between her and Shawn.
Welcome home!
At the hospital, Carrie visits with Belle, telling her the scoop about how Marlena is safe, and now she doesn't have to worry about anything else but herself. Belle is relieved, but feels she's concentrating on herself way too much lately! Carrie reminds her that she isn't selfish for loving Shawn, but she is being selfish for staying with Philip. Belle tells her sister that Shawn doesn't want a future with her or Claire. She explains how Shawn had filed for partial custody of Claire and then dropped the lawsuit. Carrie is stunned to hear that Mimi and Shawn are getting a divorce, and wonders what is standing in the way. Outside Belle's room, Shawn stands, rubbing the sign. Shawn starts to walk in, bearing flowers, only to overhear Belle say "Shawn and I are over. I do not want to see or talk to him again!"
As Shawn sadly walks away, Belle tries to tell herself that she and Philip could be happy together. Carrie shares her own story about Lucas and Austin and tells her to tell Shawn she loves him and wants to spend the rest of her life with him. Carrie gives her sister advice about her relationships with both men, telling her to start thinking about Belle first, before everyone else. She asks Belle to let Philip go so he can find someone else who loves him as much as she loves Shawn. They talk more, and in walks Marlena and John with hugs and kisses for them both. Marlena tells her daughters she is staying right there! They ask her to stay with them so they can take care of her!
Marlena is found!
Sami visits Belle in the hospital. They both get emotional as Sami apologizes to her sister for the loss of her baby. Sami tells her to have faith that they will make things work out! She knows that not only is Philip grieving the baby but he is afraid of losing Claire, because Shawn is suing for partial custody. Sami wonders if she is happy about him asking for custody. Belle changes the subject to Marlena and Sami tells her that Marlena will be okay. She calls John, telling him Belle lost the baby and asks about Marlena. John is devastated and tells her he is working on a lead. He reassures Sami he will find her mom. Sami shares the news with her sister and they bond.
Shawn interrupts Victor and Kate's discussion at the hospital. Victor tells Shawn that Titan is pulling funding of his engine. Shawn is shocked and extremely upset but Victor tells him that he can't avoid the bad publicity.
Maggie brings Claire to visit Belle in the hospital and Frankie shows up to let Belle in on the news that Shawn dropped the custody suit. After he leaves, Belle tells Claire, "He's not going to fight for either of us." Later, Frankie shows up at the hospital and Shawn fills him in. He still thinks Claire is better off with Philip and Belle.
Steve remembers!
In Belle's hospital room, Dr. Ross tells Shawn and Philip the only thing they can do is to take the baby, or the risks will be greater. She could die. She asks him to sign the consent form. Philip tells an unconscious Belle that he can't risk losing her and signs the papers for the doctors to take the baby. Shawn agrees with Philip's decision to take the baby.
Belle comes out of the anesthesia to find out the baby was taken. Philip explains that it was the only way they could save her. Shawn stands with his eyes closed tight, upset. Phil tries to explain to a devastated Belle but she yells at him to get out. Phil asks Shawn to stay with her and he holds Belle, telling her it'll be alright. She is inconsolable when he tells her that Philip had no choice and they still have Claire. The nurse gives her a shot to make her rest and she apologizes to Philip for her outburst before falling asleep.
The race is on!
In the hospital, Belle whimpers. Phil shares his concerns to Lexi. Her blood pressure is very high but she refuses medication from Lexi, for fear it will hurt the baby. Shawn shows up, much to Philip's chagrin and as he tries to ask him to leave, Belle calls out to him. Her head hurts. The two men leave her alone with nurses and Lexi.
Outside the room, Phil and Shawn argue. Phil thinks Shawn is being selfish. Lexi comes out to tell them that they're running tests on her.
Phil visits Belle, telling her he can't ask her to let him go. He begs her to take the medication. She cries, and asks him to promise if she has a stroke or slips into a coma that he will ensure that they do not give her the medication, and her heart rate spikes. He promises and then Belle goes unconscious.
Dr. Ross asks Philip to make a difficult choice. It's either Belle or the baby.
