After the red carpet, Soaps.com went backstage to chat up the winners of the 39th Annual Daytime Emmys. Jonathan Jackson dished about his thoughts on his win and how it came to pass.
"I think the most special part about this evening for me is winning with Tony [Geary, Luke]. We really pushed ourselves as much as possible in 2011 and went to some pretty dark places. There’s just so much trust there between us so to see him win and be fortunate enough to win has been very exciting."
He watched about eight different shows and "went with my instincts" when he selected his Daytime Emmy reel. "You don’t see that kind of father and son risk taking and we just went for it. Spent a lot of time in his dressing room going over the material just digging and digging and trying to find the heart of it."
When asked how he prepared for the evening's shindig, he says, "It was more last minute...make sure I had black socks and not white socks. My wife helped a lot." On working together with Anthony Geary, who won for lead actor. He says Tony treated him like a peer. "He was never condescending. Same with Genie Francis [ex-Laura]. They’re both with me in every scene I do no matter which project I do. I can’t articulate the impact they have on me as an actor so I give a lot of credit [to them]."
