"Hope could definitely move on without Bo romantically. But it would have to take something big."

For months we have watched Hope live her life in Salem without her longtime scene partner Bo (Peter Reckell). Kristian Alfonso talks with about what it’s been like acting without him and what else she has been up to outside of Salem. Where would you like to see Hope go from here?

Alfonso: On an adventure. I don’t know – the possibilities are endless. There are a plethora of things and I hope they are writing them all. Does it feel strange playing Hope without Peter?

Alfonso: No, not at all. We miss seeing him and do I miss working with him? Of course. We have such history together. But he made the decision to leave and he is happy and I heard he just sold his house and is enjoying life. I am too, but I am still on the show. How would you feel if the show recast Bo?

Alfonso: Peter can’t be recast. With Bo gone would you like to see Hope move on with another man? Is that even believable?

Alfonso: It is absolutely believable. Why would it not be? Hope could definitely move on without Bo romantically. But it would have to take something big. Because Hope is incredibly loyal, has never betrayed Bo except once when she thought he had slept with Billie. It was right after the death of their son, they had buried him and then she started receiving emails that he wanted a divorce. Her life was over, she couldn’t deal and she had a confidante there, a friend, Patrick (Brody Hutzler), and he listened and was a great ear to talk to and one thing led to another, Hope thinking it’s over. So absolutely. Hope has been a real rock for Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) through her troubles. How has Hope been affected by what her cousin is going through?

Alfonso: Hope is very concerned for Jennifer and how she turns herself inside out and how Jennifer gives herself such a hard time about Daniel (Shawn Christian). And she is hard on herself. Daniel really loves her and Jennifer is such a selfless character and always wants the best and is always thinking of everyone else and always puts herself last. We haven’t seen Hope really talking about Bo leaving. Would she consider talking with Marlena (Deidre Hall) as a friend?

Alfonso: Sure, absolutely. They talk, just off camera. She does talk and actually there is a huge conversation coming up that I am taping tomorrow which will be very interesting. She talks to people, bits and pieces, without revealing too much. How is Ciara (Lauren Bowles) handling Bo’s absence?

Alfonso: Well, I think she craves her father’s love. Not that it’s not there, just not physically there. As any child would crave their parents' physical and emotional love when they have been gone for so long. What are your thoughts on there being no divorce for John (Drake Hogestyn) and Hope/Gina? Should it be addressed?

Alfonso: I don’t think so because a piece of paper will not change how the couples feel about one another. It’s what happens in the relationship, and things that happen within their lives that would change their relationship. Not a piece of paper. Aside from the show, we would love to hear how your jewelry line is going.

Alfonso: Hope Faith Miracles was the first company that I started seven years ago and is doing great, and now I am doing the Believe line which is my diamond gem line which is now a year old. It is so exciting and so fun. It is tremendous fun, and is a tremendous amount of work. It is truly a labor of love because it has to be perfect. And I have to love it as much as I feel someone else would. Which pieces would you recommend for summer?

Alfonso: What I love about the lines, I really try to design things that are affordable and my Hope Faith Miracles line is all sterling, 14k gold with AAA quality CZs, which is why they have such fire to them like diamonds, and they are actually rated just like diamonds. And then I have my diamond line, also incredibly affordable. And you can mix them together. And I love layering. I layer everything. My Shimmering Elegance, a 36" and a 60" can be wrapped three times. It is an incredible staple and I wear it all the time. And you can wear it as a bracelet as well.

There are so many pieces that you can mix and match, but not sets, although you can do them as sets. I do these green onyx earrings which are round discs, set in gold, but then the ring I did is oval. And then I did the pendant. And very rarely will I do something that kind of matches exact, but they all meld together so brilliantly, and color, color, color. Is there anything you can tell us about Hope’s future?

Alfonso: Well, I can’t tell you what to expect from Hope because I wouldn’t have a job tomorrow. But what I would like to do is take a moment and say how really, truly heartfelt and sincerely say, thank you, thank you, thank you for so many years of love and support through all of these years. And truly for making me feel so welcome, always. Your fans love you and wanted me to let you know how much they love you.

Alfonso: I am loving them back.
