Setside sources confirm that Apple Inc. recently announced a halt on selling NBC programs for this fall’s season on iTunes. This includes our favorite soap, Days. While NBC had no comment at the time of this article, Eddy Cue, Apple's vice president of iTunes says, "We are disappointed to see NBC leave iTunes because we would not agree to their dramatic price increase. We hope they will change their minds and offer their TV shows to the tens of millions of iTunes customers."
Though this is blow to iTunes, since NBC's programming is said to account for some 40% of video downloads on the site, various other parties have already made deals with Apple, who refuses to change their pricing from $1.99 to NBC's suggestion of $4.99 an episode!
What does this mean for Days fans? Simple. If you’ve been watching the show on iTunes, you will no longer have that pleasure. Sadly, it comes at a time when fans are already experiencing a letdown after NBC's Passions recent move to DirecTV and Canada’s Allarco Entertainment (Superchannel), but as with any business, it has to come down to the bottom line. As with anything, there is a silver lining. You’ll always have Days on television, on NBC and you can still catch our recaps here on Soaps.com!
