As "B&B" celebrates 27 years on the air (the daytime drama debuted on March 23, 1987), Soaps.com looks back with some interesting trivia from the CBS soap.
Shades of grey
When the show kicked off in 1987, John McCook (Eric) had to dye his hair grey to look older than Ronn Moss (then Ridge) because he was playing his father, but was actually only 7 years older.
"The Bold and The Beautiful" is hugely popular in Italy where the show is known as "Beautiful."
Then-writer Maria Arena Bell named fashionista Sally Spectra's daughter 'Macy' after the popular department stores.
The Forrester mansion as seen on TV was modeled after the real-life home of show creators Lee Phillip Bell and the late Bill Bell. Brooke Logan's house is actually the home of headwriter and executive producer Bradley Bell.
Soaps.com began recapping "The Bold and the Beautiful" on Monday August 7, 2006 when Brooke fired Donna as spokesperson for her line, Taylor took a leave of absence, Stephanie made amends with Taylor, and Ridge kissed Donna! Check out the B&B Recap: Brooke’s Bedroom Too Hot.
