Backstage - Jon & Kelley Hensley (Joel Amos/

    Hello Soap fans!

I'm blogging live from backstage at the Emmy Awards! I've got some great articles coming soon from the red carpet interviews earlier this evening. Right now I'm watching Marie Osmond sing from the live monitors awaiting Julie Pinson to arrive in the press room following her win of the first award of the evening...Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Joel Amos is in the photo room snapping tons of photos for all. Here's just two samples of what's to come! Presenters Jon & Kelley Hensley and winner Drew Tyler Bell in the header photo.

As I watch the Lifetime Achievement Award Tribute to Soap Icon Agnes Nixon, the General Hospital Directing Team steps up to show off their shiny trophy. "Things aren't always what they seem, and fans should expect to continue to see lots of twists and turns throughout the stories coming up", says the team. The GH Directing Team attributes much of their success to Executive Producer, Jill Farren Phelps allowing them the freedom to put their stamp on it.

Drew Tyler Bell told the press, "I was good if I didn't win, but this is icing on the cake," in regards to his win for best Younger Actor in a Drama Series. Drew said that his character on The Bold and the Beautiful had some dramatic reactions to his sister's choice in men, that gave him some meaty stuff to play this past year, and he is grateful for it.

Backstage - Julie Berman (Joel Amos/

Best Younger Actress Winner Julie Berman exclaimed, "I am extremely grateful for this moment in time, and couldn't ask for anything more!" Julie congratulated all of the nominees for the evening and all of her fellow GH cast members before exiting the stage.

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am a huge fan of Days of Our Lives, and formerly Guiding Light and Santa Barbara. I must admit though, that As the World Turns has some exceptional acting on it and clearly, they were rewarded tonight. Michael Park (Jack) and Maura West (Carly) were awarded with the Lead Actor and Actress Awards.

Michael approached the stage with his eyes filled with tears. "Excuse me for being a baby, but their's just alot of emotions running through me at this time! You know, we've known that we were getting cancelled for over 6 months now, but we honestly sucked it up and came to work everyday to put on the best show possible, meanwhile practically dying inside." When asked what he is going to do with his trophy, he informs us that he may give it to his grandmother that has watched the show for over 50 years. As Michael exits the stage, we remind him that he is eligible again next year.

Hot on his heels is Maura West, Michael blows her a kiss as he exits and she approaches the stage with her daughter. When asked what is next for her, she replies "A long needed break! I will be spending alot of time with my children and then packing up my home for our family move from Connecticut to LA in August.' Maura was asked who she was wearing before she exited the stage. She looked back and exclaimed "JCrew; I never wear something I can't afford!"

Congratulations to the winners and to all of the ATWT fans out there. I hope that this win soothes the loss that you are feeling regarding the show!

Things are pretty busy backstage here so unfortunately I haven't been able to post as much as I wanted, but this only means lots of great interviews for you to come!

Feel free to check out video footage of interviews at 37th Annual Daytime Emmys on the red carpet.
