The Bold and the Beautiful Casting: Kimberly Matula is the New Hope!

Friday, December 04 2009

Kimberly (The Bold and the Beautiful)
Deacon and Brooke's daughter Hope is getting SORASed in the form of Kimberly Matula.

The decision to age the character was explained in a statement from B&B's executive producer/head writer Bradley P. Bell. "Aging the character of 'Hope' to a teenager allows us to bring the next generation of 'Logans' to the forefront, as well as play a broader range of the 'Forrester' vs. 'Logan' story. 'Hope's' presence at Forrester Creations, as well as in 'Brooke' and 'Ridge's' home, sparks an intense competition between 'Hope' and her step-sister 'Steffy' as well as creates new conflict between long-time rivals 'Brooke' and 'Taylor' as each woman is determined to protect her own daughter."

Kimberly Matula hails from Fort Worth, Texas and landed this gig just ten months after moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. She has previously been seen in the Lifetime made for TV movie, "Queen Sized" and guest-starred on the CBS series, "How I Met Your Mother."

The older Hope will first air on January 11, 2010. Can her siblings be far behind? Tell Soaps.com what you think about the aging of Hope.

I think it's going to be wery interresting to see the relationships between Hope, Brooke, Ridge and Steffy but also Thomas, RJ.

It is stupid to age this child so much so soon. It is totally unbelievable that children age 10 years at a time and grownups remain the same age eternally and keep bearing children well into their 50s and 60s. I HATE this move on the part of TIIC!

I have watched soaps for over 50 yrs. Carlotta1960, soaps do this all the time. If you love soaps like I do you learn that they are some things you just have to expect. That is the only way we can have new soap lines.

I think it's fine as long as they age R.J. and Ally also!!!!

I think that its okay to age Hope, but remeber that Ali was born 2 years before Hope and R.J. has to be aged also because he is two years younger than Hope. If this is done in that fashion then Rick,Bridget,Thomas,Steffy and Ali,Hope,R.J.can really become the next generation of Forrester.

And if they age hope and they age everyone else then for those who also Y&R, if they bring little D back they need to age him so that he is older than hope because he was born way before hope. I just now started watching Y&R and if will be wierd watching both and seeing Little D younger than Hope.

I do not like aging characters one bit. Soap ratings have done down. Do the producers wonder why? More people want fantasy mixed with authenticity. Aging children drastically cuts out authenticity. Also, the new "Hope" does not look anything like Hope who was a wonderful character/actress.
There are loads of real life story lines to use with children the real Hope's age. Peer pressure, body image, perhaps Brooke homeschooling her and RJ. It's time to think outside of the box! Please; I urge others that are opposed to aging to also speak out against this.

There are many examples of soap operas not aging children.
I like myriad others loves watching Robin grow up on General Hospital. As The World Turns is also in the habit of letting children age naturally which provides plenty of opportunities for story lines.

As for As the World Turns, yes that is supposed to be canceled. On that show as well as on The Bold and The Beautiful, the story lines focus on dysfunction as in the past. Well, many viewers today are trying to get rid of the negativity and focus on the positive. Yes, its great that As the World Turns has that element of reality in keeping character children true to their ages while at the same time as I stated focusing on the negative. Couples constantly breaking up, children all confused.Lets see some solution to problems please. Please step outside the traditional soap opera mentality of dysfunctional fantasy and show some interesting scenarios with more families staying together.
