Deconstructing "DOOL" from September 23 - 27:
A word to the wise: If you visit Salem, don’t drink the water. It has properties that will turn normally level-headed folks into meddlesome citizens. Maggie, the cult leader responsible for training everyone to interfere, wasn’t seen all week. Fingers crossed she’s busy scouting the neighbouring town for a Meddlers Anonymous. Goodness knows there isn’t one in Salem...
Meet the meddlers:
Nicole accused Brady of turning into Maggie. Hello pot? Meet kettle. Nicole’s been interfering in Brady’s love-life for a while. She doesn’t know what the words ‘it’s time to back off’ mean... though, it does appear she may have come to a realization that she’ll never get anything but gratitude from Father Eric. It does not do to dwell on things we cannot have! With both EJ and Brady reminding her of this, one hopes she'll take Miles' offer, change jobs, and try to move on.
Victor pounced on Abigail and told her Jennifer was making a big mistake by ending things with Daniel. Not only does Victor not know the full story, he wouldn’t know healthy if it bit him on the ass. And Abigail should also stay out of her mother’s love-life and focus on her own.
Chloe returned to Salem, drank copious amounts of Salem water and turned into a younger, brunette version of Maggie. She peppered Daniel with questions about Jennifer and when she didn’t get anywhere she called her "friend" Anne Milbauer and got the scoop. Last time she was seen, she told Daniel she realized Anne wasn’t her friend. Suddenly, now that Chloe’s "healthy," Anne’s her friend again? It makes no sense whatsoever. And since Daniel is nothing to her but Parker’s father, she should just stay the hell out of his love-life. It’s all part of letting go – something she said she learned from her new therapist. Actions speak louder than words.
Marlena didn’t focus on Sami’s dreadful time in jail except to ask Kristen to help her get EJ to allow her to have the kids stay with her during the trial. Otherwise, she made herself pretty scarce, yet she told Victor she’s been too worried about Sami and Kristen and now needs to focus on Eric. Right. She didn’t focus on Sami at all during her daughter’s ordeal that we saw. She was too busy prying into Brady and Kristen’s relationship. What about her own relationship with John?
Let’s take it to a vote to find out who you think the biggest busybody is!
Poor Father Eric. The priest was defrocked by a lunatic, and is plagued with naughty images of what went on in that hotel room. At least he’s closer to learning the truth. In Friday's episode, it almost appeared he realized Kristen was the woman from his visions.
It's been so long since Sonny kept Gabi's secret rendezvous from Will that I forgot about it. Sonny's in for a big fight! This was one time I didn't think a character was interfering in something that isn't his business. Will has every right to be angry about Nick and Gabi but it's likely this will blow over since Gabi muttered to herself about moving on from Nick. The problem now lies with Nick being unable to let go. There's trouble looming ahead!
Anne and Theresa are working together to seek revenge on Her Royal Hortonness but is this once again another chance to pimp the yawnfest that is Dannifer? "Days" is quickly turning into the Jennifer Horton show.
Look up the word 'patience' in the dictionary. You'll find Daniel Jonas' photo.
JJ had a temper tantrum at Daniel’s after breaking into his apartment and smashed the photo of his mother and the good doctor. He may as well have written "JJ was here" on the wall. It took Daniel all of two seconds to figure out JJ broke in and he didn't even call the cops on the little brat. Then again, I'm thankful he's not telling Jennifer because I’m not sure how much more she can take without snapping and it'll only prolong the focus on this "couple" and their constant issues. Jenn ordering Daniel to stay away from her and JJ is meaningless in this stupid on-again, off-again relationship.
Chad and EJ.
I love that EJ used Chad’s lies to force him to move into the DiMera mansion. How devilish and so EJ. But with all of the talk between Sonny and Gabi about Chad and what Gabi did to Melanie, it is starting to appear as though Chad will be off to jail by the end of the year. Maybe that recast which described Chad was a red-herring or for another character. Just conjecture. Either way I hope this story is on the front burner. We learned Nathan Owens is leaving Days. It’s a shame the show never did much with this character.
Jennifer’s now partially blaming Theresa for JJ selling grass. JJ’s no follower. He’s a leader and Theresa had nothing to do with him selling pot. He was doing it long before she came along and Jennifer knows this. At least she didn’t blame dazed and confused Rory but until she places the owness on JJ, she’ll have issues with him.
Again, something about Kate and Rafe’s scenes bugged me this week. One of my writers, Violette, says, "It's like it's his mother visiting him all the time fussing over his care. She should sext him what she's going to do to him when he gets out or something. Otherwise move it along already." She hit the nail on the head.
Nicole to Brady, "You are turning into Maggie."
Victor, "Nicole and I were conspiring about Obama’s birth certificate. We’re going to Kenya to investigate."
Rafe, "Do you always have to look like it's raining and you forgot your umbrella?"
Nicole, "Celibacy never says we're out of milk."
