    Ian was born in Hamilton, Scotland. His mother was a nurse, and his father a foreman. He has five siblings. Ian has worked as a model for the Ford Agency before moving to Los Angeles, where he began acting on "General Hospital" as Duke Lavery. From there, the actor moved to "It's Garry Shandling's Show," and has appeared on "The Equalizer," "Twin Peaks" as Dick Tremayne, and various television shows. He has spent a lot of time working in Daytime television, on "Bold and The Beautiful" as Dr. James Warwick, "All My Children," as Dr. Greg Madden, and did a small spot on "Days Of Our Lives" as Lord Sheraton. He has returned to "Days" but this time he portrays the self-professed villain, Ian McAllister.
