Soaps.com gives you the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Predictions!
The time is drawing near and by Sunday night all of the hype will be over and we will know exactly who took home a Daytime Emmy Award - and in which categories.
While we wait, some of the writers of Soaps.com wanted to share their Emmy predictions with our readers…
Predictions are never easy. Viewing all of the Daytime Emmy reels is certainly time consuming and though I have my own favorites, I can see where the Academy would choose one actor/actress or show over another, so this year I’m going to give my own thoughts of who I’d like to see win and who might actually win! Whether or not my "predictions" will pan out doesn’t matter. This is all in fun. I don’t believe that we are ‘experts’ who could do a better job than the soap fans, so I’ve added some of their thoughts and a few of my staff’s thoughts and I did try to be objective! Try… the operative word. Those who haven’t viewed the Emmy reels may not understand my choices until Emmy day, because they’re all based on those scenes that the actors have used. It may not be ideal, but that’s where it’s at. As for those who have made their own predictions, they are going by what they’ve watched and kudos to them, because they’ve got some great ideas on who should take home that illustrious Emmy, Sunday!
As Editor-in-Chief of Soaps.com, here are my predictions…
All of the shows, AMC, B&B, and DOOL put up some great reels. AMC had delivered scenes of the tornado and B&B was an emotional reel of Storm’s suicide. DOOL’s scenes were from the plane crash, courtesy of Ava, Steve’s ex. I’m going to vote B&B and say that it’s likely that All My Children will steal the Emmy!
All My Children’s direction during the tornado will probably win, and I think they should.
Outstanding Lead Actress:
It’s between Debbi Morgan (Angie, AMC), Maura West (Carly, ATWT), Susan Flannery (Stephanie, B&B), Susan Haskell (Marty, OLTL), Jeanne Cooper (Katherine, Y&R), and Jeanne Cooper rocked her dual role last year. She should win this year but I’m thinking One Life to Live's Susan Haskell may steal the show this time around.
