Okay Soaps.com fans, I'm writing this as I watch the Daytime Emmy's. I'd like to say that I'm backstage at the Kodak Theater, but I'm really tucked away upstairs in the guest room so that my kids can't find me and ask me to make snacks. Here are my ever-so random comments about what I'm watching!
As the nominees for Best Supporting Actress names were listed, Lesli Kay used her camera time to mouth "Hi Mom", isn't that nice? Okay, so as it turns out, Lesli didn't win, but I'm guessing that cute little guy next to her is having a ball. (Her son?) How could she resent not winning (I don't want to use the word "lose") to a lifetime legend like Genie Francis, right? Congrats for the nomination Lesli. You look fabulous!
It was also great to see MacKenzie (Phoebe), Constantine (Constantine) and Rick (Rick - okay I feel ridiculous now) on stage together and not full of angst in a fake music studio arguing as they did this week on B&B! They presented the first award of the evening - Best Supporting Actress. Sadly, they didn't get to hand it off to fellow B&Ber Lesli Kay, but I'm sure they enjoyed their close-up look at Genie Francis's joy as she took the trophy.
When John McCook (Eric) and Peter Bergman (Jack from Y&R) came out together, it caught me off guard for a second. I caught myself wondering why they were presenting together and I thought, "Now wait a minute, don't tell me that Jack Abbott is a new cross-over character that I don't know about yet." Don't worry, it didn't take me long to realize that it was time for the Lifetime Achievement Award to be presented to Lee Phillip Bell. I was a bit disappointed to learn that the award was handed out last night, but they showed a snippet of her heartfelt speech in which she mentions her late husband Bill Bell. Besides, I never tire of seeing the ever dashing Eric Forrester in a tux.
Presenting B&B clips to support their nomination for Best Drama, (Previous) Emmy winners Susan Flannery (Stephanie) and Betty White (Ann Douglas) took a moment to say how appreciative they both are for the chance to work together. I couldn't stop thinking about how stunning Susan Flannery looked in her slightly tinted glasses. Very edgy and un-Stephanielike!
My favorite line of the night? When Ellen DeGenerous said that Bob Barker is a quiter! Stay tuned to Soaps.com because I'm quite sure that our Editor-In-Chief Christine Fix and Soaps.com Journalist Shannon Burrell will be bringing you all the inside highlights straight from the red carpet. Goodnight!
