Bill works on Liam, Ridge asks Rick a favor, and Steffy and Liam get closer.
At Liam's place, Bill pours Liam some port and pulls out cigars. Liam doesn't want one. Steffy tells Bill to stop picking on him. Liam takes the cigar. They go outside. Steffy asks Katie, "Is this what brainwashing looks like?" Outside, Bill conducts a lesson on handling cigars with Liam. They discuss Hope dumping Liam. Bill thinks Liam wanted this outcome deep down. He builds up Liam's ego. Inside, Katie tells Steffy that Liam still loves Hope - it's not fair of Bill to use her. Steffy says she's not in competition with Hope - she just knows what she feels and wants. Once alone, Liam and Steffy discuss Bill. She wonders if Bill's success is really what Liam wants. Liam says Bill's right that he worries too much about what others think. Steffy is sorry Liam's so unhappy. Liam says Hope clearly doesn't want to be with him, so he needs to man-up like Bill said. He tells Steffy she's beautiful. She tells him not to base his decisions on the Spencer Boys Club - he's his own man. They kiss. She promises that when he comes around, they'll have the greatest love affair known to mankind.
At Forrester, Thomas tells Hope he'll go get sandwiches. Rick appears. Hope says Thomas is being nice. Rick says Thomas has feelings for her. Hope says Thomas is great, but she's not ready. Ridge enters and asks Rick to be his best man. Rick tells him to ask his own son. Ridge thinks Thomas will be busy with Caroline. Brooke arrives and asks Hope to be her maid of honor. Rick pipes up that he's honored by Ridge's request, but feels Thomas should be asked. Thomas returns and agrees to be best man - Caroline will understand. Later, Hope and Thomas discuss being in the wedding together. She says she lied to Liam about not loving him.
At home in bed, Katie tells Bill she hates when he smells like cigars. They bicker about Liam and Hope. Bill says he was brainwashed into thinking it was the right thing to do. Katie counters that Bill is trying to change Liam. "You're trying to make him into you." Bill says Liam needs to toughen up - you can't let the world wipe its feet on you. He blames Hope. Katie giggles at Bill's perception of himself as a bad ass who doesn't need anyone, but if he woke up and she and the baby were gone... Bill tells her never to say that again. He's trying to teach his son to be self-protective.
