On the private plane, Rick says that when they land in NYC, they should change their plans and head to Mexico to a private getaway. Ashley is angry with him and says that he's just frustrated because his girlfriend has been denying him for too long. Rick says that Phoebe was his ex-girlfriend and they are over. He says that one time in his life he felt amazing and it was with her. Ashley tries to resist, but she finally gives in to a hungry kiss.
Storm calls Brooke's cell phone and she tells him that she'll be at the courthouse soon. He tells her to hurry up because things are going badly for Nick. After he hangs up, Phoebe is called to the stand. Storm establishes that Shane was stalking her and that Ridge visited her on the Shady Marlin, but Shane never did. The prosecutor asks Phoebe to explain about Nick's confrontation with Shane when he came to their home. Next, Ashley is called to the stand. Storm asks her about the "popping" sound she heard at Forrester Originals the night that Shane disappeared. The prosecutor encourages Ashley to tell about how her father died while in prison last year. Then, she tells the court that Ashley tried to convince the court in her father's trial that she did the crime -- so much for Ashley's credibility!
Ashley is in the lab, but she can't keep her mind on work. Instead, she imagines a scenario in which Rick comes to her unable to resist temptation any longer. She is jarred into reality when Phoebe barges in and tells Ashley that just because her father doesn't want to date her doesn't mean he's a killer! Phoebe is in attack mode and accuses Ashley of filling Rick's head with lies. She also wants to know why she would go to Rick with her lies anyway? Ashley says that she doesn't know many people in LA, so it made sense because Rick is friend. Ashley clarifies that she cares for Ridge and is only trying to get to the truth. Phoebe won't back down and continues to through insults at Ashley. Finally, Ashley tells Phoebe that the only person who should have a guilty conscious is her! After all, if she had been able to convince Shane that she didn't want him around none of this would've happened.
Nick us taking with Rick in the holding cell of the police station. He says that Rick needs to be the eyes and ears for the truth. He knows that he's asking Rick to go up against his girlfriend's father and appreciates the position that he's in. Rick says, "Truth is truth." After Rick leaves, Storm arrives to work on the defense. He calls Ashley and asks her to come down to the police station. When she arrives, she tries to define the situation when she and Stephanie heard the noise that Stephanie thought was a freight elevator. Storm asks if she noticed anything different about Ridge's office and Ashley says that she hasn't, but isn't sure that she would. Storm asks if she could testify, and Ashley says that all she can do is try to shed some light based on what she knows. Then Storm mentions that Stephanie has petitioned for the trial date to be moved up. Nick goes ballistic and lights a fire under Storm to do whatever he can to prove him innocent -- and quickly!
Ashley is in the lab checking her messages. She hears one from Nick that urges her to think back to last week to see if she can remember anything else. Then she thinks back to how hard Stephanie tried to convince her that the freight elevator was noisy, etc. She picks up the phone and tells Rick's voicemail that she needs to see him right away.
On their way to see Constantine, Phoebe makes a quick phone call and Rick stops by Ashley's office. When he hears that Ashley thinks that Ridge killed Shane, he sends Phoebe ahead to see Constantine and says that he'll meet her there later. Then, he asks Ashley what she's talking about. She explains about the date with Ridge that never happened and how Nick came to her with questions. She says that she's getting a bad vibe about the whole thing. Then she tells Rick about the sound that Stephanie and she heard, but Stephanie quickly explained it away as the freight elevator. "You think Ridge shot Shane right here in this office building?" Rick asks. Ashley says that her head is spinning. But one thing she knows is that Ridge and Stephanie are acting very strangely. Rick says that Phoebe has said that if Ridge and Shane got together that night, it would've been ugly. Ashley says that even if Shane died at the office, that doesn't explain the evidence on Nick's boat. Rick thinks it through and says that Ridge could've taken the body to dump it from Nick's boat.
Ashley is about to turn in for the night when Nike comes over with a few questions. She agrees to give him five minutes. He says that he has a new wife and a baby on the way and that he won't go to jail for something he didn't do. He urges her to think back to the night of the Forrester Rodeo Drive opening. She tells him that she did work a little late that night because she had a date with Ridge. Nick seems surprised to hear than, and then bummed because that meant he had an alibi. Ashley says, "I didn't say that. In fact, I never saw Ridge that night after all." She tells Nick that Ridge had a business emergency and later when she saw Stephanie, she was told that he couldn't see her until tomorrow. Nick asks Ashley why she bought such a lame excuse and she tells him that she was satisfied with his excuse the next day. It turned out that he was still reeling from losing Brooke. She tells Nick that he needs to go, and Nick urges her to call him if she remembers anything else.
Stephanie goes straight over to Ashley's and cheerfully asks her what Nick wanted. Ashley explains what they talked about and Stephanie plays dumb. Ashley says that she did remember one thing that she'll have to call Nick about. Then she asks Stephanie if she remembers the loud noise that they both heard that night -- the one that sounded like a gun but Stephanie told her it was the freight elevator. Stephanie doesn't, of course.
Stephanie tells Ridge that he did the right thing at the press conference. Ridge doesn't feel very good about it no matter what his mother says. Ashley comes into the press room looking for her cell phone and Stephanie encourages them to reschedule their date. Ashley says that Abbey hasn't been feeling well, so she can't go to Santa Barbara. Ridge offers to bring dinner over instead. Ashley agrees and Stephanie pleased as punch.
Ashley has gone to the home and released the babysitter, Katherine. (Felicia has rented Ashley her house and moved into a guest house at her parents' estate.) When the doorbell rings, Abby runs to answer it. Ridge greets her with arms full of takeout from Café Russe. He sits down on the sofa with the little girl and looks at photo albums with her. She shows him a picture of her daddy and says that he might come to LA for a visit soon. Ashley sends her upstairs to put her jammies on and then enjoys some wine with Ridge. They toast to their much-awaited first date. She tells Ridge how nicely she is settling into LA and that she was ready to start over. Ridge asks her who she was running from, and she doesn't answer - but flashes to time with Rick in Paris. Then they talk about their kids and how cute they are at Abby's age. Ashley tells him that it's nice to see him lighten up a little and he moves in for a kiss. Or twenty! The phone rings and Ashley tears herself away to answer it. She is surprised to learn that Nick is on the phone asking if she is with Ridge. She refuses to comment and he takes that as a "yes". Then he asks to meet with her tonight. She tells him to call her assistant in the morning. When she turns her attention back to Ridge, he tells her that he should be leaving. He says, "I feel like I've botched a lot of things lately, and this…is one of the things I'd like to do right." Then he leaves for the night.
