Katie and Nick discuss Jack, Eric worries about Rick’s anger, Ridge defends his relationship to Stephanie, and Taylor makes things clear with Brooke.
Katie pays the babysitter from next door and tells her she’s getting more involved at work so she might be needing her more often. The babysitter says she loves her son. Katie corrects her, but says she loves Jack just like he is her own.
Eric sits at Rick’s beside and assures him they will find specialists and since he’s young and strong he will get through this. Eric says the family will be there for him, but Rick says not the entire family – he’s paralyzed because of Ridge. Eric defends Ridge, but Rick says Ridge has had it in for him for years. Rick bemoans Ridge’s hold over Brooke and Taylor and Eric wonders if the accident was about his broken engagement to Taylor. Rick says Ridge won’t get away with it this time, he won’t let him. Eric understands that Rick is confused and hurt, but tells him his legs and his heart will heal. Eric thinks his anger at Ridge is inappropriate and Rick informs his dad of the ultimatum he gave Brooke. Eric tells his son he has to stop all this negativity, but Rick says Brooke can’t see Ridge for what he really is, but he can. He tells his father Brooke and Ridge are done and he will make sure of that.
Ridge defends himself to Stephanie, explaining what happened on the roof with Rick. Stephanie wonders how Brooke is taking this and Ridge assures her that Brooke doesn’t blame him and they are still getting married. Stephanie thinks Rick probably blames him though and Ridge suggests they just talk about Pam. Stephanie fills him in on what’s happening with his aunt and then changes the topic back to Rick. She thinks Rick went after Ridge because Taylor wants Ridge back. Ridge confirms this and Stephanie smiles saying, “Hallelujah.” Ridge tells his mother not to start, but Stephanie says he has never had any real long-term happiness with Brooke. Ridge retorts that they will deal with everything together. Stephanie says he always had peace and contentment with Taylor and hopes he won’t throw another opportunity for it away. Stephanie thinks Taylor loves him and asks Ridge to look her in the eye and tell her there are no feelings between them. Ridge says of course he still loves Taylor, but he’s making a life with Brooke now. Stephanie thinks Ridge just enjoys overcoming challenges, which Brooke provides on a regular basis. On the other hand, Taylor provides him with calm and peace, but Ridge thinks he and Taylor had that once a long time ago and that he and Brooke are committed to the future. Stephanie admits she instructed Taylor to fight for Ridge, but Ridge won’t let Stephanie turn Brooke into the villain in this story. Stephanie thinks Ridge could have the kind of life he really deserves with Taylor.
Brooke and Taylor continue to argue about Rick and Ridge. Taylor tries to defend herself, but Brooke says she should be happy Rick isn’t lying dead in a ditch like Darla! Taylor admits she’s made mistakes and then turns the tables on Brooke saying that Rick was the one taking care of Brooke while he was growing up and it’s no wonder he’s attracted to older women. She accuses Brooke of neglecting Rick and tells Brooke that she is also to blame for Rick resenting Ridge. Taylor tells Brooke she is taking back what is hers – her husband. Brooke adamantly says she and Ridge are making a future together and demands that Taylor stay away from Ridge because nothing will stop their wedding. Taylor says if they do get married she will respect it, just like Brooke respected her marriage. Taylor assures Brooke she’s not the same sweet goody two-shoes who Brooke pushed around. She says once you hit rock bottom, you have nothing to lose and you take whatever you want and right now she’s taking back Ridge. Brooke feels bad for Taylor because of the difficult decisions she’s had to make in the past couple of months, but she thinks going after Ridge will only bring her heartache. Brooke says she’s always heard psychiatrists are the craziest people of all and she’s starting to believe that. Taylor thinks if she is crazy it’s because of Brooke and everything she’s done to her and her family. Taylor thinks all of Brooke’s waffling over Ridge leaves him with only one safe place to go – to her. She promises she will take Ridge back and there’s nothing Brooke can do to stop her!
Nick comes in the room where Katie and Jack are and overhears Katie telling Jack sometimes she feels like his mom and wishes that she were. She thinks that she’s kind of like a mom to him and Nick makes his presence known. Nick takes Jack and Katie remarks what a great kid Jack is. Katie puts Jack down and she and Nick talk. Katie thinks Jack is really starting to bond with her and thinks maybe they should keep Jack full time until the situation with Rick is over. Nick thinks that will cause a lot of stress for Brooke and thinks Jack needs to be with his real mom. Katie notes that they can’t forget that Brooke is Jack’s biological mother, or that Nick has a baby with her sister.
