Nic helps Sami. Never thought I'd see the day! (Soaps.com)
These are the "DAYS" of my week for June 22-29:
I missed a few of the shows so had to write my thoughts based on some of Rolla’s great updates! It appears to have been a good week, leading us into two more storylines and pushing Kate’s storyline to the forefront. Let’s start with them, this week!
Kate/Daniel/Chloe/Lucas saga: This week, Chloe and Daniel gazed longingly into each other’s eyes. I found myself wanting to yell, "Just jump him already, Chloe. You know you want it." Kate waited for Chloe to eat the poisoned appetizers, but instead of her eating them, she dropped them and Kate had to get more. She made a big stink about Chris finding other appetizers, because there was no poison in the new batch, so she took it upon herself to inject the new batch – Lucas could have died! What is this woman thinking? Isn’t Chris going to start wondering what’s up? Why did Kate tape the conversation with Daniel? How will she use this against him? We heard Chloe and Lucas finally moved into their new house and that gives Kate an idea. Since Daniel’s sending the "happy couple" a fruit basket as a housewarming gift, Kate will now inject an apple with the poison.
Rolla wrote, "Lucas and Chloe meet at the Java Café and Chloe gives him a photo album that Lucas’ father had given to him. Lucas is surprised because he thought it was lost in the fire but Chloe explains that Henderson found it, and hopes he could add more pictures in it." What fire? The explosion? And why is this significant? Curiouser and curiouser. I wish I had seen all episodes!
Will/Rafe: A bit surprised to hear Will telling Rafe that Johnny’s better off with the DiMera’s. No matter how angry with Sami he is, he knows better than that. After all, it was only a few short weeks ago that he explained to Mia all about who the DiMera’s were. How come he hasn’t had this talk with Lucas? Why with Rafe? Sometimes I feel as though they’re fazing Lucas out, because we rarely see him.
Nicole/Rafe: Who is going to find Nicole out? Rafe is already finding her overly sensitive to Grace's plight, considering she has no connection to the child. Nicole reminded all of us that Grace was Sydney's sister, and used this as an excuse to visit her grave. Rafe bought that this was Nic's reason for being at the cemetery, lucky for her.
Speaking of the cemetery, who is Emily and what was she to Rafe and Arianna? A sister, daughter, friend, ex-lover of Rafe? We know she was born in 1978 and we’ll learn more about her this coming week!
Mia/Rafe: That Rafe gets around. Not only is Rafe starting to notice that Nicole cares too much about Grace, but he remembers Mia as being the girl who tried to stop EJ and Nicole’s wedding. He’s asking all sorts of questions about how she knows Brady, but will he settle for her answer that they know each other from a 12-step meeting? Rafe starts wondering how Mia knows Nicole, which we hope means he started doing more sleuthing and asked Nicole where she knew Mia from. Nicole lies that she knew her from her work with troubled teens. That’s a lie she’ll have to memorize. I don’t see Rafe stopping his inquiries soon.
Bope: It’s bad enough that the Salem Spectator posted Hope’s name and photo in their newspaper, along with a story about the humongous "anonymous donation" she made, (Bo must be raking it in, now!) but now, some mysterious person is all over that news. That doesn’t bode well. That’s all I’ll say about that. Bo had another vision of searching for Ciara, which we don’t care about. Or do we? You tell me. I couldn’t care less, only because we are teased with this storyline only to have the show put it on the back burner for a week or two then return to it, after we’ve long since forgotten it existed. Bo had a few visions this week. One was from Zack, his dead son. I’m not sure if that means something more than the usual visions and am not sure why they’re using Zack’s memory this way. Any thoughts?
Bo and Hope reacquainted themselves with Nathan and tried to ruin Melanie’s chances with the new (Horton?) by warning him about Melanie being the one who sent Nick to prison. Why rat out Melanie when Nick’s the psycho who sent himself to prison? I wasn’t impressed. Incidentally, when I questioned Mark Hapka (Nathan) last week about who his character’s father was, he was very elusive. Told me to keep watching! That’s intriguing. While we know a lot about Chad -Casey Deidrick’s character, we are told so very little about Nathan’s. Anyway, I’m glad Maggie set Nathan straight about Nick and that Melanie let him know that she is the one who got Nick the light sentence with her testimony. It’s about time Mel had a little happiness, don’t you think? Maybe she’ll have some with Nathan, unless of course Stephanie dumps Philly and needs a new man. Let’s delve deeper into that…
Melanie: Yoda: "Crushing on Nathan she is." I noticed that Philly reassured Melanie that he doesn’t think the worst of her anymore. Big turnaround from what he thought of her before she helped to save Stephanie’s life. Melanie found Steph’s prescription drugs and automatically wondered if Philly and Steph aren’t working out and if Steph has a dependency issue. My head spun! That’s surely not the first thing I’d have thought of. Frankly, I’d have assumed that she needed a little help to get through her nightmare with Owen, but then I’m not on a soap and don’t jump to conclusions! Perhaps the way Steph treated Melanie when she left the hospital was more of an indicator to Melanie that things may not be all orchids and Godiva for Philanie. Since Max is in England, Mel couldn’t tell him about Stephanie’s drama, so instead went to Nathan and told her the pills he caught her with were for a friend who is keeping secrets from her fiancé. Then she went to Philip to spill and moments later, chastised herself. Will this girl ever learn to keep things to herself? At least this time, her heart was sort of in the right place! (We still love her, since she was so cute to try to set up Arianna and Brady.)
Here’s the thing, if Steph dumped Phil, could Phil be open to revisiting things with Melanie? Now that many have finally warmed to her, I’m curious about your thoughts on that? Let’s vote!
Sami/EJ/Johnny: Nobody can complain that Sami and EJ never duke it out. This week, they had their moments. Samanther told EJ he was a "Sociopath who is unfit to be a parent." This is the same woman who told him over and over, how much of a wonderful parent he was. I guess after a man takes custody of your kid, you change your tune. Did you enjoy EJ's threat toward Rafe when Sami alluded that one day he could be Johnny's father? "I'll kill him before that happens." Idle death threats aren’t the norm in soaps, so what does this mean? I laughed when EJ told Sami that what she did was criminal. He would know. It was entertaining when she asked EJ how he'd get custody of Johnny. "Bribery or blackmail?" (Bribery as it would appear, as we’ll see when he speaks with Judge Karen Fitzpatrick, Monday!)
I understand how crazed Sami is with what EJ’s doing to her in keeping her from Johnny, but her thinking of running away with Johnny didn’t sit well with me. I understand why she’d want to do it but how could she possibly think of doing this when she has two other children? I guess she feels Lucas would do well by Allie and Will, but still. That’s not the way to fight. I guess it doesn’t matter, since Nicole’s guilt seems to be eating her up enough to call Sami and tell her she’ll find a way for her to see Johnny. Good luck, Nicole. Johnny can speak! Won’t he spill that he saw "Mummy" to EJ? Way to go against the DiMera’s!
Nic: Arianna and Nicole had themselves a little chat about Brady. Let me get this straight. Nicole warned Arianna not to treat Brady like dirt – the way she has treated him in the past. Somehow I don’t think Arianna needed the warning.
Readers are telling me that they’re tired of nobody learning about the baby switch storyline so I polled you on what should happen. A whopping 70% of you said Nicole should be the one to tell EJ the truth about the baby switch and 7% of you said EJ and Sami should never find out. I’m in the camp who wants it to come out before fall and am curious as to why the 7% feel the way they do. It seems as though we’re at least a little closer to the reveal with Nicole’s guilt forcing her to take Johnny to see Sami against EJ’s wishes. Poor Sami. She’s so snowed by Nicole and is starting to trust her, now that Nicole allowed Sami to see Johnny. It’s going to be that much worse when Sami learns the truth. I can hardly wait! Shaking in my knickers, I am!
Stephanie/Philly: Steph got a letter from Kayla. Nice touch. "They can't get online there," she told Philly. I thought maybe they were visiting Bill in Africa, but we’re told they’re in some third world country and that Steph couldn’t visit. Philly sent them supplies and was so generous, offering to fly her there on the company jet. I've never known him to be this way. At first I thought, ah love. He's a man in love. So generous was he to offer to take her to see her family, but then he ruined it for us (Steph and I.) and started talking about "Kickback Kkarma". Blah blah blah. Poor Philly just doesn't understand!
The best man: What’s with Lucas refusing to be Philly’s best man at his wedding? He refused because he doesn’t like the way Victor treats Chloe. Isn’t it Philip’s wedding to Stephanie? What’s that got to do with Victor? As if that should stop Lucas from being best man at his brother’s wedding. I am truly shocked by this. Not that it matters. I doubt there will be a wedding, but still!
Drugs and Swimming: Just say no! Instead of going back to her therapist and telling her that she needed a higher dosage of anti-anxiety pills, which is one option, Steph took 6 pills instead of the 3 prescribed, per day. She prepared to go swimming and was overcome with dizziness and fell on the patio, instead of swimming and then spent some time in the emergency room with Daniel and Lexi. Our little addict preferred to keep the drug addiction from Philly and eyed up her prescription bottle longingly, so while she told Daniel she didn’t want any more meds, we all know that this isn’t over yet. I understood why she didn’t tell Philip about the pills, knowing that instead of listening to her, he’d blame himself and try to buy something to ‘make it all better’. Shame Stephanie hasn’t a friend or family member to talk to. Instead of confessing her feelings about her fiancé to them, she chose to go to Chloe’s pal, Father Matt and discuss her situation. She has made a decision!
Stay tuned to find out just what that is and I’ll chat with you Friday for this week’s scoop!
